jim mk2 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Yesterday's result changes nothing with regards to Steve Kean's management - in fact, the lucky nature of the win only served to highlight his tactical shortcomings. Rovers were a mess in defence and we could not have complained if we had shipped 6 or 7 goals. Kean still shows no sign of being able to set up a team properly, and over the course of a season we are likely to be on the end of some right pastings in a long and difficult struggle for survival. Three or four wins on the bounce might change my opinion but win or not on yesterday's evidence he still ought to be shown the door.

Backroom Tom Posted September 18, 2011 Backroom Posted September 18, 2011 I have voted give him more time. Does one game change anything? No I still don't personally think he is up to the job BUT you simply can't sack a manager straight after beating Arsenal at home. Thinking about it simply not voting may be more accurate

AllRoverAsia Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Attendances at home to Arsenal for past 3 seasons (most recent first) are 22,637 25,059 and 26,138. Are Rovers fans voting with their feet or Arsenal bringing less?
Mattyblue Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Attendances at home to Arsenal for past 3 seasons (most recent first) are 22,637 25,059 and 26,138. Are Rovers fans voting with their feet or Arsenal bringing less? Arsenal brought slightly less. We are without doubt 3000 fans down on last season- correlates exactly with the ST holders we have lost.
perthblue02 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 If and highly doubtful that Kean gave the answers to the following questions would it slightly change people's opinions of him 1) What was his part in the SEM/ Kenatro aided Venky's takeover ? 2) What was his part in the sacking of Sam Allardyce? 3) Where is the "biggest transfer budget the club has ever seen"? 4) Does he feel that there was any conflict of interest in his own Agent bringing players into the club and charging increased agent fees? 5) and finally he made apology to Rovers supporters who he insinuated spiked his drink and before any body thinks that this is an attack on his personality and not about his management, he orchestrated / accepted a position at a Football club who play in one of the most high profile leagues in the world, with that comes a responsibility that his actions reflect on the club and its supporters.
chris Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 If and highly doubtful that Kean gave the answers to the following questions would it slightly change people's opinions of him 1) What was his part in the SEM/ Kenatro aided Venky's takeover ? No involvement, next 2) What was his part in the sacking of Sam Allardyce? No involvement, next 3) Where is the "biggest transfer budget the club has ever seen"? Good question Kamy almost asked this but it was worded so that Kean didn't know he was suggesting most fans were wondering why 26 million pounds worth of talent departed and 17 came in. 4) Does he feel that there was any conflict of interest in his own Agent bringing players into the club and charging increased agent fees? No and agent fees have always existed, they were not increased 5) and finally he made apology to Rovers supporters who he insinuated spiked his drink I never said a Rovers fan spiked my drink I said I was entertaining fans when my drink may have been spiked, I have no further comment.
perthblue02 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Funny enough Chris that would be the answers I would expect, but would be nice to actually have Kean on record answering them for future reference as for the drink drive question that's why the word insinuation was used rather than said.
Grabbi Graeme Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Kean on SSN soon, lets see what he has to say, I would think it will be owners/players back me, only minority of fans are against me etc
Mercer Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Attendances at home to Arsenal for past 3 seasons (most recent first) are 22,637 25,059 and 26,138. Are Rovers fans voting with their feet or Arsenal bringing less? Look at the 3 matches @ home so far (Wolves, Everton & Arsenal). Facts - each attendance this season has been down on last season. Over the 3 matches, we've lost a total of 6,200 fans which is almost 10%. Frightening.
John Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Kean will be in the Sky Studio shortly, going on pr offensive perhaps. He is looking mega dapper.
1864roverite Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 You have to give credit where its due. I am no fan of his but he did well yesterday. Everything came off for him yesterday so good for him.
rovers_rob Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Despite all the protests and negative publicity from the press and fans etc.. one thing is for sure and that is the players are behind Kean. I Keep expecting an Ince Wigan performance but it hasn't happened and I don't think it will. Despite the bad defending it was good to see the players fighting for everything and if they carry on doing that I think we will be ok this season. I have been on a downer all week but if yesterdays performance doesn't give fans a lift then I don't know what will. Yes there was some poor defending and Arsenal made us look poor at times but you could see the fight and determination in the team. Olssons run summed it for me. He ran from one end to the other and never gave up and from that we scored. I don't think it was lucky it was fully deserved. This weekend we saw passion and commitment from everyone, fans, players, owners and even the manager. Lets keep it up !
John Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 "@CharLouJackson: Just met Steve Kean in make up at SKY- very nice man!"
SAS Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Didn't realise Kamy was one of the organisers of the march?
imy9 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Come on Glen Kean says he is willing to meet, sort it out! Fair play to Kean for saying it.
Mattyblue Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 So, we spend ten million less than we bring in and the owners have deep pockets? Hmmm, one way of looking at it...
glen9mullan Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Come on Glen Kean says he is willing to meet, sort it out! Fair play to Kean for saying it. Credit to Kean, I will set up the meeting
Mattyblue Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Right, I'm all for ambition, but can anybody explain how it is remotely possible for us to be competing for CL in a 'few years' with our budget? Come off it man!
imy9 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Right, I'm all for ambition, but can anybody explain how it is remotely possible for us to be competing for CL in a 'few years' with our budget? Come off it man! He said he wants European football in four years, I assume thats Europa League lol.
Andy Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I hope the question is asked as to how & why he got the job, going from a virtually anonymous coach with no managerial experience to managing a top-10 Premiership club.
rovers_rob Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Credit to Kean, I will set up the meeting I'm not being funny Glen but what will this achieve ? Kamy has already done an interview with Kean and asked the questions we all wanted to hear I really don't know what else needs to be said. You have said time and time again that this is a results business. Is it not time to see what results he gets and judge him on that instead of what he says ? By the way can I add that I think you have done well this week and you came across really well in all interviews.
