booth
To be perfectly honest, in all this the way Venky's have treated Kean has been a disgrace. They know he is not up to it, they know he is having to put up with horrendous levels of abuse and they know that he must be close to cracking up under all the pressure. They know that the only humane course of action is to put him out of his misery and sack him. He can't resign as he has been handed the best contract he will ever receive in his life. Will the Venky's put him out of his misery? This is a family who lives off the slaughter of living creatures. What do they care about acting with dignity? Their entire performance as owners of Rovers has been shameful. I'm actually feeling that Kean himself has turned into yet another victim of Venky's and the greed of Jerome Anderson. Kean takes the heat of Venky's and Anderson continues to represent a man clearly out of his depth, and clearly suffering from an intolerable situation. BRFC 2011 - run by a thoroughly detestable bunch of people. In some ways you are right, but if Kean had wanted to get the fans onside he could have easily criticized Venky's and been more honest about what was going on. But so desperate to keep his job he sided with the owners, knowing full well that even though he would take abuse from the fans the owners would keep him in a job if he remained a happy bunny with them. As a result, in the longer term he has backed the wrong horse. He could have been the voice of the fans and I believe the fans would have appreciated that. They may have even forgiven him for his shortcomings. They can't sack him without paying him a lot of compensation so I don't know why he's decided to try and manage the club under such difficult circumstances, rile the fans with his pressers, and keep up the party line. Can you imagine Souness or Hughes doing that? Can you imagine any half decent manager doing that? They'd either walk (see O'Neill) or be publicly critical and explain honestly to the fans why they are having difficulties managing the club (see Clough, Souness, Allardyce). So in many ways he's dug his own grave. And regardless of whatever happens he will walk away from Ewood a lot richer than he was when he arrived. Even his fiercest critics (and I'm one of them) can't have failed to feel some compassion on a human level for him last night? No doubt that the picture was a sad one. But I only felt anger at him and it would honestly have made me feel better if it made him cry. But the look on his face when Yak scored just turned me off completely. Kean is a vile man, and what is sadder than his situation, is the one he and the Venky's have put our club in. This sounds really evil, but it would not pain me at all if the worst things were to happen to him. I hate him.
FourLaneBlue
He is the worst manager in the history of the club, but he is also in a very difficult position right now. Venky's could do the decent thing by him and by the club by sacking him, but they - and Anderson - just don't want to.
Steve Moss
Even his fiercest critics (and I'm one of them) can't have failed to feel some compassion on a human level for him last night? Not true. I believe he did not get half of what was coming to him last night. A public flogging and a week in the stocks would not be enough. In my opinion, Steve Kean has behaved in a detestable manner and is a contemptible human being.

eire3382
This is a bad situation for everyone. The fans are going through the ringer and there is quite a devide after developing in the fan base. Kean is out of his depth and is struggling with everything. He was probably given too much for one person. For me though his attitude has been terrible, in particluar towards the fans. You can feel some sympathy for him but its hard not to hate him. The owners hadn't a clue what they were getting into. Whatever their initial plans were for the club (good or bad intentions who knows) are pretty much in ruins. They can (unlike Kean in my opinion) turn their situation around, we all know how and its been said many times. The players have been dragged along for the ride and it can't be nice being in the middle of this mess. The only winner is JA (and his son), he is singing all the way to the bank. Groundhog
Perhaps the view is one more transfer window for certain people to enjoy themselves again....one last time.... I wouldn't be surprised. They'll squeeze the last of the juice out now, and wait for the summer to dismantle it fully. Can anyone shed any light into what happened around the dugout with the fans during the game, and at the final whistle? Was sat in the Riverside so couldn't see a thing. Heard things about a fan throwing his shirt etc

gumboots
you for real.. ?? i see your in glasgow! you must be related! compassion! youre just jumping on the band wagon of condeming rovers fans! I might feel sorry for him if it wasn't his own greed keeping him there. he can walk away at any time - he just won't get a big payoff that he'll get if they sack him. Surely you get out now and give yourself a good christmas with your kids and your wife, if they matter at all to you. You have no chance of making good the damage you have done with most fans. you could still have a decent life with what you have already. My son sat there with us last night and said " I'd hate to be his kids going into school each day knowing there are that many people who absolutely hate your dad's guts" They must have to put up with a heck of a lot of stick even down there in Surrey or wherever. I couldn't do that to my family however myuch I was being paid or however proud i was - I'd have to walk. But it appears he won't and that's why I can't feel sorry for him. Mattyblue
I don't feel sorry for him in the slightest. He was ruthless in getting the job, you live by the sword... Venky's have given him a free reign at a PL football club, they have made him a millionaire. He could have resigned at any time, if he was to put his family first. My link lets not forget -he stood in the technical area for 90 minutes- giving everyone the opportunity to berate him! youve summed it up fantastically, gumboots. his family will be suffering much more than kean himself.. i have compassion for them of course - but the man himself could remove himself from the situation. Stuart
Thanks for that booth. You can see the pain etched on his face. He must be more gutted than most to see what the club has become. jim mk2
Looks like the media are starting to feel some pity for Kean today. I can understand it to an extent because he is a human being and the emotional backlash last night must have hurt him, . A decent human being would have resigned by now out of shame both at his own personal failure and in the wider interests of the club. Kean does not deserve any sympathy, none whatsoever. And fans should not care if the abuse hurts him because he has brought this on himself through sheer incompetence. He is a conman, delusional and a liar. He is an embarrassment to my club and is dividing supporters some of more than 50 years' standing who are refusing to go near Ewood again while he and Venky's are in charge. The past 12 months have caused more damage to Rovers than any period in my lifetime - and there have plenty of lows over the years. All Steve Kean thinks about is Steve Kean - not the wellbeing of the club or the feelings of supporters. He and Venky's are slowing killing my club - and I hate them for it. Let's not forget that he brought his son to a recent press conference when he knew he'd be faced with questions about fan discontent etc. Anyway, I've given up hoping he'll be sacked, and I implore everyone else to do the same. At any other club, he'd have been booted ages ago, hell, he wouldn't have been hired in the first place. Unfortunately, Rovers are being run by an absolute circus. I expect Kean to be here right to the bitter end.
Groundhog
So upsetting to see Parkes clearly moved by whats going on at the club. Seems to know things that we don't too, the hint at the fact that Kean will be here for a while, says everything.
