Steve Kean's Hypnotoad
I think the confusion over whether we still play long-ball or not is because Allardyce is no longer our manager. And as the media told us, he plays long-ball far more than anyone else. And if any other manager says they're trying to play good football in an interview, then it must be true. Mike Graham
rovers have actually played more long balls than any other premiership team this season. we are also seventh in the number of goals scored. So we are scoring more and conceding more. Don't think we play that bad going forward We are shi7e going forward. However let's sort out the defence first please. I think back to Sam's time, every game I'd here from the usual folk around me 'get it down', 'why's Robbo taking it from there, '442', whilst every decent move would be ignored. Now its the opposite, every long ball is ignored and every pretty triangle in midfield is praised like we are the reincarnation of Brazil 1970. Paul Mellelieu
The way the team plays is more like how an amateur side plays. Our defenders aren't sure when to push up and when to hold a deep line. Our wingers don't track back, our central midfielders don't close down players on the edge of the box. We are woeful from set pieces, we don't know how to attack nor defend them. Our fitness levels are ######, Formica hasn't become stronger over the year, we don't run nearly as much as other teams and always seem to be caught out. Our younger players aren't developing, Rochina doesn't know when to pass or shoot. Hoilett puts his head in the ground and runs.. when we do attack the players who don't have the ball never take up the correct positions to help the man with the ball, a lot of times it looks like its a group of friends playing the ball to one another rather than succinct and sharp passes in order to move us closer to the goal. it's so frustrating watching us play. I'm no coach or manager and I can see these huge problems in our team, the current management is incompetent; I can't see how anyone could do a worse job than this clown Great summary. Roverall
Kean is a non-entity, albeit an extremely annoying and provocative one. VENKY'S are the problem - end of. The sooner everyone targets them the better.
BuckyRover
He is the most arrogant man boasting he is untouchable and lapping up his payrise. That would indicate that he isn't in cahoots with them and that he is mugging them off.
glen9mullan
Enjoyed a few days break, Not logging onto a computer has felt like heaven but now i'm all recharged. Good to see Paul Hunt doing a few interviews as this was one of the things I did say to him a couple of weeks ago that he needed to be doing, so full respect. Rob Palmer contacted me from SKY claiming that Steve Kean's PR guy had been in touch regarding Soccer Saturday. Kean claimed the show, Merson, Nicholas etc had treated him unfairly and he deserved some good press after his great performance as the Rovers Manager. The show asked if I would do an interview, (WEC Also done one) to be aired this saturday, Not to disappoint young Kean, I answered the questions honestly as Sky played devils advocate, and gave Kean just the opposite of what he wanted for this weekends show. I made it clear that No other employee in the history of the club has had a crowd so determined to get rid of them, and that Kean had burnt his bridges and there is no way back for him, from the majority of the crowd. I also told them there is 2 camps PRO and ANTI protest, however I told them that this should not be mistaken from the one umbrella most supporters sit under which is the Majarity of supporters want Kean out. Hope you enjoy it Steve :-)

I largely agree with what you have written - however - I don't think our fitness levels are ###### - we showed it against Newcastle in the Cup that it is more about motivation. I do think our young players are developing as individuals - but not necessarily as team players. Team pattern - one that is difficult to defend - but things have improved since Clement. IMO Kean would make an excellent youth team coach - I think he has improved our younger players - and does create a positive environment for them to develop. No matter what some people think - I am sure that, though he doesn't call the team in public, that he does work on the false positives (Kean speak for negatives) in training. The biggest problem - as your post highlights - I don't think he has the faintest idea how to create a team pattern. Being heavily influenced by Kean - I would like to finish on a positive - given how poorly we are set up tactically at the moment - as we have picked up points despite of this - it does hold out hope that we have the players who are good enough to get us out of this mess if we had a decent manager ! Jimmy612
Top performer? Bale....White Hart Lane....2009 How many times do you come across someone of Gareth Bales pace and quality in the prem, he rips everyone apart. He seriously went downhill when Allardyce went and Kean abandoned Diouf. He was arguably player of the season last year until Allardyce was sacked. He was left completely exposed everytime. Inexplicably though, Kean must have known Sal was falling out of favour so why on gods earth did he let Emerton swan off to Australia with no backup wahatsoever except an inexperienced central midfielder and a brazilian who is clearly not good enough. Baffling

John
I still think we look more threatening, in relation to the opposition's goal, when we play more direct - happened at the end of last season and was apparent versus Swansea.

Backroom DE. Posted December 9, 2011 Backroom Share Posted December 9, 2011 Rob Palmer contacted me from SKY claiming that Steve Kean's PR guy had been in touch regarding Soccer Saturday. Kean claimed the show, Merson, Nicholas etc had treated him unfairly and he deserved some good press after his great performance as the Rovers Manager. WTF. Is he actually serious? Words (almost) fail me. Those chumps sitting in the sky sports studio have given the little gnome more support than he's ever deserved, all they do is batter the fans and big up Kean... now he's complained they're treating him unfairly? He must have absolutely lost his mind because complaining about a non-existent bias against him at Sky seems to have motivated them to swing against him. In the words of Del Boy... "what a plonker".
