  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

So the relegation teams who are averaging less than a point per game across the season are going to catch up with Villa one 33 points?

I think the 8 points they have on us and the 11 points on becoming 18th will see them save as houses.

Moron

Though you only have to see them 6 points (a couple of games) off relegation for them to be concerned, as is the nature of pessimistic fans. Especially pessimistic fans with a Scot in charge who they don't like ;)

Villa will pick up points as well and when was the last time we took 6 points from two games?

Never in Keans reign have we won back to back games, so I reckon it's highly unlikely they'll be concerned anytime soon.

In the same period since Keans golden age Villa have picked up 17 points, playing 13 games. They may have a tricky run in but they'll pick up a decent number, they're not that bad either goals wise GD-4 (ours -20). We can only aspire that one day the sun smiles on us like that.

I agree that Villa won't become entangled, but it's just an interview. I don't really care what he says. He's had his back against the wall since taking the job so he's continually on the defensive. If something positive happens and I was in his situation then I'd pounce on it, after all, you've seen some of my posts right?

He's a lying sack of dog turds that should be put up against the wall, he has never been good enough for this job in any way shape or form, he's there because he is a spineless Venky's puppet who has sold his soul and the future of Rovers for a pot of gold.

Back against the wall since taking the job?

Hardly.

The vast majority of fans gave him more than enough time to prove that he isn't a completely useless and incompetent turd - far too much time in my opinion then and now.

He is absolutely awful, his record is awful and he's a proven liar.

The only reason we have any chance of survival is because the 5 teams down there are extremely poor, probably the worst 5 teams ever to grace the Premiership, or near enough. Whilst managing to stay up would be a great achievement, especially with a manager that’s clueless and championship standard players, it only prolongs the inevitable for me, if its not this season it will certainly be next.....

What about the 3 clubs that come up though? And the other team that survives with us? (especially if its Bolton with small resources). Plus maybe Norwich?

Interesting that at this stage last season - Wolves had 29pts and Wigan 27pts......not this year

Can't find a suitable JA thread to put this in, so I've gone with this one.

I was speaking to a regular who comes into my work, and he mentioned that fact that he had spoken to a chap who works for Jerome Anderson (SEM/Kentaro) and this guy was convinced that JA had eventually been kicked in the teeth by Venkys.

Apparenly Andersons intention was to bring good players to the club, and that each brother was going to put in £50m each before Mrs D put a stop to it.

Cisse (now at Newcastle) was apparently a done deal for the region of £7-8million, and there was some young Belgian lad who is allegedly an up and coming quality player who was almost here too until the plug was pulled financially by Venkys.

I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind that JA still instigated Steve Kean getting the job, and that had all of this come off, the transfer fees would have been followed up by massive agency payments (similar to Rochina), but I do wonder whether JA's idea was to do a similar thing to at City e.g. bring in some talented players and try to develop a decent team at Rovers.

It would make sense wouldn't it? For Anderson to want to bring in decent players, develop a decent squad and make a good name for himself and SEM, whilst undoubtedly filling his pockets with outrageous agents fees.

Anyway according to the guy who works for Anderson, he was disgusted with Venkys and washed his hands of them some time ago.

This obviously is not a nailed on, completely reliable source, but it made interesting conversation whilst at work! Also I'm sure the guy working for JA would perhaps be a little bit biased in his opinions.

I find Kean's constant pops at Samba quite sad. To my knowledge Samba hasn't said anything about Kean. Shows the type of character he is.

Agree completely, I'm dreading next season regardless of which division we're in.

That looks about right, actually. Not sure the brothers were going to put 50m in each but think there was an initial plan to put significant money in but that didn't make business sense to Mrs D. There is no doubt Kean is in the job because of Mrs D's close relationship with SEM at the time. JA has certainly been dumped by Mrs D after being duped by the massive agent fees taken by SEM.

1. As I said, whilst I believe the local had been involved in a discussion with a Kentaro employee, whether the finer details are quite correct who knows e.g. £50m each is probably a way off the mark.

I just wonder who convinced Venkys and in particular Mrs D to buy the club. There appears to be little or no intention from them to develop the club, rather let us sail towards catastrophe with Steve Kean in charge. Had they even considered finances before they bought the club or had the wool been well and truly pulled over their eyes?

2. This is why I get angry when I get told that people 'feel sorry for Steve Kean'. Its as clear as day to me that he and JA who had a plan to get him the job and that he backstabbed Allardyce in order to do so. People saying he has no support etc.. he engineered this little situation for himself, he can (Please don't use that word again) off he thinks he's getting my sympathy.

3. Yep, you can only assume Mrs D looked at the Rochina/Formica transfers, looked at the attached agents fees and told JA to bugger off.

My guess is that JA saw that they were a little 'naive' and saw an opportunity to make massive fees for his agency, whilst getting his client and his son a new job. Whether his intention was to develop a decent team at Rovers is a different question. I can only assume he may as well have done, had the agents fees been there at the end of each transfer.

If you haven't watched the dispatches programme on 'how to buy a football club' then I would thoroughly recommend doing so - that will probably give you your answer to point 1. They were sold something very different to what they bought, they didn't realise how much it cost to run a football club. Why they haven't decided to sell is beyond me but they will see this season as a massive success if we stay up. They will think they are some sort of financial god's.

Their publicised plans were about reaching the Champions League by putting in £5m/transfer window for three seasons + a few loans and a few kids. I don't see any way that they intended substantial "investment". That's what they said at the time and that's what they've done. The older, established, more experienced, better paid players have been pushed out of the club. That's the plan that JA sold them, and as we can see, there's no way that will work in the PL. Don't expect the Raos to change either.

They would have spent big on a 'special' player. Someone who would raise the profile of the club and therefore raise the profile of Venky's. Players such as Ronaldinho, Beckham and Raul.

I don't believe they would. What they say and what they do doesn't always tally.

Don't know why some people sound surprised when they discuss the role of agents since/before our takeover - a pretty clear pattern emerges relating to their involvement.

There was no real plan, no understanding of how a football club should be run, and importantly no detailed understanding of the finances involved (eg. operating costs).

The Rao family said it themselves, the primary reason for 'acquiring a football club' was to further promote the Venkys brand in new markets. They had a relationship with the same agency who was looking for BRFC buyers - job done and that is where we are at today....

In terms of Jimmy's post, that sounds about right.

Normally I would agree with that sentiment of not trusting what Venky's say. But in this case, they were very serious in getting a big name because it would have helped promote the Venky's brand. Venky's are willing to put the money in if it benefits their brand, not otherwise.

Ah, but it's those nasty supporters' faults.

If they'd only just get off the back of poor Steve, who is quite clearly overachieving considering the horrible circumstances he's got to work with.

I mean, forget about that fact that he appears to be a completely useless, spineless and incompetent lying turd, he's actually a rough diamond who is performing minor miracles by guiding us away from 'that boring' midtable place, to an exciting relegation scrap.

What a guy.

We should all give him a break.

Actually, I'd love to give him a break, given half a chance...

Have you any evidence of that Rovers11. Did the Raos enter into serious negotiations with any of these big name signings?
