  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

Wonder if you will be so cocky if Rovers fail to get any off-side goals or own goals against the opposition in their next few games?

Let's be truthful here, without them yesterday we would have lost.

If you want to bring luck into it then you have to say it was very unlucky to miss two penalties against Everton.

Yes, like the weakness we had with a makeshift defence for the Wolves game.

Don't forget the crisis. Crisis at the Academy - not. Crisis at the Senior Training Centre - not. Crisis at Ewood - not. Hhmm.

The frig are you on about?

Sarcasm doesn't really work when written because nobody can tell anything by the tone of your font.

If you were being sarcastic then I have no idea why. I was stating that people before the game were stating we were in crisis. As soon as we win though, previous sentiments go out the window because it suits people.

You'll see I wrote the sentiment to enjoy the win on the game thread.

This is the sack Kean thread so yes it is relevant.

Actually this is the Steve Kean Thread, not the Sack Kean thread. Still Philipl, that seems to be more akin to your choice of how to read facts .....

Interesting read in the Sunday Times today, very complimentary towards Kean's decisions during the game. Mind you he was up against an amateur in Wenger and a team with no resources ha, ha.

funny how the pro-kean camp are out in force, doesnt change the last 9 months of absolute garbage and still doesnt change my stance about him, one win does not make a season.

Is there a pro-kean camp?

I thought we were all Rovers fans?

Even after the Arsenal game I'd give him the bullet

Eh? You mentioned weakness and crisis, not me.

I'm just sick of people posting about the club being in crisis when it is not. That is all.

Win a game and people's mindset changes? Fickle!

Mine hasn't changed , he still tried to blame fans for spiking his drink and he's still a liar ! Don't forgive that that easy even he wins the next ten in a row! Yes I will back the rovers but not venkys puppet .

Don't like him, don't think he represent Rovers and don't think he is good enough.

However, he has to be given credit for the win against Arsenal in what was a supremely entertaining game. Regardless of what we think, that win has earned him a lot of security and safety under the owners. Because of this, now is the time to get behind the team and hope that we can pick up some momentum. Maybe Kean will gain some confidence and maybe he is learning. Hopefully the players will continue to gel together too.

I think we are stuck with Kean for the foreseeable future now, so we have to accept this and support our team like we did yesterday.

His past record can't be forgotten, but like it or not, the Arsenal game has given him another chance.

P.S. to all those that are saying we were lucky to beat Arsenal, when was the last time we beat a side that finished in the top 4 the season before without some luck? Credit where it's due, it was a great result under pressure.

Fickle is spot on. one scratchy win doesn't change anything. the bottom line is that he's bought some more time. if yesterday leads to a good run then i will review my stance

Steve Kean will be in the Sky Sports News studio from 7.30pm today, they want fans to e-mail them questions.

Putting you on the spot somewhat Kamy, but has your own view on Kean changed any since your meeting with him and following yesterdays win?

How about this one stat boys? (especially you Philipl, just to counter the outrageous Hodgson stat on this topic)

4 points from 2 games since Steve Kean has been able to put out HIS team, i.e. since the end of the transfer window.

Let's extrapolate...

That rate would see us amassing a further 66 points by the end of the season, finishing on 70 shiny points

Stats and spin belong together.

Very well, the only real stat that ultimately matters is the league table. Not his results last year, nor his results since the transfer window.

We are on 4 points from 5 games, with 3 of those games being at home. If he can improve our points ratio to being quite a bit ahead of the number of games played, indicating a mid-table finish, then Kean will really start to change opinions.

As a person, yes have more respect for him. As a manager he will be judged on results, up until now they have not been good enough but now with the victory against Arsenal he has the opportunity to build on that. If he gets more results in the next 5 games then he will get fans onside, if he doesn't then we will be back to square one.

He is not getting sacked in foreseeable future, owners are delighted with win and see that result as justification of their faith in him.

I changed from sack now to give more time. Doesn't mean I really believe in or like the man, but to sack him after a win against Arsenal where it certainly seemed like the players still have faith in him and eachother isn't what I want. This was just one game though; maybe we keep playing like this (And despite looking dodgy defensively at times, Arsenal still have far better attacking players than most teams we'll face) and get results. Or maybe the next 2-3 games show that it was just a blip and we go back to being poor, in which case he needs to go.

Yesterday was a great result and Kean's passion was commendable, He must have felt under all sorts of pressure with the Protest, media coverage ect. This has been brought on by results, If he had been any other manager at any other club, i'm pretty sure the feeling amongst some fans would of been the same.

I still don't here Steve Kean's Blue and White Army on Ewood which to me is a better indication of fans opinion as its a song we have always sung about all our managers. My opinion has not changed, and I would be thrilled to have it changed if he can produce a chain of results, Which gives me something to look forward to.I have never liked protest and to be part of one, must have put me in a state of mind of pure desperation. Football has always been pretty much part of my life, My spare cash and time goes on it, as I spend hours every week talking about football, before spending plenty each weekend by seeing my team play.

This week I have alienated the very people I love, and respect, which is my wife and children because Blackburn Rovers and organising a protest March has taken all my free time. My youngest daughter of three , who has just turned two has being crying for my attention all week to clour with her, or play in her tent, or just spend a little time with her.

My wife who I married in May this year, Has spent each evening on her own, and had to go to bed alone, only to awake the following morning to me still being up, and getting ready to go to work.

I thought I was a decent person because family values have always been what I have based my life and goals on, but this week I have seriously let them down because I feel my football club has let me down and I wanted to tell them so.

Why I have taken football so seriously over my family is unforgivable, and i'm ashamed today that my families life has been turned upside down, because of football.

If the club cared about its fans as much as we cared about the club, then I would never have had to result to drastic measure's.

I'm pleased we won yesterday, but still have serious concerns, I can't help the way I feel, but its what it is

Like the Fulham game, did not think we would lose yesterday - always give credit for a good result and have done so for yesterdays one.

Hopefully we can continue to pick up points over the next few matches - the jury is still very much out on the manager. Simply put, if he starts winning more matches then I think most fans will be happy enough.

One of the worrying things for me is that it has taken injuries to players, such as Salgado yesterday, to get some much needed changes made. I still think he should go even though I am delighted with the win. The first half was shocking and it is that display that worries me. I really do hope he proves me wrong and we get more displays like parts of the second half. I hope he is finally learning.

HIS team was the one that started the game yesterday and would of got utterly stuffed... tactics wise we should of started with the team we had in the second half when Rochina went off and we finally had the cover on the left, surely even you have to admit that we needed to support the fullbacks especially against a team like Arsenal? We rode our luck in the first half but we really have to get our tactics right from the first minute.

Don't know if you noticed, but it was HIS team that finished the game too.

Having to change tactics and personnel during a game does not make Mourinho a bad manager, he is renowned for it. So why when Kean tweaks is it seen as a weakness?

Glen you said the same thing at the end of the window too.

You did a great job with the protest, just stop putting pressure on yourself and chill out now.

At the end of the day football about enjoyment, what was done had to be done, and maybe if Kean does mess up in the future this protest will be on Venkys mind.

But for now just go back to being a normal fan, job done.
