  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

II realise it's a little unfashionable to post anything even slightly pro kean on here but.... I feel Kean should be given till the end of november to turn things around. Plenty of time to recover if needed. In my opinion the protest will cause more harm than good at a time when we should be showing unity . Seems a lot on here are far too easily whipped into a frenzy as soon as blood can be smelt .Unlike this board the vast majority I speak to at games and in the pub at matches seem to think kean should have till a bit closer to Xmas and actually quite like what he is trying to to with our club. Shocking???

Retreats behind parapet

'on here', like it is some anti-Kean bear-pit and the non geeky fans are fully behind him. Well, I'm sorry, as a local, I come across Rovers fans all day, every day and if I have met a handful that want him to stay on as manager, I'd be suprised.

Wow - I believe the lunatics really have taken over and locked-down the asylum.

I don't believe a word the Venky's utter but, IMO, Venkat (if that's what he's called) must be incredibly stupid to come on TV and say those 'nice' words about Kean, if there are any plans to sack him soon.

However, I honestly don't think they will now.

If some didn't know it before, then surely the penny has dropped now - we are in the deepest of deep sh1t.

As for Kean - just when you think he can't be any more delusional, he's suddenly, seemingly, claiming credit for Phil Jones's startling rise to stardom. For Rao to describe Kean as 'nice' and put our results down to bad luck shows just, IMO, how naive and, simply, thick our owners are.

You can see this escalating against Venky's very quickly and we really need some of the sh1t that we are told is buried within Ewood and Brockhall to hit the fan.

After all the great publicity, trying to highlight our plight, generated by Glen and co this week, I've very rarely felt so depressed after that TV interview with muppet Rao.

I truly fear for our future.

venkys dont know their arse from the elbow, it feels like kean is running the club and theyre HIS employees. i will be on the march tommorow and venkys better be watching, if they dont do anything positive after the protest then i think we can all safely assume that they dont give a toss about us and that baldy is here to stay no matter what.

it really upsets me, i mean literally, when i hear these mongos, still giving their full support to an incompetent idiot, even when the fans are going to be in full voice on this march, feels like they dont give a damn about our opinions or wishes.

I seem to remember John Williams giving his full support to Paul Ince - and apparently being extremely upset at having to sack him.

Makes you think ? or maybe not as things seem to be so ingrained.

Very valid point DMTP,however as you say I'm afraid it's too late for any kind of meaningful debate around here.

was that last statement a dig at me?

Seemed to me it was an obsevation he made rather than directed at any one individual.

He was, but he knew it must be done for the good of the club.

Yes totally agree - but did he not give him is full support until he was left with no choice ?

I know everything that went on last season - but we are only four matches into a new season. But for better penalty taking we could be as high as tenth ! And yet our owners are pillared for supporting the manager. I am sure John Williams would have done exactly the same - he may have worded it differently - but his message of support would have been the same.

If Kean had only had 4 games, then it would be massively unfair to be calling for his head. And of course, JW would not even comprehend sacking him.

However, last season MUST come into it, JW ALWAYS put our PL status before any loyalty and he would be looking at Kean's record with the potantial relegation financial figures with horror.

The trouble is the Rao family, nice people that they are and successful business people when it comes to the chicken producing and marketing industry but who are so naive, innocent, hopeless and incompetent when it comes to owning and running an English Premier League football club. They wiil do what they decide. And there is nothing that we fans can do to stop it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If Kean were to be sacked, who in their right mind would want to come and work as a manager of an English football club for the naive Indian chicken farmers???????????????

All we can do is get behind our beloved team tomorrow and cheer them on for 90 odd minutes; no more; no less.

yes but david, how long before the venkys have no choice? are you willing to risk another 5,6,7 or even 10 games before its too late? if you have cancer, is it not better to get it treated straight away than leave it till its too late?

Personally I think they should look into replacing him - but only if they can get a decent replacement. I would also be tempted to offer him a coaching post under the new manager.

Also - next three matches :-

Arsenal - too late to get a replacement now

Newcastle - maybe a chance of a point - Kean got one at Fulham no reason not to at Newcastle.

Man City - flying at the moment - probably loss no matter who the manager is

That would be three matches - only the Newcastle match could be consider one that a new manager could make a potential difference. Though it would have to be a quick appointment.

I may be sensitive in this area at the moment - but I don't think comparing our situation to cancer is particularly in good taste.

However, last season MUST come into it, JW ALWAYS put our PL status before any loyalty and he would be looking at Kean's record with the potantial relegation financial figures with horror.

Possibly - but if you ask many Rovers fans to be honest - I am sure that many (because of how well we finished the season) were actually looking forward to the new season (possibly until all the transfer turmoil). We finished the season on a high - we gave funds to Kean to mould the team as he wanted it - and then we sack him after 4 matches ?

I know what roverandout means and agree and before you start I have and still deal with cancer (Leukaemia) and been lucky enough to have it treated early.

I think it is unfair to sack him after just 4 games, he might not be such a popular manager but he still kept us up last season with relegation threatening over a dozen clubs going into the last weeks of the season. We ended up with 43 pts which is usually enough to keep you certain of survival a few games before the season ends but the league was the tightest it's been in years. Give him 10 games and if we have less than 12 pts then sack him, get a proven man in to steady tbe ship. We have a decent squad and i still think we're better than at least another 6-7 teams this season.

Mattie - Whilst I fully respect your position, what makes you think that Venkys will get rid of Kean in November, if they are refusing to consider it at the moment?

Also, lets be honest, Rovers fans are quite apathetic at the best of times, who will go to the effort of organising any more coherent protests/marches?
