OZTHEMAN
Looking around Ewood these days and most of us ask who is the best player we have in each position, then this very week we play a friendly against Celtic winning 3-1 and the new player scores,SLEW, a young player scores J.Lowe and one of the BEST players we have also starts the scoring.. His name is famous to all of us bought during the Ince era playing only 90minutes against the big teams and usually walking off injured.. his name is pull another muscle Grella.. His footballing abilities do match the best and with Petrovic needing time to adjust to the pace of the EPL VG should and could add the maturity that will be required this weekend? We know he wont be able to complete the full 90 min but now as reports say he is fit again the least he should be expecting is a call to the bench..His footballing ability in my opinion exceeds that of ANY player we have(imo honestly I believe this as he was the main man for Autralia for so long) sadly so does his injury record!! He will turn 32 next month he will want a new contract and with that record no team will give it him unless he starts to play regularly again.. St_Jimmy_77
I can sort of understand your reasoning behind Grella playing but how else is Petrovic supposed to settle down into the PL? I say start Petrovic and put Grella on the bench in case. I believe once Petrovic is settled, we will have a great player on our books!
dubdubdub
I'd go with Grella but only if he is fully fit. Scratch that...he's probably never been fully fit. Only if he's half fit.

I say start Petrovic and put Grella on the bench in case. I believe once Petrovic is settled, we will have a great player on our books! From the Everton game he looked well off the pace scared to even head the ball, he has ability but for me he is too much like S.Nzonzi supposed to be calm on the ball and simple passes looked decent against SWFC but out of his depth,or scared with the bigger crowd against EFC..Partizan Begrade are building a new 35 000 seater stadium but the one he has played in only hold 21 000.. He needs another month at least.. my team for this weekend ..P.R..M.S..C.S..S.D..M.O..J.H..S.N..V.G..S.V..M.F..D.G.. Simon being the newcomer and potentially playing his first game for rovers.. cesus
Grella sat infront of defence works, he is a very tidy footballer. His fitness is frightening and I can't remember the last time he played 90 mins but as a footballer I rate him highly and would play him Sunday 'whilst' he is fit! Hughesy
Do we really need to go all defensive midfield against an average Fulham side?? Also surely Gorilla is not match fit? Solid defence & attack, attack, attack!
Andy
If he's fit, Grella should always start ahead of Nzonzi and Petrovic.
Baz
Personally I think it took Keef to make him look competent. To me he was always too slow, too aggressive, and lacking in quality. Looking at the above comments I think absence makes the heart grow fonder. The guys been out for 9 months after picking up a slight strain whilst warming up. super_arran
If he's fit, Grella should always start ahead of Nzonzi and Petrovic. For once Andy, I agree with you! I see Grella as a type of Roy Keane player. Unsettles opponents and is good at breaking up play. If he was fit he'd be a start every week for me. It's just a shame he's made out of glass. N'zonzi is good; don't get me wrong. But he's a little bit too bambi like for me. All arms and legs and no real passion
beerwins
This guy has the speed of a pensioners crown green bowling team, he hacks players down because he cant get near them and injures himself because he is made of brittle toffee, not too mention he probably has'nt even watched 90 mins let alone played a full match. I saw him lose a race to the ball against Kevin davies.....True story. Should have sent him instead of Bert to Sydney FC.
Amo
Expect nothing from Grella and you'll always be disappointed.
Balwer
Yes. Next to N'Zonzi in a 4-2-3-1. He has his knockers but the man has 50 international caps for a top 20 team, whereas Petrovic is young and a work in progress and has played exactly one PL game. Let's use him while we can. roversmum
Unsettles opponents and is good at breaking up play. Grella is certainly unsettling. He unsettles me for a start - wondering how long he is going to last before he cuts his toe on a blade of grass.
Billy Castell
We are assuming he's not going to pull a hamstring, screw his knee up or whatever putting his clothes on between now and Sunday. That is a big if.
Whyoy
So to sum up The man is fit but prone to injuries When fit he is painfully slow So much so that he rarely makes a clean tackle He's been a very lucky man to have such a hero as Keith Andrews at the club who could take the flak that rightly should have gone in his direction So remind me How many full matches has he completed for the club? How many goals has he scored in his Ewood career? How much did he cost the club? How much are his wages per week?

A terrible signing, £4m for a load of injuries and average displays when he does play. It was a shame when his move to Galatasaray broke down last summer. Put him on the bench if he's actually match fit, and let N'Zonzi and Petrovic develop their partnership and understanding.

Sparky Marky
Hes jist poor. A drain on us and we should sell him. He's like Dunn but in 10 years. He wants to be ashamed.

I would shoot the bugger, Steven Reid was out for a very long time whilst at Rovers but he always did commentary for radio lancs or was at the games watching, I have not seen this guy at Ewood once while he has been out. I may well be wrong and apologize if I am but this guy is the biggest merc we have, in the few games I have seen him play he is shockingly bad, yes on the ball he has a certain confidence way better than Nzonzi but he just Cant get the ball, he is so slow and his tackles are miles out, I watched him in the world cup and was amazed he was in the team, he was'nt prem class, he is'nt premm class, he never will be prem class. Flog him to Stanley, or flog him on the town square.

This season I do think he will try unless he wants to go to Australia and take it easy..He might want that last pay cheque and nobody will employ him unless they see him playing.. He might be given a chance and his ability will show as he wants a final pay day maybe this season he will remain fit.. :!:

The Italian league is best suited to him because of the speed of the game, he was a bad buy for Rovers and not because he is a bad footballer but because he has'nt adapted well to the English game......He isnt the first. I dont wish him any hard feelings, simply because I dont pay his wages, if I did he would have been in a pair of concrete slippers over a year ago! jones_rover
There seems to be no middle ground with Grella. People seem to think he is either the best midfielder we have or the worst (bar Keith). I personally would like to see him given one last chance to try and prove his undoubted quality! FourLaneBlue
I would play him instead of Nzonzi. At least he would try and make life difficult for the opposition midfielders. Let him stay back and Formica/Rochina could be allowed to roam forward.
