  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

My worries too.

I know Kean is useless and shouldn't be managing Blackburn Rovers but:-

which half decent manager could we get on the cheap, we all know Venky's won't splash out?

There are plenty of out of work managers that would come on the cheap, even 1 year deals would be an option if money is a big issue.

would Keans sacking unsettle any of his signings? the very players our premier league future depends on

Possibly but then managerial changes are common at most clubs and players find a way to play for their new manager. If they are true professionals they are committed to the cause. Robbo for example was signed under Ince, played better under Sam and still plays well under this poor manager we have now.

would Junior sign for another manager after praising Kean for giving him a regular place in the team?

Kean has been saying for the last 3 months that Junior will be signing a deal, why hasn't he? I have no background information but from an outsider looking in perhaps Junior doesn't rate Kean- hence why he still hasn't signed?

No doubt about it, it's a huge decision and I don't know which way is best to jump, this seasons not a write off yet.

Look at our fixture list going up to the new year, there are hardly any games on there that Rovers are favourites to win, especially under this manager. If you are at the bottom when January comes history shows you usually get relegated. The season could be written off very soon and our fate sealed.

Its beyond me as to how anyone can still be backing Kean the guy stabbed big Sam in the back took us from mid table to avoiding relegation on the last day. He blamed the fans for his drink driving saying one of us spiked him. When we play ###### he doesn't even acknowledge it so how can we improve? the guy is not only the worst manager in our entire history but he is also a Weasel and a horrible human being.

I don't feel it's a big decision waggy. The difference in meaming between "Steve Kean out" and, for example, "Forever and ever, we'll follow OUR team etc." is pretty clear.

I simply don't understand those who argue a protest damages the team. IF people want Kean out protest during a match is the only realistic option. Everything else I've read on here is just so much nonsense.

I will try to join Glen's march as he seems to be the only one actually doing something. Where and when is needed soon though.

You are spot-on.

This was debated to death towards the end of last season and the waverers, unfortunately, won.

I honestly think that it's now or never and I just hope that Glen's initiative proves to be the catalyst and supporters give him their actual support and not just lend kind words on this MB.

Well you know my opinion on this. You also know I've been consistent in saying that Venkys will never fire him.

That said we're between the rock and the hard place. If the protests were successful and arms were twisted then you know that Venkys would not have any succession planned, you also know that they couldn't afford the big name managers. Any selection would be made on only how dumb the applicant was and how little he would cost.

In some cases the cure is worse than the disease. We have to recognise what we've been reduced to as a club and what we have become under Venkys. Given where we are I fear that any change to Kean right now would be turkeys voting for Christmas.

Believe me I feel my skin start to creep as I type this but today there is no alternative to Kean. A managerial change will only have any effect if Venkys sell and we have a new beginning, if they don't - well then we are where we are.

I hate to say it, but sadly I think your maybe right. But I also think it is a chance we have to take. Kean is not good for the club, but neither are the owners.

With Kean in charge, this will be a bad season. So even if venkys appoint another useless bum licker, the season will be a disaster. It may come down to then protesting against the owners - which is where the blame lies.

I wish there was a way Rovers supporters could hurt their chicken business, just as they are hurting the club. I cannot help feel that venkys will not act until they feel the pressure on their chicken business. After all, that is the motive for them in owning a premier league football club.

Many of us moaned and groaned under the Walker Trust and their lack of investment / commitment to the club. But would welcome them back with open arms now. A campaign to get them back into the club, to do all they can do to buy out the venkys, may also be needed.

But the do nothing option, is just standing watching the club slowly die. I suggest that however feeble a responce from venky's maybe, we still have to try to do all we can and hope that something better happens.

To be honest I was one of those who said not to protest during matches. because we were fighting relegation, I considered fighting to stay in the prem took precedence. I believed, and still do believe that protests during matches last season would have had a detrementle effect on the players match concentration - when we needed them to focus on their football.

We survived in the premiership, which was the first target.

Now we need a change of manager and to be honest, maybe the owners.

Now at the beginning of the season - whilst there is still hope of turning the bad start to this season around - protests during matches, especially if venkys are in attendance, are now essential. The owners have to hear the protests and be in no doubt that the supporters are not happy with things as they are.

It appears that Kean has got the owners believing that everything is ok - when the truth is the opposite. Protests now will expose Kean as the liar that he is.

Whilst the drink driving bit still seems to get mentioned I feel it's worth me adding... Whilst on holiday recently I bumped into a father of apparently one of Keans best mates. Use to play together in Scotland when both younger. Anyway, on the day he was arrested he was apparently 'out on the lash all day' with this chap and his brother in law. The 'chap' mentioned to his father he couldn't believe Stevie managed to get into his car let alone drive it. Apparently 'steaming'.

Now this guy genuiely likes Kean but was shocked by this, I feel it's an honest story as the guy had no reason to lie about his sons pal.

So do all you who think he's a nice guy still think the same? Had a days session and then got in his car to risk his own life and others!

I have posted in the other thread more details, will try and confirm venue today, if you or anybody else has a good venue you think the March should start from please let me know, as folk will need to time to make their way to venue after parking up ect, as most will park where they usually do, but it needs to be a 10-15 min walk IMO

Two ideas....

  • Meet at Jack Walkers pub, walk down branch road, (Or meet at Golden cup and down main road) past furnhurst (away fans) – past the ground, up and around near the fox n hounds, round past the ewood arms, and then back up to the jack walker entrance?
  • Or meet at the pub on the canal near the old hospital? Big car park to all congregate – walk down the main road, past the aqueduct, straight past the ground and down the darwen end side of the jack walker, before a protest infront of the Jack Walker stand and then back around to the Jack Walker statue and another protest there??

That means he would have been drunk whilst being at the man U match. As much as I dislike Kean, I doubt that was the case.

Deffo gotta be from Uncle Jacks Pub as we will walk past away fans as well, we need a lot of press coverage from the start.

Glenn give Uncle Jacks Pub a call Im sure they would love thousands of us there as its exposure for their pub too.

I think your second option is the best one. though I don't think you would need to go down the darwen end. Police may object to that because of the away supporters.

But coming from the direction of the aqueduct as you mentioned and then to congregate outside Ewood Park, from the blues bar all around to the the Jack Walker stand and players entrance would be good. Others who, don't know about the march would join in any chanting. It will only be people on here who know about any protest happening. The chanting of Kean out would have to continue right up until the players come to the ground.

Whatever is mentioned about his drink driving scenerio this has nothing to do with the fact that the man cannot manage a football club at the highest level.

Yes he had a few too many, yes he got in a car to drive knowing full well he'd had well over the limit but and i'm not defending his actions here but i bet there's a few others on this forum who've done this and not thought about the concequences and also the biggest joke is that he said he had a drink then said he dodn't and then said he was spiked but that sums up the man.

This thread should be about the abilities of Steve Keans management and nothing else and at the present time it doesn't bode well for him.

You need to start off in the centre of town and that way you can pick up all the other fans on the way that don't know the protest will be happening. Also, you need to (if the protest goes ahead) notify Sky Sports and the local TV channel beforehand then they can video everthing to give you a better coverage. :)

He was 'on the lash' from full time (3pm) until he got in his motor.

Agree, he had a few in his office with Ferguson and then went into the village of Whalley (Whalley Arms to be precise) were he stayed until late on then tried driving down to his family in Surrey. :(

If there is going to be a protest then please can we open another thread on this forum to notify others?

I like Hughesy's choice from the aqueduct. Yet from Uncle Jacks is also good. Maybe from both directions and end at the Jack Walker stand would also be good. I suppose you have to take into consideration,

1/ where people park

2/ are they willing to walk down the branch road to Uncle Jacks - then back up again, especailly if it is raining.

3/ Going past the away supporters maybe be considered, by the Police, to be provocation. Lets be honest our opponents are happy for Kean to remain as the manager. They may even chant, "we want Kean in", which would be counter productive.

Maybe he was…..but my point being the ‘story’ said ‘all day’ – sounds a little made up if you ask me (personal opinion). Also had Kean been drinking from 3-9pm (around then he was pulled) then he would have been much further over the limit.

Anyway forget the drink driving……its NOT about that, its about his ability to manage our team to victories….

Too short bro, we need to gather people on our way down and the most people come from the direction of town, Moorings whooop whooooooo as we can gather on the car park. :)

Love it Hughesy :) It's all about his management skills or lack of them in this case.

To end, i love the fact that he was celebrating when we still hadn't guaranteed survival, maybe he really is that thick that he didn't know. :)

I think a plan to protest BEFORE the match is absolutely ridiculous. Fair enough AFTER if theres another unconvincing performance (I'd probably be tempted to join) but to do it before seems stupid, as any anger will definitely overspill into the ground and affect the players! This is the last thing we need right now when every Premier League point is crucial.

We are playing one of the weakest Arsenal sides theres been in the last 15 years and they have a poor record at Ewood anyway, its a real oppurtunity to get a win. So why risk affecting the players before a big match? GET BEHIND THE TEAM!!!

I'm not pro-Kean at all, I too am becoming more and more frustrated and unconvinced with every game that goes by, BUT give the guy a chance for gods sake! We've played one game since the end of the transfer window and we got a result away from home at a notoriously difficult ground. And but for the inexplicable misses of two penalties we'd have 4 points and be sitting mid table.

I agree that Kean is on borrowed time but ultimately it will be the owners who decide if and when he goes. Whatever happens I just think protesting BEFORE the match is pure stupidity.

We had this debate in the second half of last season.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and that should be respected.

However, many feel that this issue can't be left any longer otherwise it will simply be too late and we will be hurtling towards the Championship with no brakes or reverse gear.

I presume you dismiss his record from last season. Kean's lack of ability has been shown for all to see. It is not just about the four matches this season, but his whole time as manager of Rovers.

If anything, if the players are for kean, a protest before the match may even inspire them to play better, to try to prove the protestors wrong.
