  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

Anybody remember this?

16 games in and after an appalling tenure, 22% wanted Ince to stay on as manager.

Posters saying 'he needs time to build his own side', 'get behnid him' etc.

Do you think any of those posters think it was a wrong decision now? Or after Sam's first game against Stoke?

There will always some who say 'give him more time', 'maybe after the next run of games, maybe after Xmas, maybe after the window' and so on and so on.

Sometimes appointments don't work out and you have to cut your losses.

A lot of the names arguing for Ince staying also supported Sam's removal and have been very much pro-Kean, at least until recently.

Go figure.

i think the poll is clear cut enough now to show that most people want him out, 95% is a very substantial number and hopefully it will make the 100% mark after saturday's mauling, can we send this to pune?

No, the trick is to look at how many people voted yes and then use it as a proportion of the Ewood attendance. So according to the poll only 2% want him out.

It's still double on the Arsenal game!

I live a couple of stones throws from the ground and work locally with a fair amount of Rovers fans - not a single person I know wants to give Kean a second longer as Rovers manager.

I can only assume apathy rules at Ewood Park, irrespective of how they feel against Kean.

It's like Groundhog Day and deja vu all rolled in together. All over again.

Not quite Bryan. I scanned the first few pages. It's different this time round.

There's a post in there from MCMCX1875 that states that Stanners, Root, Coar et al should get their act together and advise Williams. This time? Well, they aren't there and neither is Williams. Now we have Venny, Hunt and some other people and a load of plane trips to Pune every time a decision needs to be made.

We have the Pune9 and some staff being flown to Pune. I have every confidence that they will do us proud. Pacify, calm, flannel, buy some more time, buy some more players who aren't quite good enough (just yet) but they just need time. Trust me. Honest. Pay over the odds in Agents fees again maybe? Why would that be?

Just one more window. Just a bit more time.

There's no one involved anymore who I trust. No one acting in the best interests of the Football Club. And you know the sad thing? As I've mentioned before, I know some of the guys going to Pune, they may come back and say that the Venkys intentions are honourable. However actions speak louder than words, we are a rudderless ship at the moment, utterly clueless and bereft of any experience in all areas of the club (excluding some of the players *Having re-read this bit I should point out that there are undoubtedly many many people doing a mighty fine job at Ewood and Brockhall - behind the scenes - hopefully you know where I was coming from here).

Kean should go (yawn) but unless Venkys get a grip and put a proper structure in place, where the manager manages from Ewood, can form his own management team, sign the players he wants (yeah course you watched them 2 or 3 times Steve), then the whole thing is a sham.

Apart from the highlights (or lowlights!) I didn't see the Newcastle game Chris but I am very worried by all the accounts that we were very very poor. If anything it should have been the complete opposite after the win against Arsenal. I think the Rovers players (maybe fed by Kean's bullshit) generally don't seem to turn up against teams that they may be considered capable of getting a result against (eg Birmingham/Blackpool last season). There's a laziness to them which I think comes from the fact the senior players have had no threat to their positions in the starting eleven for several years. But when the pressure's on (last 4 games of last season, 2nd half of Arsenal game this season) they seem to come out fighting.

But anyway if we get beaten by 3+ goals against City and its another poor performance then yes my theory of giving him 4 more games would be severely tested!

You are setting up false parameters which are simply meant to back up your own arguments. It is utterly ridiculous to use the Man City game as a yard-stick as to whether Kean keeps his job or not. On the basis of what they've spent they should be one of the best teams in the world.

If Sam were still managing I wouldn't be confident about avoiding defeat and, given some of City's forward play this season, a heavy one.

The reality is Kean shouldn't be managing the team against City! He should have gone long ago, on the basis of all the faults we've seen in him and, above all, on the basis of a long sequence of appalling results and performances.

The players do seem unfit and unmotivated at times and I blame the manager.

No I picked 7 games because he has not proved to me that given his previous managerial experience that he deserves more, your opinion it that he should of been given how many games this season?? You will pick a figure out the air, same as me. It is a matter of opinion, we differ on it..

I've picked a figure out of the air-----its none.

Keans record speaks for itself. You can look at the games this season and make excuses for why we lost. My problem is that we aren't learning from our mistakes. Against Fulham GIvet was torn apart, same again against Arsenal and Newcastle. The goals we concede are often down to Keans tactics. Reminds me of TOny Mowbray at WBA. We look Ok going forward but do not defending right. We also concede more goals from set pieces now and score less than under Sam.

If we get hammered off city, Kean will go.

I'm not buying the fact that nearly 500 people who have voted are not a decent selection of Rovers fans. I will guarantee there are fans on here of all age ranges, both sexes and many cultures. He can crow about the 1% and that to me is the biggest face-palm. I was one of the 1%, l'm also one of the 95% on here and more telling, l'm also one of the 100% of Rovers supporters who wants the best for my town club.

I, like most of us, were here long before Kean showed his face, the difference is, we pay our hard earned cash to watch this clown insult us. I for one have had enough.

As the City game is not one of my Darwen End games, l'll be going to watch Saint's v Wigan on Sat cos l refuse to give Venky's another penny whilst they blindly follow someone who openly insults the fans.

EDIT: l tried to voice my concern in the only way l felt it would be heard and the ignorant scroat dismissed me as the minority.

Agree and I'll be another DE season ticket holder not at Ewood on Saturday, nor will my two sons.

Tony Gales mic and yoda - you're actually not even reading matty1875's points and letting your own opinions get in the way of respecting his point of view!

Forget last season its over with, the facts are that Venkys have kept him in charge, gave him a full pre-season, gave him money to spend in the transfer window and create his own team so to sack him after 4 games of all this (or 2 games after the transfer window shut) which you all wanted to, would be absolutely ridiculous.

We won against Arsenal wih a DESERVED victory as we blitzed Arsenal at the start of the second half and put 3 goals past them before they even realised what was happening! We won because we scored more goals than them which is all that matters!

Yes he inherited a squad which had shown midtable form but only because we had a manager in Big Sam that killed the life out of every game we played in with his play the percentages style in order to get results. Also a manager who effectively threw games against the big teams so the team was fresh for the games we had a chance of winning. We hardly had a top 10 squad in terms of playing talent and money spent.

Yes Keans overall record is relegation form and yes he shouldnt have been given the managers job in the first place, we should have sacked Sam and got a big name experienced manager in to replace him but Venkys didn't do this so there's no point looking to the past. We are 6 games into a season with Steve Kean as manager and there's no getting around this fact.

As I've stated previously 6 games is not enough to judge a manager IN ONE SEASON and I believe Kean should get the next 4 games in charge to save his job. The City and Spurs games are unlikely to be won but will show a great deal about the character of the team. The away games at QPR and Norwich we'll need at least 4 points from to prove we can stay in this league. Venkys should be drawing up a list of potential replacements as we speak and Kean should be sacked if the results and performances in these 4 games continue to be below the required level.

So you want to give him four more games, but you're saying we're unlikely to get a win out of two of them and are expecting us to get four points from the QPR and Norwich games, away from home.

Why not just say sack him because after those four games we will need some kind of Lazarus style resurrection of form to stay in the league. Even if we do get four points in the next four games, you're expecting us to stay up on that form? Where do the other points come from?

Managers to replace Ince:

Grant - would love it but wont happen in a million years.

Shearer - cant afford another one like ince, but wouldent surprise me.

Curbs - More realistic, good option.

Fat Sam - still no thanks.

Mancini - JW wouldent have the bottle to go for someone like that.

Tugay - player manager? - would love it, but not sure it would be the right option.

Boothroyd - no i dnt think he be good enough either.

Ramos - YES, one of the best options, just give him the money and ley him deciede the team, unlike spuds did.

Vialli - nope

King Kenny - that would be a story and a half, but nope

Tony Parkes - again would be a great story but no again.

Have to love the Grant comment.

While I wouldn't particularly want to see Grant here, I don't think he's as bad as people make out. He did a good job at Chelsea and was a John Terry missed spot kick from winning the Champions League and then had to deal with all sorts of stuff at Portsmouth who were always going to be relegated that season, but didn't do that badly and got to a cup final.

West Ham was a bit of a disaster mind.

At least he's a manager of some description, unlike the current idiot.

Tony Gale's Mic you are sounding very like a bitter and angry man, has something happened earlier in life to make you this way?

I'm bitter and angry. It's on account of having Steve Kean as the manager of the Rovers.

In that case lets hire Avram Grant next. He's unbeaten this season.

He'd be an improvement on Kean.

Would you take a defeat against them if it meant Kean got the sack? I don't think I could - what a nightmare that game would be.

No. Given the ability to determine the outcome, I would take a win over sacking Kean.

Realistically, Kean winning is unlikely so I don't have my hopes up on either Rovers winning or Kean getting the sack. Does he have pictures of the owners in compromising situations? What bizarre excuse explains their blind support for him?

Brian Laws!

Poor, but better than Kean.

I would take Coleman over Kean any day of the week.

At least he is actually a manager.

Andy - you can see where Kean gets it from - Coleman is just all talk. If Coleman landed, Kean no doubt would be coach. A very big, no thank you.

They were such an unsuccessful partnership that Coleman is now generally out of work and Kean had to look for jobs as a basic coach he was so poor as an Assistant Manager.

Although this sounds like an anti-Kean jab, it's just pure fact.
