jim mk2 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Kamy, will you be asking him about the drink driving charge? Or it is going to be exclusively football related? I appreciate if you'd want to avoid asking him about that as I suppose it is in a sense personal... on the other hand I think a fair few people are uneasy over his apparent lies to the police and the questions this raises about his character as manager of the club. Outside the brief of the interview and unlikely to be very productive. The drink-drive case would be forgotten if Rovers were doing well and Kean well liked and seen as a competent manager.

paullarrygher Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I'd also be happy if you asked a question about the drink driving conviction. I don't think this was ever properly addressed by the club or Kean and was swiftly swept under the carpet. As someone who has suffered indirectly at the hands of a drink driver, I found it shocking how the club kept it's silence over this and moreso Kean. This incident made me lose any hope or respect I had left for Kean. His actions during the trial were even more disgusting by trying to wriggle his way out of it and the judge himself labelling him a liar. How are we as fans expected to believe anything he says? Actions speak louder than words.
SharrockDownSouth Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 On a tangent from the interview talk, but this piece on the BBC about Southampton and how their squad is well prepared and they sacked they're underperforming manager last season could do with forwarding on to the Venky's: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2011/09/the_adkins_diet_gets_saints_in.html#297164
LeChuck Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Kamy, will you be asking him about the drink driving charge? Or it is going to be exclusively football related? I appreciate if you'd want to avoid asking him about that I agree there. As much as I'd like to see/hear him squirm over it, I think it could devalue the questions that really are affecting Rovers at the moment.

The drink driving one is difficult as it is in sense personal, but I will be putting it to him that fans felt that he was accusing them when he suggested that his drink had been spiked when he was having photos taken. I will say that it is pretty strong accusation to make, what proof did he have etc. Right, i don't want to get people excited. BUT something definitely is happening at Ewood today, not sure what it is but have been talking to other journo's and they also saying something is going on. Of course could be something unrelated to Kean but still not had confirmation of the interview, maybe that is because things are in motion re his removal, or I could be putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5.
Guest Rovers4Good Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 It's getting very tedious talking about Kean now and i agree he shouldn't be the manager of our fine football club but at the present time i think it would be very crazy to get rid of him and if Venk'y did so then it would sum them up big time. Kean should have gone in the summer and we should have got a man in charge who has some experience of what it's like to run a Premiership club year in year out. Giving Kean the job was a suprise to all of us and just staying in the league last year may have given the owners a little lift into thinking Kean could do a job but he's failed to live up to that and then giving him a kitty to spend in the transfer wondow and then to get rid of him within 2 weeks of it ending would be suicidal to say the least so give him until next month and if it's still the same then on your bike son as i still think there'll be enough time to turn things around.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I know Kamy will go about it professionally, from listening to the podcasts and the contributions he has made to the site over the years that is unquestionable. I do have to question the point of interviewing Kean in the first place. Apart from being a bit of a coup for the site, Kean's vague answers aren't going to ease fans concerns - in fact I would say it's likely to make them even more angry going off his track record of spouting BS on a weekly basis. Will we learn anything new from a compulsive liar? I doubt it. Wouldn't be better to try and get an interview with one of the owners or the people running the club at board level? The people who can explain to the fans why they are sticking with this manager and seemingly are happy to see the club heading into oblivion. Let's face it they have the power to get us out of this mess, not Kean.

The drink-drive case would be forgotten if Rovers were doing well and Kean well liked and seen as a competent manager. That is a matter of a opinion. Depends on how strong a persons views are on the subject. I believe the clock is ticking fast towards his departure from the club, just wish it would go faster.

I do not believe Kean has the ability to turn the team around. I do though believe as the season has only been going for a few weeks, a new man would have the time to motivate this team to have a really good season. Of course it depends on who comes in. I believe the squad is good, but needs to be properly managed.

OJRovers Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Sounds like you are well prepared and have some good questions Kamy - top work.

Each game that passes makes it increasingly more difficult for the person succeeding Kean, though.
Ricky Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I know Abbey has had a text saying Kean has been sacked but that may have come from someone reading kamys comments above and putting 2 and 2 together.
PAFELL Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Ah yes, but... "I don't believe that's the case at all. Not according to the fans I speak to. How many people voted in the poll? Only 500? That's not a large number of fans. As I've said previously we, the fans, players, the owners, all of us, need to keep pulling together and I'm extremely confident that we'll soon shoot up the table" etc etc etc Good idea, we'll all pull together. Somebody grab is head, somebody else the feet and pull.

I would be surprised yet delighted if he had been sacked, he sucks up too much to Venkys to be sacked in my opinion, maybe another defeat will signal the end!!

Do you mean something potentially big is going on at Ewood?? Could do with some positve news.
Mercer Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Phoned my local bookie, never far from the mark and bookies usually have a good idea of what's going-on, and he's refusing to take any bets as is an associate of his.

I have even the uncrossable parts of my anatomy crossed Kamy. Although this would mean that I would be impossibly hungover tomorrow....
John Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Champagne on me for anyone resident in the London area if this happens!

PAFELL Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Champagne on me for anyone resident in the London area if this happens! If he is sacked, expect this messageboard to crash - and I won't care (sorry admin)
DeadlyDirk Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I've just done a little sex wee, please be true, with the added bonus of winning some cash on the first manager to go.

Mercer Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Sky bet still taking bets so don't read too much into it! My bookie is a canny lad. He said he'd let me know if he gets any confirmation, he picked-up some gossip this morning.
