From a source who I am unsure of his reliability, Rovers have had meetings to find ways of countering any impact of the march on Saturday, just what they will be I dont know, this information has been given to me by a rep who has just called to see me!!

Normal practice when such things are planned. The Police would inform the club, the club would warn the staff to maybe get in earlier in case of any disruption or kick offs from thugs hijacking the march etc. Stewards would be briefed to be extra alert etc etc. More so if the owners are coming over for the match.

Counterng measures, I doubt very much. I cannot see a group of people coming out of the ground chanting "we want Kean to stay" etc Safety precautions etc, different story.

I do not think it is anything to worry about. Could infact be a good thing. Especially if the owners are being informed about the protest march and the reason for it.

Bruce may be more experienced but isn't a great manager I think most will agree. Despite this, Bruce has done a better job at SFC than Kean has at BRFC.

Also Sunderland fans want Bruce out.

Saying Sunderland had a similar run to justify Kean staying on seems like flawed logic.

I do not think we can compare supporters of other clubs reaction to management etc. Look at Asenal for example. Just cos they have not won a trophy for years and the transfer policy, some want Wenger out. Yet the club has not finished outside the top ten for years and years. If arsenal were in Rovers position, their fans would be suicidal.

I think Venkys will be rattled by all this and no doubt taken aback.

They will be looking to 'pull-in' favours, so expect the likes of Kevin Gallacher, Nicko (see his Twitter) etc to be proactive.

Interestingly enough, I understand that a number of Rovers' employees are struggling to contain their delight at what's going-on !!!

Is nobody else worried that the protest march will work - Kean will be sacked - and we will be left with Jensen while our owners frantically try yo get somebody in place.

I made the point before - they are rumoured to have tried to get Benitez and failed - so they are obviously looking - but have obviously been unable to get somebody they consider adequate.

Whether you like him or not - it is rumoured the players largely do like him (not saying the liking a manager is necessarily a good thing). Given the turmoil our club has been in - Kean has actually been one of the few constants for the players - imagine removing that constant and just having the turmoil. Think how the players will react to the vacuum left behind.

All I am saying is that the anti-Kean people should be careful what they wish for - by all means replace with a decent manager - but the lynch mob just seem to be concentrating on getting Kean sacked and for some reason thinking we will from thin air appoint a decent manager. Given the experience during the transfer window - which do people think is the most likely - we get in a new manager quickly - or we remain largely rudderless for months virtually ensuring relegation ?

Absolutely right DMTP! You have fully stated all my fears and concerns and saved me the task. It is SO easy to go off half-cocked and do far more damage than good in your haste to tackle a problem, and as a result finish up in a far worse position than the one you are trying to escape from. Careful planning and preparations are essential before embarking on this course. It is much easier to simply persuade the owners to sack Kean, but without a ready made tried and tested replacement waiting to take over virtually immediately, and also having (somehow) found out FOR CERTAIN how the players are going to react, it is virtually suicidal folly to just dive in and get Kean sacked immediately. THINK AND PLAN FIRST.

paff, check out arsenal's form since the carling cup final and its comparable to rovers' ;)

To be fair we were 5 points above the drop zone when he took over and 4 when the season ended.

That said I still think he should be gone, we have only outscored a team once (or there abouts) in the 2nd half of matches since he took over... I think that says something about his tactical know how compared to his peers.

To be fair, that was with 17 matches played. Spread over another 21 matches we would expect the point tally above the drop zone to increase not decrease, if Kean were any good as a manager.

Nelsen, you want a 33 year old player to manage us? And the wily Tony Parkes who's latest caretaker stint at Blackpool was mediocre and who hasn't been involved in football for over 2 years, the same Tony Parkes who Mark Hughes immediately replaced on arriving at Rovers? The guy is an absolute legend but is he really the coach/manager Rovers fans like to make him out to be?

Its possibilities like these which are exactly why I want Kean to be given more time. Most Rovers fan haven't the faintest idea who could replace Kean, the few suggestions have ranged from unrealistic to absurd, and I'm sure Venkys will come up with even more bizarre ones that would make the blood chill. I'm expecting the worst for our new appointment. Given our position, owners, finances, crowds and chairman (yes, what chairman), it'll be the least desired Rovers managerial vacancy in recent history.

Nelson and Parkes would be head and shoulders above Kean. Heck, my grandmother would be better. At least she would admit she was clueless and would try to bring in competent help.

That's because it's a totally meaningless question. There's no point to it.

All these negative posters get me down.

I have been reading the many posts about Steve Kean and I must say that I am one of those who voted to give him more time. Now I am one of quite a few Rovers fans who also agree to give him more time (For a start all my family, people I sit with at the games think he should be given a bit more time). I would say most of these are the more older and conservative Rovers fans, 50+ year olds who have been going down Ewood since the 60's and who do not have access to this message board; the wise and intelligent people some would say but that is a matter of opinion. They have not been fed the jargon that some posters have put on here on what he has allegedly done or not, which agent is involved, who spoke to who, who did this and that. I am not interested on how he got the job, what has been said behind the scenes, if he is a drunk or not, etc.

I am looking at the facts on the pitch. To sack a Manager after 4 games is just stupid, especially after letting him spend all our money on his signings. The press would laugh at us and pundits would also call it a joke. At least give him time to work with his new buys. Let’s take the last 4 results of last season, 8 points and at a time when we needed those most which shows he can work under pressure. Also I was at the Wolves game, was that not the best half of football by Rovers in recent times?? I thought we were exceptional. Some of the stuff we are trying to play is exciting and I now actually look forward to going to games as I think we have the potential to be excellent, back to the days of Duff, Dunn and Jansen or before that the Dalglish era. If we could take a penalty then we would have 4 points from 4, if we had a fit defender for the Wolves game we would have drawn if not won that.

That said I do have issues with Kean, why did we have any fit defenders for the Wolves game? Why does he seem to be ultra positive after performances when we are not that good? Yes praise us when we are great but after Fulham, bar 20 minutes in the first half, come on that was average. Also letting Emerton go was puzzling, at least wait till January so we could replace him, timing did seem strange. Some of substitutions are not the best, Fitness is questionable (Goodwillie having cramp in his hamstrings, how unfit must that kid be, you would not see that down Sunday League from men who have been out on the lash the night before). I personally think he needs to be more honest with the fans, be more straight talking, tells us when we are rubbish, we all know when we are. The lack of a midfield general is a worry, but we say that year on year about Rovers, light in central midfield.

From an outsider looking in it would be a joke to sack him now but we must see an improvement on the pitch in terms of both results and performance. I would give him the next two games. If we lose the next two then he would have to go based on its then City at home and we will struggle to get anything out of that. At the moment he seems to be very unlucky manager but there is only a certain amount of time you can be unlucky for until it is time to get the chop. I don't like Steve Kean, but I can see what he is trying to do footballing wise, now is not the time to march but if results continue then I will have to agree with the sack Kean mob.

In the name of God matty!

2 wins in 19 games, his awful record since he has been in charge speaks for itself. You cannot ignore the awful statistics or tart them up to look better.

As long as Kean is here, the owners wont be held to task and nothing will change. We need a manager who will come in and demand that the job is done his way. No more interference in the footballing side of things from the owners is an absolute must. We must have a manager who will insist on taking the major decisions and be prepared to be judged on results.

Get in a manager who will work along those lines and we can kill two birds with one stone. We can sort out the owners and the manager with one appointment. Fail to do this and nothing will, IMO, change.

Yes you are right in what you say Den, but my point is that all this should have been tackled and a permanent solution found IMMEDIATELY the the last season ended; NOT waited until we are several games into a new season and already rock bottom in the PL

.The whole subject of convincing the Venkys of Keans' limitations as a manager and of identifying and recruiting the RIGHT person to take over will be a very difficult task now (almost impossible?) and I believe one that the Venkys on their own will NEVER get right. All this should have been carefully thought out and planned in the weeks immediately following the last game of last season. Trying to just fly in mob-handed (literally) now will simply cause untold chaos and harm with the players and to the club in general. It NEEDS careful planning and a very diplomatic approach to the possible "right" candidate and make sure that everybody concerned in the whole exercise knows and FULLY understands what it is that the various interested parties are expecting and how they are going to achieve their various goals. Anything less than this approach will simply lead to even more disaster.

Respect to you for your opinion and tone, it's fair.

He will not get sacked before the Arsenal game.

I would predict his record after the Arsenal game will read Played: 26 Won: 5 PL games. this is unbelieveably bad. And I think papers have highlighted this.

If you listen to the pundits I think they will honestly say, he shouldn't have got the job in the first place, well thats what Dixon and Lawence suggested I thought.

I think the joke was hiring him and that will be highlight.

As Lawence said "I don't see why they sacked Allardyce in the first place".

I would suggest he is one of the luckiest managers alive to hold down a job when he is clearly so out of his depth, tactically, he is one of the poorest I have seen at any level of football including non league!!

Or 4 wins in 22 games depending on the way you look at it, which is prime example how you can twist the facts to make things a lot worse or better than they are. I could easily say 9 points in the last 8 games, 2 wins in the last 8, compared to your "2 wins in 19 games". You are picking out certain period in time to back up your argument. Yes his record is poor; it needs to get better quick but sacking a manager after 4 games, just after a transfer window is stupid.

After 7 games then let’s look at it, give him a least a 5th of the season. Unfortunately for Kean he has Arsenal and City in the next 3 games but that is his fault for having such a poor start, he needs results against them or he is out in my opinion. He knew the importance of a good start and he has not delivered, now let’s see how he does against the big boys of the league. Remember Wolves last season has some great results against the big 4 at home, maybe Kean can do the same. Give him that chance and then decide. What Venky’s should be doing not is preparing for the worst now so if they have to sack Kean they have somebody lined up. I have a feeling though they will not have a clue and we will be left in limbo if Kean is sacked.

Kean's appointment in the first place was both "bizarre" and "absurd" and for most Rovers fans there is nothing more chilling than the prospect of him staying in charge for much longer. Could anyone have done a worse job ? The danger of sticking with a lameduck manager was shown by West Ham last season who made the mistake of standing by Grant even though they looked doomed from the first few matches - which is exactly the position we are in now. West Ham of course have rectified their error by appointing an experienced, respected and competent manager, in fact just the sort of man we need at the helm to get us out of this crisis...........

Well Fife, if the club do nothing, we are going down - and after 9 months I suggest that there is absolutely no evidence to say that we wont. In fact, the evidence says we will go down. The consequences of that are frightening.

Replacing a manger can take a while, or it can be done quickly. That's down to the owners getting their fingers out. I don't see that as a reason for keeping him on.

I always respect your posts Fife - might not agree with everything you say, but on this one, are you saying the best option is to keep Kean? Because from your recent posts, I thought you wanted rid.

He's had 29 games and two transfer windows. Some posters continue to suggest that this is his first transfer window, but it isn't. We didn't improve after the first one and we haven't improved after the latest one. In fact, I would suggest that the squad last season, is stronger than this seasons.

Yes I agree with this. The only stronger area this season is the flair side but that is it.
