  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

not sure if anyones seen todays Sun Super Goals?

They report the Stoke match with a massive headline over the page saying 'DELUDED'

The sub headline says that if 'Rovers finish bottom, Kean will still boast they're the 20th most successful club in the prem league'

Hopefully people are starting to see what we all know

Martin Blackburn is a rovers fan, it's only him and a couple of other journalists that aren't fond of Kean.

Would be good if a few of the others started to realise that he's lying to them just as much as he's lying to the fans.

Henry Winter of the Daily Telegraph has been vocal in his disdain for Venky's and Kean a few times on twitter. I think he has worked either as a journalist in the area before or had something to do with BRFC in the past if someone could confirm?

He's Kenny's biographer, he spent loads of time in the 90s around Ewood and Brockhall

Thanks.

I remember him criticising the regime and saying that the fans deserve so much better.

Good on him, I saw a guy in the sun criticising Kean and labelled him 'deluded', the penny is dropping at long last!

Just to echo Slats, went to the Sun site and in the match report here are a few comments from the journo, Dean Scoggins.........

IF you are ever down on your luck and cannot find a positive to keep your head up – just go for a chat with Steve Kean.

Problem is, the Blackburn manager's attempts to accentuate the positives are becoming increasingly delusional.

After another poor display and inevitable defeat at Stoke, Kean clutched at more straws.

The highlights were these: When asked how he explained a 44 per cent possession stat — the lowest of any team this season at Stoke, Kean said: "We won a lot of second balls."

Asked about the morale of his camp after one win in 13, the Scot said: "Only three teams have gained more points from losing positions than us."

Not an achievement most would be pointing at. He then added: "We had 10 shots on target, enough to win two, games." For the record, Thomas Sorensen made one save of note.

Kean has guaranteed a local paper that his team '100 per cent' would not go down. He added: "No team will get relegated this week. The stats can turn around."

Perhaps more of a statement than a question, but Kean was asked: "That's 0.8 points per game, on this form, you'll surely be relegated?"

He replied: "I disagree with that."

Oh sorry, Steve, we forgot you had promised a top 10 finish.

How silly of us. But we have not forgotten the ridiculous statements that have come out of Ewood Park since Kean and the Venky clan arrived. Talk of Champions League football by 2015 and attempts to sign David Beckham and Ronaldinho.

Just in case they had not made Blackburn enough of a laughing stock, the Rovers players were then involved in a shocking chicken advert for the club's owners.

Blackburn were inept at the Britannia. There is no hiding behind fancy tactics, positive talk or management speak

A couple of weeks ago, the truth finally dawned on the local media. Now it seems to be reaching a national level. Where next?

The deluded article is written by Dean Scoggins, not Martin Blackburn. I have no idea who Dean Scoggins is, but I like his style :)

He meets the villagers everyday, they tell him what a great job he is doing and understand what he is trying to do.

I did notice if you listen to today's presser, he is blaming above for the lack of communication. He still hasn't got it that it is him we don't want !!!

He is getting more and more deluded by the hour.....

There's some extreme drivel posted on this site from time to time, but blimey. Are you trying your best to out-drivel it?

Some people did tell you so, deal with it. It's to do with results not rumours. The table and stats do not lie. The man cannot win football matches.

Relative high end of last season?!?! You'd have to have had an extremely high dosage of medicine to feel it was a relative high. The man nearly took us down for goodness sake.

Its very kind of you - but I don't think I will ever match your drivel !

According to the previous poster - he knew twelve months ago that Kean would take us into the Abyss - I wonder if this particular piece of soothsaying was before or after 4 wins in 7 matches in late 2010 - early 2011 ? There have always been flaws in his tactics - but at times it has appeared we were getting to grips with it - and then we reverted to type. Other people can see that - but I suppose I will just have to bow down to your greater football judgement.

Relative high - well I would say 8 points out of the final four matches of last season was a relative high considering what had gone before, but you are obviously a difficult man to please - or possibly don't understand the word "relative" ?

In his tenure as manager is win ratio is less than 19% , which means relegation , he tried his best last season , this time around he will suceed ....

No problem with that statement - just the "I knew 12 months" ago brigade - whose fortune telling ability seems to know no bounds. I wonder if they for told our current position after we beat WBA and Liverpool last season ?

They need to remember another rookie manager who had an awful start to his Rovers career - by the name of Howard Kendall. BTW - not defending Kean in any way.

Howard Kendall was helped by the fact he was a wonderful player , his bad start only lasted 3 month ..

This has been going on for a year, how on earth is it comparable to Kendall?

Kean is still here and the frustration goes on. I can't see what we can do next and have never felt as helpless. Why are the media in general not looking seriously into what is going on? I know all this they don't like us, we don't have enough fans, we don't matter etc etc etc, but if this club implodes in the way that is predicted by many it will have an impact greater than that of Portsmouth in that everyone could see how their demise came about over a number of years, but we were well run and organised and someone somewhere must be able to see that if it happened to us it can happen to anyone. The Premier League supposedly got their act together on the fit and proper persons test after the Portsmouth debacle, but they blatantly didn't otherwise the rao family and Anderson wouldn't have got their claws into us. I keep checking to see if the waste of space that is Kean has gone but I think if I ever read he had I'd have to check the date before I believed it.

But DMTP, you may have a point with some of the U-turns made from some posters on here, exhibit A, the Liverpool thread from January:

http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php/topic/23967-blackburn-rovers-v-liverpool/page__st__440

So I thought I would post my serving on that thread!

Well done lads and Steve Kean last night, great performance, lots of width which was pleasing to see and Juniors performance was brilliant, though I would have been disappointed if we had allowed a player to set up Benjanis second.

Bunn looked competant, Samba, looked as if he was playing slightly ahead of a back three to nullify Torres picking the ball up from deep. As for the substitutions, I would definately have brought EH Diouf on as Kean did to shore up the left hand side in the second half as thats where Liverpool were pressing us a bit!!

But hey, great result, great football and what a top pro Salgado is, for all his years at the top, he hasnt come here on a meal ticket, how about a player coach role at Ewood?

I have been critical of what has been happening at Rovers and the result has given us some encouragement for the future, however, dont get too far ahead of ourselves, some experienced coaches/managers from future opponents will have taken on board our performance and tactics and will be looking to prevent us playing that way, its how we react in the next games, the Liverpool game is gone now, it was enjoyable and brilliant 3 points.

Like I said, they would have recognised the way we played that night, everyone pushing up from wide areas leaving the back four exposed!!

we have heard this all before!!!

JUST ANOTHER PR STUNT!!!

Kean Out!!!

The fans forum should try to make this happen, they're the obvious link with the club.

How about a questions and answers session in the Premier lounge like we've seen with past managers.

Lets call his bluff :tu:

I am not saying it is - just that some on here seem to be so self righteous that they foresaw all our current problems 12 months ago. Kendall had an awful start to his career at Rovers - but turned it around with a sequence of results, the like of which we didn't see again until the Walker years. The only comparison - is that it is possible to turn things around. In Kean's case, IMO, it has now gone too far - but some people never see any of the limited positives. Nicko has said on his twitter account - there seem to be some people putting around rumours to destabilise the club (as if our owners needed any help in that respect) - and some people just seem to be too eager to run with them as though they are fact.

Didn't know where else to put this but a friend of mine - was a journalist at a well known paper for many years now semi retired and freelance - just posted on facebook to say that he has just been barged into by David Dunn at Manchester airport and that Kean was with him (sadly smiling away and looking happy!)

Does anyone know if they are off to India for another 'meeting'?
