AndyC Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 We need to play Olsson and Junior on the wings every match. We have felt for ages that Olsson is wasted at left back(as well as not good enough defensively) now we are putting him on the bench and Givet there! Agree. Ollsen is so dangerous out wide.

Balwer Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 that goal might calm some of the posters on here down a bit. Thrlled we are winning but let's not pretend the game is over or that we've dominated. Come on boys, five more minutes. We deserved some luck, let's hope it holds out.
slough_rover Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 Yakubu is class! Brilliant at holding up the ball when we need him to.
jimw1988 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 we are doing our best to throw it away anyway!
slough_rover Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 Vukenic gave a masterclass in slowing down and then ruining a break there.. Didn't do bad under pressure there.. Phew!!! Bottom burp time..
Balwer Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 If only we could put Vuckevic's ball skills into Petrovic's body.
slough_rover Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 Robinson you beauty. Yeaaaaaa
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Lucky win for Rovers. Dominated by Arsenal in the first half (they could have been 4 or 5 up) and apart from a decent finish by Yakubu we were by far the second best team. Second half Arsenal looked a different team, a complete shambles defensively which saw them score 2 own goals. Arsenal had more chances in the second half and it required some top quality saves by Robbo. Plus points from the result: It's a win- three points closer to survival. Yakubu looks like he can offer something this season. Robbo- brilliant performance, got us the three points more than anybody. Negative points: The win means Kean likely won't be going anywhere for a while. With a lot tougher games coming up it's going to be difficult to get enough points. Rovers now might leave it too late after this result. The sheep will be on later to proclaim Kean a genius but the truth is we were lucky today, the sort of luck (one off-side goal and two own goals)you don't get often.
Balwer Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Congrats to all involved. Let's enjoy the win and lay off the Kean/Venky's stuff till next week at least. Good in patches and poor in patches today, got a lot of luck but let's take it and kick on with the season.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 YES! I am so happy. Brilliant game, loved every second of it. Excellent 2nd half performance. 11th in the league now. I think Kean has every right to hold his head up high based on todays game whether we want him gone or not. Well done Rovers, well done Kean. Fully deserved the win.
Commondore Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 4-3 Comeback on? You'd like that, wouldn't you? It's a win- three points closer to survival. Yakubu looks like he can offer something this season. Robbo- brilliant performance, got us the three points more than anybody. Robbo gave the full tour of his goalkeeping skills, he's brave and can be quick as lightning on the line but never gets down well to save when shots come close to him. The first goal was a prime example, and he was rooted to the spot on Chamak's second header.
Alex Rover Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Lucky win for Rovers. Luck handed back to us after Everton.
Backroom DE. Posted September 17, 2011 Backroom Posted September 17, 2011 Wow, just wow. That's an unbelievable result. I've been one of Kean's biggest critics but I'm big enough to give credit where credit's due - excellent result. My opinion of him hasn't changed, on another day we would have lost that, but on another day we would have comfortably beaten Everton so... swings and roundabouts I suppose. Must have been a few heart attacks at Ewood judging by the BBC text, we never do it the easy way do we? The Yak - instant legend. This man really did look the real deal. Dann was superb, Samba solid. Olsson made a big difference when he came on - should be starting ahead of Formica IMO. Great result, but means Kean will be here for the foreseeable future. Might as well forget protests, etc. That game alone will have bought him until December at least. The two brothers looked VERY relieved at full time. Agree with RVR that we were lucky today... the result itself has shades of us beating Liverpool 3-1. A "big" team at a low ebb. Let's see if Kean can keep the momentum going.
BRFC1995 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 5 shots on target to arses 16 arse 58% posession great day, but we will get raped by city chelsea etc, Arsenal as bad as liverpool last year.
martmitch Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 wow that was tense, my hands are shaking like a ww2 war veteran great result, slightly fortunately I think is fair, double edged sword as theres no way mr pilkington will be out now, the players just bought him some more time
sam_rovers Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 (Please don't use that word again) YEAH!!!!! EcSTATIC
promoted2001 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Good win but lucky. A few looked like liabilities for us (Petrovic again) but Arsenal had more shambolic players. Great result.
jimw1988 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 How we won that game beggars belief! Delighted we did. Yak has to play instead of roberts. Did really well today in everything he did. Thank jesus h christ for robbo and dann. Saved us countless times. Ollson should be playing on left wing and in the team from the start. Great attacking by hoilett. He was lacking defensive play though. Rochina offers nothing in defensive play. Gave the ball away to many times. All in all we were incredibly lucky to win today. Kean still has to go!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Man of the Match was definitely Robbo today. He made some vital saves but the Yak's experience in front of goal and in the dying minutes is something we have missed. Man of the Match was definitely Robbo today. LeChuck Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Fully deserved the win. We really didn't! Brilliant result but we won't get lucky like that very often. 5 shots on target, 10 goal attempts. Arsenal doubled that, if you swap the goalkeepers today then we get hammered. Central midfield is going to kill us, we've got nobody in there with authority who can grab the game and protect the defence. Yakubu was excellent, just shows what difference a quality striker can make. Even though he was dead on his feet near the end, his experience was vital, he was the only one trying to hold the ball and win throw-ins and free-kicks to relieve the pressure. Jason Lowe is better than Salgado, and Vukcevic looks far more street wise than Formica/Rochina, so should be starting soon. Him, Hoilett and Olsson should form the attacking three behind Yakubu. Until central midfield is sorted though, we'll struggle. Great result, still massive concerns about the team though.
slough_rover Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 Lowe looked more solid than Salgado and I'm glad to see Nzonzi growing as the game went on. Samba and Dann are the best CB pairing we have had in so many years.
