  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

Its when you read that kind of rubbish you see that kean and the media only pay attention to those who back the fool and ignore everyone else.

Its crazy that on one side there are managers who of course want the idiot in charge as his "tactical know how" will earn their sides points against rovers.

Again I wonder how many of those managers share a certain agent with our beloved manager.

The idea that a moron like kean is unsackable makes me sick when you see honest managers like big Mick at wolves getting the bullet.

Have't been to ewood since he got his contract extension and won't return until the fool is gone!

Almost.

'Not cutting it' at a club like Blackburn is constantly being in threat of relegation, whilst telling the press that 'there's no way at all that we'll be relegated' and we're aiming to finish in Europe.

Cutting it is finishing comfortably mid-table and above, which good managers like Hughes and Big Sam were able to do.

You believe cutting it at Rovers is finishing mid table and above? With our finances etc? Hughes and Big Sam can more than cut it in the Premier League, but if Rovers stop up this season then Kean can too. He will have done.

To win around Fergie, a pal of Allardyce's, he must be doing something right. There's no way he's got Ferguson under his thumb.

Ferguson will do and say whatever he has to, all he wants is a win. We were due to play them soon after and I believe he was just worried he would have to face a real manager.

And yes I know the players did beat utd on the day but that is one of very few good days under our beloved overlord.

Expect the speculation to start very soon about a Steve Kean contract extension ;)

Did he not just get one a few months ago? Or is this the big ten year iron-clad dignity-sealed contract I've been hearing about?

Even Kean's propagander in chief, Paul Agnew said mere 'survival would not be progress'.

So, as he comes towards the end of his second season, with no progress (we have regressed, looking at the table) why is he still here? Kean is trying his best, I'm sure, but the club is flirting with disaster as he learns the ropes.

Didn't see this originally.

Well we weren't discussing progression, we were discussing cutting it. With what's been happening at the club recently, and then just generally it being Rovers and the difficulty we already have in staying in the Prem, he's cutting it if he stops up again.

Hmm...but it's due to Kean's ineptitude and complete incompetence why we're even in a relegation fight to start with.

If I stab somebody but just about save their life with poorly-administered first aid, does that make me a hero for keeping them alive?

I think you are missing the point. All he has to do to be cutting it at a team like us, all things considered, is keeping us in the league.

So, according to Kean himself we were 'aiming for top ten' after the August window and beyond.

Would you say that he'd believe he was 'cutting it' if we avoid relegation?

Surely that can only be the case if he achieves his own objectives that he set?

Let me get this straight: Because Kean & Venky's have turned us into a relegation-threatened side, it's therefore an achievement if we manage to save our own skin? That's some of the most absurd circular logic I have ever read.

Comedy Gold!

And yet a lot of people are still selling this notion, including Kean as store manager and Braddock on the checkout.

Nobody is saying it's ideal. We haven't progressed. I expected us to be doing better, though I presumed Venky's had more.

All things considered though, given how awful everybody says Kean is, he's doing well.

Mercer, that wink face better mean you are pulling our plonkers!

All I'm saying is just remember when it started before and all the denials etc.

Present contract ends in a little more than 12 months' time and he's doing well - getting rid of all the highly paid players yet on track to maintain PL status and highly rated by Fergie & the next England manager !!!

You couldn't make it up !!!

Don't be surprised by an announcement should we break 30 points in the next couple of weeks or so.

I was right you do believe you can polish a turd.

I can't see what you don't understand. If the likes of yourself are to be believed and he's so awful, he's somehow performing miracles.

Everything has to be taken in context.

These people aren't leaving. Get over it.

I don't see what's so difficult to understand about how poorly Kean is doing.

We have a decent squad, certainly worthy of mid table and under any half decent manager, that's where we'd be.

But Kean's guidance sees us fighting for our lives with the Boltons and Wigans.

So why are people moaning about player sales if we still have a mid table team?

So it's gone to the general mood being 'It's Allardyce or we're down' to 'worthy of mid table under any half decent manager'?

I don't consider leading a comfortably mid-table team to two relegations dogfights a miracle, I would use disaster. His record is worse than Kidd and Ince, he holds the worst run in 40 of our years and is the proud manager of the team that has gone the longest without a clean sheet in top flight history. How does that not make him awful. Football is all about getting the team to perform on match days, even after 18 months he still cannot do this, has he even managed back to back wins?

If only you would appreciate the context of what has happened.

They may not be leaving, but I don't have to get over it or get on board.

All you have to do is get behind the team. Which ideally means no anti anything songs for 90 minutes. That's all that can be asked for. Protests are fine, though I'll ridicule them, but really I don't care about that stuff any more. What annoys me is the hostile atmosphere the youngsters have had to play in at times. Things are improving with the crowd, though I hope the idiots don't revert back as soon as a game is lost. Relegation does not bear thinking about so it's time to get behind the team.

As a side issue, I quite like the football played under Kean. That's the thing which isolates me one here. And the delivery of my posts. Like I said though, if you guys are to be believed, this is armageddon. If that's the case he's doing superb. I happen to believe he's simply cutting it.

I quite like you Braddock. I admire your ballsy stance over Kean. I think you put accross your arguments well and i think for a site like this to exist, people like yourself are vital. Hell, todays posts could be halved if it wasn't for you.

I can't say i hold the same unwavering support of Kean that you do. However, i have been and still am of the opinion that he could have something about him. I just feel that he needed to cut his teeth lower down the football pyramid. Learning your trade (self inflicted or otherwise) in the premier league is like learning to swim in a pool full of hungry sharks. You will likely fail. I think he has been hung out to dry by our god awful owners. A point which i am certain we do not share.

However, despite my nagging and unusual optimism, i cannot deny the fact he has failed. At the start of this season Rovers had as good a squad as we have had in a long while. Very decent young players coming through all at the same stage, some hard workers, a solid looking back four and even some scattered flair further forward. Yet we find ourselves over half way through the same season and all the promise is gone. Kean has had his fair share of misfortune regarding assistants. To lose one may be regarded as misfortune: to lose two looks like carelessness. However for all his misfortune in terms of restraints from above and staff leaving etc... he has made too many self inflicted poor decisions. Mainly on match days. This is where i would expect a coach to thrive. Often he shows his hand too soon. Makes changes when we're on top and loses momentum. A word he likes to use himself.

If i am honest, i have no reason to believe the rumours about him. Yes i think his appointment whiffed a bit. What with Jerome etc... anyone would be crazy to think otherwise. Yes i'd far sooner have Allardyce because he is top drawer. His football was morbid, but his results were essential and not unappreciated by me personally. But i don't hate Kean. He is just not good enough to do his job. He is trying to take his big chance. It's our neglectful owners who should take the blame.

Really? I've found most of his arguments fall like a house of cards once you prod them, and he moves onto the next bait.

The team aren't playing right now, in fact they aren't even training so I can say what I like. Matchdays I have other things to worry and unfortunately struggle to get along to watch my team. However that wasn't what we were discussing was it?

Do I like losing football no chance. Football is a results business and we aren't/haven't been getting them. Pre season it was obvious we weren't good enough and we still are not, thank god it appears that others are worse.

To say he's doing superb is akin to praising a kid from moving up to 9th one year after finishing 10th in a 10 man race, despite training like a trojan. Personally I'd be suggesting alternative sports for the little tyke.
