  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

As long as Kean is here, the owners wont be held to task and nothing will change. We need a manager who will come in and demand that the job is done his way. No more interference in the footballing side of things from the owners is an absolute must. We must have a manager who will insist on taking the major decisions and be prepared to be judged on results.

Get in a manager who will work along those lines and we can kill two birds with one stone. We can sort out the owners and the manager with one appointment. Fail to do this and nothing will, IMO, change.

And for those nervous Noras wondering who will come to Ewood then if no one of 'repute' will, then simply put Nelsen and the wily Tony Parkes in charge.

Funnily enough I reckon with this impending protest on Saturday that Nelsen or more likely, Roberts, will plea with the fans through the media to not take part and to get behind the Manager and team.

I think you are absolutely right unless of course the publicity conscious Venkys bin him before Saturday !!! I certainly think that they will have been taken aback by the publicity that this is generating already. Momentum is key in these type of things and Venkys / Kean will now be swimming against the tide given the genie is now out of the bottle.

From a source who I am unsure of his reliability, Rovers have had meetings to find ways of countering any impact of the march on Saturday, just what they will be I dont know, this information has been given to me by a rep who has just called to see me!!

Counteracting the fans will do them absolutely no good. It will only intimidate them even more.

Actually the perfect way they could counter the impact of the march and stop the negative publicity Venky's will get from it is to sack him. Sack Kean before the game, and then the march/protest will very likely be called off.

Not sure there is anything else they can do except get rid of him, the police have given the march/protest the ok so they can't appeal to get it stopped.

It absolutely staggers me that we have waverers arguing to give Kean more time when it's as clear as day that we are hurtling into the abyss.

Simple facts:

Last 18 PL games P18 W2 Points 13.

How much clearer can that be.

And for those nervous Noras wondering who will come to Ewood then if no one of 'repute' will, then simply put Nelsen and the wily Tony Parkes in charge. TP has forgotten more about football than Billy Bullsh1t ever knew and I feel certain that he would be up for it. Gossip that I've picked-up as to why he recently left his scouting role with Rovers is, frankly, startling and alarming, and tells you all you need to know about the state of our club due to Kean.

Nelsen, you want a 33 year old player to manage us? And the wily Tony Parkes who's latest caretaker stint at Blackpool was mediocre and who hasn't been involved in football for over 2 years, the same Tony Parkes who Mark Hughes immediately replaced on arriving at Rovers? The guy is an absolute legend but is he really the coach/manager Rovers fans like to make him out to be?

Its possibilities like these which are exactly why I want Kean to be given more time. Most Rovers fan haven't the faintest idea who could replace Kean, the few suggestions have ranged from unrealistic to absurd, and I'm sure Venkys will come up with even more bizarre ones that would make the blood chill. I'm expecting the worst for our new appointment. Given our position, owners, finances, crowds and chairman (yes, what chairman), it'll be the least desired Rovers managerial vacancy in recent history.

All speculation.

The owners, if they really want to turn this club into a successful club once again, have a great opportunity here. Go looking for a manager who commands respect in the footballing world and offer him full control over team affairs and transfers. Allow him to bring in his own men. Give him the promise of financial backing as they promised to do. I imagine there are plenty of managers who could offer far more than Steve Kean ever will, who would be willing to come in, under those conditions.

The benefits to the owners would be tremendous. One of the biggest advantages, would be that this would see the end of JA and his astronomical agents fees. No other manager would allow him the license he's had at Ewood. It would finally rid the club of Kentaro and get us back to being run as we should be run.

Simply giving Kean a few more games is going to change nothing. Even if we do hit a bit of form, which is highly unlikely, the fundamental problem of the club's structure wont change. If that doesn't change, there's nothing for us.

Cannot agree. Admittedly we are unlikely to recruit a manager from another Prem club but almost all championshoip managers and below would jump at the chance. As would many managers in top leagues abroad. As would out of work managers.

If we were trying to replace a Dalglish or a Hughes with a better manager it would be very tough.

But we are looking to replace the worst manager the club has ever had and one that would certainly struggle to get a job in the top 2 divisions elsewhere.

I don't think it matters who you replace this guy with they COULD NOT be any worse! Last season i thought i'd give him a chance to learn from his mistakes & naivety but he doesn't. He keeps starting with Dunn who can't finish a game, hasn't replaced Salgado who was completely found out last season. He plays strikers on their own up front who simply don't have the ability to do that job. I could go on, but to put it simply he is not getting results & i don't believe its through lack of ability in the squad, its because of his ineptitude.

I totally agree with everything you written - but how likely is it to happen ? This is my big fear - Kean sacked and left with nothing (can't believe some are mentioning Nelsen while in the same breath saying Kean doesn't have experience)

Firstly, Rovers are still a massive pull. I think you would find that the likes of Curbishley, Jones etc would crawl over broken glass to get the chance. Are they exciting, no, not particularly, however, they have records, experience and respect far better than Kean and would be an immediate improvement.

Secondly, my comments re Nelsen and Parkes were on the basis that no one would come which is highly unlikely. I'd have great difficulty in believing that these two in tandem would do any worse than Kean. Parkes has the experience, know how, 'been there seen it done it' etc whilst Nelsen strikes me as an intelligent guy who generally commands respect. Above all, they both have integrity.

It's simple - if nothing changes, we are goosed !!!

Not being funny, but to say that Rovers isn't an attractive propositon for a manager is absurd.

Regardless of the situation with the owners, we're still a premier league club with a half decent squad!

I do agree with those concerned over who we get in to replace Kean... Venky's have shown absolutely no evidence they have the ability to appoint an able replacement, and lies such as this and if Kean is sacked this will make any manager think twice about our owners and wonder if they can trust a single word that comes out of their mouths. It's a pit Venky's have dug for themselves and they have nobody to blame but themselves, it's just a shame we as fans have to suffer the consequences of their actions.

At this point, regardless, I don't see how it could get any worse... Kean's record is so appalling almost anyone could surely do a better job.
