RoyRover Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Fantastic performance and result from Ireland today. I did not see this one coming at all. We've been abysmal for the last few matches and I thought we were going to get tanked. We got in the faces of the Aussies and stopped the likes of Copper and Genia dictating the play. Australia were rightfully overwhelming favourites for this game, but they couldn't match the physicality or intensity of Ireland. Australia were awful, but I put that totally down to the fact that Ireland didn't allow them to get into their stride and get any momentum. It's been hard to know how to react to such a big win, as we Irish are used to either going into games against the big boys believing we can get something from it and then get stuffed or ending losing in heroic failure and people patting you on the head and saying bad luck! So to actually finally win a big game like this, which could potentially lead to a quarter and semi final not against South Africa or the All Blacks, is huge. The only down side to the game was having to listen to that excuse of an 'anthem' before the game. The players looked embarrassed by it, with only a hand few even attempting to sing it. The less said about it the better.

Mc Love Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Agreed it was an unbelievable win and a great game of rugby too. Also agreed about the useless anthem!
Mc Love Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 England starting well against the Romanians. 8 nil presently. I bet we are all waiting for the France - NZ game at 9.30? Gonna be a sleep by the time it comes on, but should catch it later hopefully
Mc Love Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Great win for the English today. Ireland really need to do the business in the morning, even with a second string side. We need a BP victory at the very least
Mc Love Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Great first half from the Irish - certainly cheers me up after the loss yesterday
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Watched the second half today. It was like going to the dentist only not quite as enjoyable. I thought the object of the exercise was to SCORE TRIES ! Silly me ,it's still kick and clap after all. They needed a RL lad to show them where the try line is. Another thing, the bloody referees, does anyone actually know what's going on ? I'll never call footie refs ever again.
Batman. Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Very sad You would sooner support a nation in which some of your fellow Irishmen from the North died fighting against? Cretin.
Mattyblue Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Indeed it is Tyrone, you best tell the Celtic nations.
Mc Love Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Congrats to Wales - the best Welsh team we have ever played. Its going to be a cracking semi-final!
Clitherover Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Bloody frogs, I hate them! I hope Wales do them in the semi's and go on to win the tournament.
dave birch Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 The French and the Welsh have had their big game. I can't see anyone bar a Southern hemisphere team winning this. The saffers could crush the aussies, or the aussies could run rings around a big Saffer side. Robbie Deans would like to take on the all blacks, just to prove a point, but I can't see it happening. As long as the all blacks have their heads right, it's theirs for the taking.
broadsword Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 England looked like they spent the previosu evening on the razz.
dave birch Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Aus v RSA: Ouch and Phew. Bruising game full stop.

As long as the all blacks have their heads right, it's theirs for the taking. Agreed. The French have celebrated this win like they just won the World Cup (honestly I have never seen this sort of reaction from the general French public to a rugby match). Wales and France will give anyone in the final a decent game, but there's no way they can outplay New Zealand if the All Blacks are on form.
Rovermatt Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 My mother is Welsh so I'll be rooting for them. I can see them going through to be honest. The other semi should shift world's axis a few inches. On another note after arriving at Heathrow, Manu Tuilagi was asked to sum up England's performance at the Rugby World Cup. " World Cup?" he replied. "I thought we were on Mike Tindall's Stag."
Mattyblue Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 What a load of arrogant twonks that lot are. Ben Youngs at the airport did it for me 'yah yah, it's just bantaaaaar' Can u imagine if it had been footballers? 'disgrace, immoral, over paid, no pride in the shirt' and so on.
Eddie Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Yep. Have a friend in the squad, but even I have to admit that they have almost all made themselves look like absolute pillocks (although he's managed to keep himself quiet, but didn't play very well).
dave birch Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 Whilst I'm sure the France v Wales game will be passionate and hard fought, I'm really looking forward to the Wallabies v All Blacks game. There's been a lot of banter about Cooper (NZ born but now living in Aus) and him giving it to the kiwis. Injuries on both sides and a history of wins for either side in RWCs or tests at Eden park suggest that this will be a cracker. The downer for me is, that I'm going away with a heap of others for the weekend and not getting back til late sunday pm. Will we make it? We'll be asking our driver to pull out all of the stops to get back in time.
neekoy Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 The All Blacks are really starting to worry, semi finals against Australia don't go well....
