yoda Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Thought it might be time for a positive thread and my suggestion is we hire Hughes and his team again, you could even turn it into a positive if you like Glenn!

OZTHEMAN Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 After what the Venky's are supposed to have gone through with J.Anderson and Agents fees the ONLY way to prove to me that the Venky's have distanced themselves from Kentaro and Jerome is to get rid of his client, a convicted drink driver, Steve Kean who is factually the worst manager in BRFC premiership history..his next excuse is the players have not had time to play together.. and we will take positives from this game...BLAH BLAH BLAH.. Yes I would welcome back, like Chris Samba, M.Hughes, but would he come?
roversmum Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 It. is. not. going. to. happen. Hughes and the Tafia couldn't wait to get out last time they were here. They have much bigger fish in mind.
Mattyblue Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Exactly. Fulham are spending more than us year on year and he jumped ship there after just 12 months. He is very confident in his ability (a touch of arrogance, perhaps?) and he would see it as a big step backwards from where he thinks he should be.

The only glimmer of hope is 'Arry going back to Pompey. ...although that didn't end well either. I think we are just running out of options. Take Hughes out of the running and who will possibly follow Kean?
roversmum Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 That's the thing, Jisty. Things are bad enough at the moment table wise. My worry is that the chosen one, whoever that might be, could be even worse.

I think we are just running out of options. Take Hughes out of the running and who will possibly follow Kean? Martin O'Neil? But I suppose he's just a small Irish Sam. Still, beggars can't be choosers - he's a massive leap forward compared to the current "manager". Where's Rafa anyway? Could we not just offer him better terms on the last (pre)contract he "signed" to persuade him to come?

They have much bigger fish in mind. maybe the Spaniard or even the Blackpool manager?? Who knows but anybody other than this brain dead rubbish!! There are a lot of good managers out of work no matter how good they think they are there are not the amount of teams for them to try!!A good example is a guy who thought he should be managing Milan or Real Madrid
Stuart Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 That's the thing, Jisty. Things are bad enough at the moment table wise. My worry is that the chosen one, whoever that might be, could be even worse. I was about to post "I don't see how anyone could be worse" but this is Venkys we are talking about. Grim indeed if Kean is the best we can hope for! EDIT: a few month old but anyone catch your eye?

roversmum Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Exactly, Jisty. I don't for one minute think it would be intentional, but it's giving me nightmares at the moment...
Amo Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Martin O'Neil? But I suppose he's just a small Irish Sam. Could we not just offer him better terms on the last (pre)contract he "signed" to persuade him to come? Although O'Neil could be labelled another "long ball merchant", he doesn't play a percentage game, and at Villa he focused on incisive counter-attacking football combined with long ball. With the players we have now, he could easily put together a winning side.

There are a lot of good managers out of work no matter how good they think they are there are not the amount of teams for them to try!!A good example is a guy who thought he should be managing Milan or Real Madrid Why would you want Holloway? He refused to make his side defend even if it meant Blackpool getting relegated. Just look at our game at Bloomfield Rd. Blackpool equalized in the 90th minute and still managed to lose.

Just look at our game at Bloomfield Rd. Blackpool equalized in the 90th minute and still managed to lose. Rather NOT loose!! :!: BUT if we are to loose then better loosing in style than just giving up like this guys half interested team.. I want someone who can add a bit of bite to this lot.. Holloway had a one man team C.Adams the rest were average at best, we have quality defenders in C.S.. R.N.. S.D.. G.G.. and we have a better over all team than his old team..
Pedro Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Although O'Neil could be labelled another "long ball merchant", he doesn't play a percentage game, and at Villa he focused on incisive counter-attacking football combined with long ball. With the players we have now, he could easily put together a winning side. He also couldn't get along with Randy Lerner and his interfering in team affairs so it isn't a goer. I'm not a fan of Holloway because he has no idea of how to get a team to defend, Rafa isn't passionate and is a sulky excuse maker but I would welcome Hughes back with open arms...it just won't happen though.
glen9mullan Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Hughes would be a great appointment, and any job better than no job? I don't think he would dismiss it out of sight if the Venky's matched his ambitions, Alternatively I will put my wife forward. 1.She don't tell lies 2.She is a good multi tasker 3.She inspires those around her (especially me) 4.She is family orientated 5.She is not wasteful with money 6.Hard working and will put the hours in on the training ground, 7.She can use a telephone which will save on flights to pune. 8.She could pick a great 1-11 and is Samba's biggest fan. 9.She got plenty of miles left on the clock 10. and above all she loves the club just as much as me :-)

beerwins Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Hughes would be a great appointment, and any job better than no job? I don't think he would dismiss it out of sight if the Venky's matched his ambitions, After enjoying your post I decided to compare to my other half..............It did'nt end well. Alternatively I will put my wife forward. 1.She don't tell lies -1. what time did you come in? "oh not late" ! 2.She is a good multi tasker -1. why is my toast burnt? 3.She inspires those around her (especially me) evens,. I'll make my own toast. 4.She is family orientated -1. Where are the kids love ? "dunno" 5.She is not wasteful with money -1000. I gave you £200 pound just for bread and now we are overdrawn! 6.Hard working and will put the hours in on the training ground, +1. They asked me to do overtime (in a pub) who was I to refuse. 7.She can use a telephone which will save on flights to pune. -1. Not good on a phone ( I pity the people she answers the phone too) 8.She could pick a great 1-11 and is Samba's biggest fan. -1. She would struggle to find 1-11 on a clock 9.She got plenty of miles left on the clock +1. Aye she can go for a few yet 10. and above all she loves the club just as much as me :-) -1. Only one club in her mind and its the one where she pays weekly.
USABlue Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Mark Hughes, let's stop playing silly buggars now. I've heard of desperation but let's not get carried away. Yes he was great but I think he had lost his shine for the job long before he left. He just dumped Fulham and he will do the ssame to us (again) at the drop of a hat. First "big club" that comes off he'll be.
