  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

How many points did we have this time last season....?

Playing a lot better?!

Fulham looked like a European Cup Winning side playing Morecambe for large parts of the second half!!

Yes, a lot better.

And what about the first half?

And the Everton game?

And we didn't exactly get walked over against Wolves either with only half a centre back playing.

Results haven't gone our way. But we haven't been playing all that badly.

A lot better from when?

Christ, we looked a more dangerous and organised side under Kean LAST season, now that is a scary thought!

It's rather sad actually seeing someone promoted above their means (whether genuinely or through collusion) as you know they cannot return to their previous role when the mud flies. Kean needs to go pronto but we lose by all accounts a damn good coach.

His substitutions show me he is not cut out for management though, as soon as he makes changes the players look like strangers. Having said that we have the most attacking youthful team we have had for some time, they just need to be harnessed correctly.

Its all down to organisation, each player knowing and sticking to their roles, at the moment we are disjointed and all over the place, if you dont retain a shape, your team mates are left exposed, doesnt matter which ones they are, you struggle to cope.

The whole idea of a game plan is not to simply pass a ball or remain solid, its about finding

ways of dragging their defence and players out of position, turning a defence facing their own goal, we are not doing that at all and defences find it easy to play against us, thats why it takes a special strike like Rochinas to nick a goal.

Our team is bereft of balance, we are lacking a real ball winner and a top striker (the jury is out on Yakubu) but as has been posted previously by myself and others, we have too many players who are, if you will second strikers or play in the hole, Hoilett wants to play there too, so we have Dunn, Formica, Rochina and Hoilett who favour that role!!

Defensively, with proper cover from the rest of the team, we are pretty decent, I think with Olsson and the lad from Sporting, we have decent width, we have creativity but our ball retention is poor, our fitness is of an extremely low standard and we havent got a ball winner. Our signings have been players, rather than integral pieces of the jigsaw which the manager should have identified at the start of the transfer window.

I've seen better prepared pub teams than the one I saw with my own eyes yesterday's second half shocker...... No wonder Samba refused to come out for the second half!!

Now we've resorted to making up lies based on players injuries now...

If thats the case then don't forget about Dunny refusing to play for Kean anymore and Rochina getting fed up of our "fans".

You'll be saying you've heard it from someone "inside the club" next

It's called...... Humour!!

In 30 odd years of watching rovers I can say

Tactics- none

Fitness- none

Leader on the pitch- none

Leader off pitch- none

Players sticking to a plan- no

Manager with a plan- no

Poor subs- yes

We are currently playing in the hardest league in the world, you must have the best on and off the pitch, we are woefully lackin in both.

I do not want to have a go at the team I love, I did not enjoy the sam years, but their was an air of professionalism on and off the pitch.

We may not be blessed with the best players, but fitness is the minimum I expect from these so called professionals.

whats that then, appointing jensen? do these clowns have any braincells?

Personally I would rather keep Kean. This is the most interesting thing IMO - every good manager needs good back room staff and coaches. This is where Kean has been most exposed - a good No 2 like Steve Clarke would have helped hugely.

I actually wouldn't mind him remaining at the club - there have been aspects of his reign where you can actually see a positive impact in individual performances. He just doesn't have the experience/ability to create a team pattern. In all likelihood he is what we seem to specialise in at Rovers - another good coach promoted to a job he doesn't have the aptitude for.

If he is a damn good coach why are the players not fit?

Because he isn't a fitness coach.

Rumour has it that he is into all the sports science - so I am surprised at the fitness levels.

Wolves, Bolton, Arsenal, West Ham were all better performances than the majority of the tripe served up thus far.

Are most Rovers fans blind to what you are seeng arran? And would you feel it would be the wrong decison if he was removed?

You missed out Liverpool.

You really believe we didn't dominate Everton for at least 90% of the game?

You can't really compare the best games we played in last season or I could just go;

"Well we only lost 3-1 against Villa, last season we lost 7-1 against united"

I'm saying in general, we're playing much better than the majority of last season.

Read PEDRO's post on the last page. He puts it far better than me as to why we are playing better this season.

And I would feel it would be wrong to let him go now, as the performances have not been on a sackable level.

"yeh well it's our worst run ever"

I know this, but I've previously stated why I believe this is.

Sacking of Sam disrupted team form.

Changed style of play too soon. Also disrupted form.

End of the season, form picked up.

where do you think that one win is coming from?

Might happen on Saturday?

Swansea were unlucky to get nothing off Arsenal on Saturday.

It's like people don't want it to happen just so they can see Kean fail.

If we win, "it's a fluke. Arsenal aren't the team they were, it won't last"

He's won 5 games snce he was appointed!

HE decided to change style too soon(though we are stll humping it forward), so why does he get a pass for that?

BRFC cannot afford to have novices in charge, we have seen this time and time again.

You are right, if we were winning games there would be no letters, no protests, no banners, hell his name could have even been sung. But we are not winning matches this season, just lke last- therefore he has to go for the good of the club.

I must admit, I can see many valid reasons for us not winning so far this season. We lost against Wolves because Dunn faffed about with the ball on the halfway line and got his pocket picked, this led to Salgado giving away a penalty. We also had a central defence that consisted of a teenager and a tall midfielder playing there for the first time and we gave a player way too much time to pick out a cross. (Were the errors and injuries Kean's fault? No.)

Villa, we were outplayed and disorganised but this goes for the same as many previous managers and I can't remember the last time we won there in the league. Robinson let in some soft goals and Hanley dropped a testicle on the edge of the box (The blame could be put down to the manager but also the players were very poor)

Everton, we absolutely dicked them for 80% of the game. Hoilett and Formica missed from 12 yards and Samba needlessly gave away a penalty in the last minute. (Kean's fault? Definitely not but the starting eleven he picked looked organised but bland).

Fulham, decent first half apart from Givet getting owned (the same Givet that people on this site have been pleading for to play at left back). We had a youthful and quite effective line-up but a string of injuries meant that we pieced together a side in the 2nd half and come away with a good point. (Kean's fault that 4 key players were injured during the game and players were tired due to playing in two internationals the previous week? Nope).

I think Rovers are playing much better stuff than under the previous two managers but I think the manager lacks three important things - trust, results and luck. I'd definitely welcome an experienced manager back but even the much celebrated Harry Redknapp has taken sides down.

I have been willing to give Kean time - I do believe that what he is trying to achieve could potentially bring exciting football to Ewood. However - his organisational skills just don't appear up to it. I have lost count of the number of times two Rovers players have challenged for the same ball. Shows great commitment - but little organisation.

Things should be starting to come together now - but they aren't. I'll admit he has been unlucky so far this season - but we still rely on individual brilliance rather than team play. In some ways that would be acceptable if we were organised defensively - but we still aren't. Something has to be wrong when our full backs continue to be exposed as they have been throughout Kean's tenure. Either he can't get his ideas across - or just can't organise the team.
