  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

Just viewed the poll.

How revealing that 1 freak result can make such a difference. Exactly why I've stated frequently that our form of democracy with it's increasingly showbizzy electoral system has run it's course. A nation of individuals with goldfish memories weaned on phoning in to Big Brother and X factor obviously can no longer be trusted to formulate any sort of considered and valued opinion.

It's probably the same fans who say about a player "give him time".

Sometimes it's possible to see from the outset that a player doesn't have what it takes - ala Andrews, Villanueva etc, etc. Some could see it, some said "give 'em more time FFS".

Some interesting stats as Steve Kean always points to them:

During Steve Kean's 31 league and cup games as Rovers "manager" we have only kept 5 clean sheets.... Only two of those have resulted in league wins....... the other a win in the FA Cup and two 0-0 league draws................ 31 games and 52 goals conceded

Its ok playing attacking football and trying to score goals aplenty, but ultimately clean sheets go a long way in ensuring your Premiership safety

Can't hold on to a lead can we? We did on Saturday but God knows how!

Article regarding "Leicester City were not sufficiently impressed to turn a loan into a move."

Really??? 11 goals in 20 games, maybe they would have been more impressed if he had score 20 goals in 20 games.

"People look at Yakubu and say he's a bit overweight, and that he doesn't run around the pitch too much," Kean said. "And that's true, basically. But he's a very experienced player and he knows how to get goals."

I thought it was muscle then lol so it is a little tubby and Kean ok with this I take it.

Nice little message to David Moyles regarding Yakubu and Saha: "They may not score as many goals as you would like, but they won't score any at all from the bench or the car park."

Something I have said for while now, on Rochina and also other “flair players” in the side (with this new attacking philosophy) – comments below from Kean on Rochina.

"He still must learn that because it does not matter where you are playing, if you lose the ball in the wrong areas then you are putting your team in danger”

Good to see Kean is learning :-)

Thanks. I managed to catch the last 15 mins.

I wonder if it was advertised as being on earlier in the day? is this the sort of thing that the FF would be told about?

Apparently he was on for an hour answering live phonecalls emails etc.

Maybe a recording of the full interview is available somewhere.

Living in Bangkok is out of the loop for this sort of info if its short notice but surely Rovers fans in Blackburn were aware of it.

One reply I would pick him up on if I could was the time line between Ms Desai and others calming, he is a his a good thinker and works long hours + others statements when they, if Keans replies are accurate had only met him a few days after Sam was sacked after the next visit he was virtual nailed on as our manager, how did they reach those conclusions after one or possible two visits.

I'm pretty sure they didn't visit Ewood during the initial change over, so how, or who was feeding them info, we all know, or at least we suspect JA.

The other was that SEM/Kentaro had no inference in the last window, many sources have stated allegedly they were involved until early July.

Not sure if you can access outside the UK but most programs can be replayed here

You can't take away the polls and our right to have an opinion and vote, my Granddad didn't fight in WWII and kill 13 Germans for nothing, althought he killed the Germans in 1957, so really it was just a multiple murder, but they should have never called him a chicken, they'd still be alive today

My point is we have a right to polls.

Just an observation on here. Why are there so many polls? Every week we seem to get a different poll. All polls do is polarise opinion and support.

Hmmm, on the protest march thread you think we should support the manager whatever he's like - So am I surprised that you aren't happy with the Steve Kean poll?

No.

The last interview Kean gave on radio lancashire was fairly tame but I thought this one was a lot better because I thought Gary Hickson asked Kean directly the questions that have been asked over the months regarding how he got the job and the SEM/Kentaro link.

It wasn't a censored Kean love in either with the fans that were ringing in. I thought he was given a hard time with some of the questions that were asked (which is fair enough).

To be fair to Steve Kean I thought he answered all the questions well that were thrown at him.

What interested me more was the questions about his tactics.

He openly admitted that he rushed the change of tactics at the beginning of his reign and in hindsight he should have introduced the style of play a lot slower. He is also well aware that his full backs need more protection from the likes of Hoilett and Rochina which was good to hear.

I don't think he has done himself any harm over the last week with what he has said, I know he has irritated a few people with some of the comments but over all I am quite pleased with what I have heard.

I just want to see all the talk transferred to the pitch and see us move up the table because despite everything that has happened and what has been said I will judge him on one thing and that is results.

Oh by the way, any other clubs that are interested in buying Rochina he has a 25 million release clause in his contract !

what a brilliant question:

"You say you have a healthy budget but you spent less then you sold, fans felt mislead"

Kean was totally stunned, couldn't answer it, first time he seemed totally floored.

Exactly the question that needed to be asked.

Whoever that old man was well done, it really was a question that needed asking and great point.

Should have been made in BFRCS interview.

Thank you old man.

Overall great interview, Kean came off VERY WELL I thought, some really tough questions.

Interesting - confused as to why that question would have floored him though. Surely he knew it was coming, it's one of the obvious ones. Just because nobody's had the guts to put it to him in an official interview or press conference doesn't mean he'd not know it was being asked by people, surely?

Same thought, in the end he said "I'm not the right person to ask"

But the caller said there is no one else to ask?

And why would Kean not ask this question anyway.

The caller was expecting sales reinvested plus 10 million not spend less then sales.

Just listening to the Radio Lancashire podcast My link around 11.30 minutes " I've never made any excuses when we have lost " Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha, then the stuff about the Sam's sacking. A leopard never changes his spots

The transfer budget questions and his responses are very telling , stuttering " to be totally honest" twice in the space of two minutes tells a different story

Seems to have had PR coaching lessons over the last couple of weeks as he doesn't seem as positive and forceful (arrogant) as previously.

Still along way to go , win games, stop lying and apologise for the DD

I've now listened to the Radio Lancashire interview from last night and have changed my vote to give more time.

I was on the protest march not just because of results but also because of my concerns over his public pronouncements, how he got the job, relationship with Venky's etc.

During the interview he answered all my concerns to my satisfaction. He also finally admitted some mistakes with tactics and changing the style of play too quickly.

Unless I see proof that he has not been truthful in the interview then I will take him at his word and am prepared to judge him purely on results this season.

We are not out of the woods yet with 4 points from 5 games and some tough games coming up but I will judge him after another 5-10 games.

I still believe the protest was valid and useful because I don't think this interview and these answers would have been forthcoming without it. Its just a shame that he did not answer the fans concerns earlier.

We just need a similar interview with Venky's now............

Why do people give such a toss about interviews?

From Sam's "expert" interview which was repeated by various numpties on here every day until his dismissal, to people getting optimistic about Kean because he gave a good presser, to everyone hanging on his every word and changing opinions based on his interviews.

All that matters are actions and results, not words.
