  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

ok, ill explain my vote for him. I wouldn't mind his removal by any means , HOWEVER, if it means someone like Keegan, Walter Smith, O'Leary taking over then I would rather stick with him. I firmly believe we will not get someone like Hughes, O'Neill etc, they wont come, simple as. Feel free to slate me but as far as I am aware, he has the full backing of the players, until that changes I will back him...sort of.

If you listen to the podcast, Kamy says he knows of 4 players who don't think kean is up to the job.

Most of the fans don't either.

i reckon hughes and o'neill would come if rovers money to spend in january and if they had full control of signings

Can I also just add that if Kean was to be given a new contract I would find this outrageous, I would be so angry. He certainly isn't deserving of one, so to give him one, especially in our predicament would further our reputation as a joke club. It would be an insult to the fans, the majority of fans who want him out.

This is how a balanced debate has turned into a witch hunt.

It's also why only 2 people have voted to back him.

I dont really care if people vote to give him more time, I would hope they would like to back up the vote with a reason why they think he should be given more time because I cant find one reason and it would be nice to hear other people's views..............no matter how insane they are :P

yes, people are terrified of the vilification from posting anonymously on a message board poll...

People aren't terrified, but I doubt that those who are willing to give Kean more time (which doesn't include myself) really want to express an opinion when they're only going to get slated for it.

There is no room for balanced debate - Kean can only do wrong and that is the end of it.

perhaps that's true of the posting, but people who are voting in the poll itself can do so anonymously without having to write any comments about it. The numbers don't lie, either in the voting or in the win record. The debate has gone on for close to a year. It's become very one-sided for a good reason.

Out of curiosity if you wouldn't mind his removal and would be outraged if he was given a new contract, why have you voted don't sack him? And given the reason for your vote as you would rather have him than the likes of Walter Smith or David O'leary?

I am not having a go at you in the slightest but am having a hard time understanding your reasoning. The question is should Steve Kean be sacked now - not should he be sacked and replaced with Walter Smith etc etc.

Given his record since he took over I think the general consensus is that anybody with premier league experience would be a step in the right direction. I am afraid that given our current joke club standing we will probably not end up with someone with the stature of a fergie, cloughie, shankly etc and will have to put up with whomever we get. Like it or lump we are probably not viewed as a desirable place for a manager to come to. The pr surrounding this club has done a lot of damage in football circles. And if we still go down then it would be thanks mostly to the poor start under kean. It is going to take a massive effort from whoever comes in to change things, instill a winning mentality and to stop the rot that has set in. It certainly has to be someone who can do that but under kean it will not happen.

For me, way too much water has gone under the bridge for there to be any way back for Kean.

In a parallel world where there had been no drink driving incident or hinting that fans were involved, and had his press conferences been truthful, or if he hadn't come out with stupid claims throughout the transfer window before desperately signing a load of "his" players that are now warming the bench then maybe, just maybe, more fans would be willing to give him more time.

The fact is though, that all the above did happen, and it is distasteful to most fans. Most supporters neither trust nor respect the manager, and combined with the fact that we're bottom of the league and seemingly incapable of winning a football match without own goals from the other team, he has got to go. He should have walked when the protests got serious but given the personality of the man he's clearly got to be pushed, because he's not going to jump. He genuinely believes that he's going to get us out of this mess... by playing Jason Roberts up front.

I don't care who the next manager is, honestly I don't. But we HAVE to sack Kean now because we cannot continue as we are. Changing the manager will stop the protests, unite the support (at least for a while), take some pressure of the owners if they get someone decent and hopefully make everyone believe that we can get out of this mess.

It is, as they say, a no brainer.

"ok, ill explain my vote for him. I wouldn't mind his removal by any means" "Can I also just add that if Kean was to be given a new contract I would find this outrageous, I would be so angry." Why would you give someone more time who you:

1. wouldn't mind his removal

2. don't think should be given a new contract

3. would be angry should he be given a new contract

Fair questions, not a witch hunt at all. At the moment the only people l know that concur with your reasoning are either dingles or Venkys. Christ, dingles are loving "agent" kean, why is 99% of the footballing world able to see what is going on and you cannot?

I live in the shadow of Pendle and my word do we love a good witch hunt here but l would have you hung for being a complete madman, your babblings would have you sentenced instantly.

Please ban the 2 people who have voted for more time, they're Burnley fans.

Bringdunnback came on here and explained his reasoning, this isn't a witch hunt.

As hard as it is for me to say this, but I feel like recent performances have improved under Kean. Possibly due to the Smith and Clement appointments.

I still want him gone, and think he needs to go, but it's hard to argue that things are getting worse under him because performances have definitely improved.

Unfortunately, results haven't.

But tactically he is still making the same mistakes over and over again, regardless of how the performances have improved. His tactical naivety is costing us. In the lsat game (I'm not sure about all the recent performances) we passed the ball better, but we're still terrible up front. And our midfield still leaves the defense terribly exposed, over and over again. On Sunday it was just a matter of time before Tottenham made the most of it.

I jumped up and cheered when we scored but in my heart I knew we were still going to get nothing from the game because I could see the glaring schoolboy tactics at work from the off. So predictable. Then 70th minute, almost like he sets an alarm to indicate he must make a sub, he brings off Formica who had scored, and who has youth on his side, and leaves an aging striker, who isn't the best to begin with, on the pitch.

I'm physically sickened by this report.

Out of curiosity if you wouldn't mind his removal and would be outraged if he was given a new contract, why have you voted don't sack him? He doesnt deserve a contract, and if he was to be replaced with quality then I'm all for his sacking. HOWEVER I dont believe we will be reeplaced with quality so he gets my vote to keep him on

I am not having a go at you in the slightest but am having a hard time understanding your reasoning. The question is should Steve Kean be sacked now - not should he be sacked and replaced with Walter Smith etc etc. Fair points...however if Kean was sacked now, in my opinion our only options would be the likes of Smith and O'Leary...theres no point sacking a manager and then have no one else lined up, that would be disastrous

Given his record since he took over I think the general consensus is that anybody with premier league experience would be a step in the right direction. I am afraid that given our current joke club standing we will probably not end up with someone with the stature of a fergie, cloughie, shankly etc and will have to put up with whomever we get. Agree with most of that, apart from the premier league experienced manager being a step in right direction. I firmly believe, managed by the likes of Smith etc (people who we are likely to target should Kean go) we will go down for sure.

"ok, ill explain my vote for him. I wouldn't mind his removal by any means" "Can I also just add that if Kean was to be given a new contract I would find this outrageous, I would be so angry." Why would you give someone more time who you:

1. wouldn't mind his removal - given he is replaced by someone like Hughes, Lambert, O'Neill etc

2. don't think should be given a new contract - just because I back him doesnt mean he deserves a new contract, I back all the Blackburn players (including Keith Andrews), doesnt mean I think he deserves a new contract, they should be earnt.

3. would be angry should he be given a new contract - he hasnt earnt it

Fair questions, not a witch hunt at all. At the moment the only people l know that concur with your reasoning are either dingles or Venkys. Christ, dingles are loving "agent" kean, why is 99% of the footballing world able to see what is going on and you cannot?

Haha fair enough...the underlying matter is that, if we got rid of Kean would we better off? In my opinion...No, purely because we wouldn't get anyone better, the players back Kean, its clear that they try hard for him, there hasnt been a revolt against which you wouldve expected by now. I like to believe we will stay up this season and that is they way I'm still thinking, and I'm not even a positive person.

Sorry for the late replies btw, thats what happens when you work in a nightclub.
