47er
Niko making stories up again? I know anout this one, a couple of weeks ago a group of fans met up at the Havelock and went down to the training ground when getting there, they demanded to see Kean and continued to protest outside the Police came and some people from in the training ground came out and spoke with them and said they could not meet with Kean, and the Police moved them on, No planned meeting and Kean saying no, just some supporters turning up on spec, demanding to see him Not quite the "gem" Niko imagined then? tcj_jones
He'll get the Bolton game. Win that and he stays for the United and Liverpool games at least. Lose or draw it and surely the he will have to get the sack? People are living in a dream world if they think any reputable managers would join us. It will be somebody from the lower leagues desperate for a shot in the Prem. Either that or another member of our back room staff with absolutely no managerial experience - the mascot maybe? 47er
We have to win on Tuesday for Kean to have the same record that Ince had when he got the sack. That's how bad he is. The next game is completely irrelevant, he must go NOW. But if we won that game, presumably Kean would get another 3 or 4 games in charge! It is ludicrous and could go on forever at this rate. We will win one every now and then, everybody does. It still doesn't make him a manager! He should have gone at the end of last season, I don't think anyone could save us now. SIMON GARNERS 194
You can image the scene now in Pune: Balaji, belly stuffed, farting loudly with one too many onion bhajis, legs spread out over his 'work' desk, shirt open to his belly and smoking Cuban cigar....... ''Why new manager, whats the fuss? Steveo very nice man, very good manager'' he farts again loudly with contented smile. Meanwhile back in merry England,Ewood is being devoured by Hades ! Well, we stayed up comfortably after we sacked Ince, and we aren't so far adrift that it's a lost cause. I retain hope we could do it with a decent manager in charge, we've got a squad better than quite a few around us. Paul Lambert would be my choice. Or God forbid if he's sacked any time soon, Owen Coyle??
adsfortheblues
What was said about him on Sunday supplement, anything? Just that he's an over promoted manager and that it's not just a pocket of fans anymore it's the whole ground! 67splitscreen
Pulling Souey out of his TV contract won't be cheap when you add in bonuses for staying up. He'd be my choice short term, think we would all take Hughes short or long term. Found this earlier, from around the time he was with us. A sports psychology summery on that splendid chap. He imbues his team with his powerful emotional strength, but finds it hard to trust his players enough to give them the freedom to play where their intelligence takes them. Through this paradox he stifles their creativity. The driven Souness can drive his players, but too often the journey comes to a shuddering halt down some lonely, dark cul de sac. So, does this imposition of will come at an inevitable cost? Will the very top jobs elude him because he is not yet able to stand back, like Ranieri or Wenger, to allow world-class players the freedom to play?. Let battle commence, wonder if Dunny would still get a renewed contract.
moerpho
Don't know if this has been mentioned but they were once again talking about the situation on norwegian tv after the game yesterday. Claus Lundekvam (former Southampton legend) was adamant that Kean was still here because he was involved in the takeover and also the firing of Sam. First time I've heard someone say this out loud on tv at least. Couple of months ago they would laugh at us, but now every time they mention Blackburn they show real sympathy for the fans. They also discussed who would take on the job if Kean was fired and all agreed that Venkys will have a hard time finding a replacement. Still just pundits talking but thought it was worth a mention. Paul Mellelieu
Watching Kean on the BBC after the game I actually felt sorry for the fella. He looked close to tears. It passed though when I looked the league table again.
Andy
I'm hearing from all sources (albeit on the t'internet) that he's certain to be fired at some point today, which if true, is magnificent news. What an absolute abomination of an appointment in the first place - it was clear after a handful of matches that he was completely out of place and it was only ever going to end in tears, but to be fair to all Rovers fans, we all give him plenty of time to prove otherwise. I can see Hughes or Souey returning on a short-term deal, but I would happily take Grant, Jones or Curbishley over Kean any day of the week.
