chaddyrovers Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 ok that's 3 votes for chaddy to be next BRFC managerbut seriously chaddy do not mention Karl Robinson again maybe good at MK Dons but we have had enough rookie managers this next one has to be experienced e.g. Curbs,Sparky,Souey/Tugay etc.. as we are in trouble we need someone to come in who has a good reputation of organising a defence after the NUFC debacle. Firsty, I agree with you that Rovers need a experience manager in to replace Kean!!! I would be very happy if we could get Hughes back but I really doubt it will happen. Curbishley would be a good choice for rovers. Doing a great job at Charlton and a good job at WHU. Souness has said before that he is NOT interest anymore in Football management. O'Neill would want to spent millions of pounds on transfers. I really don't rate him as manager tbh. Benitez, I doubt he would come after he turn us down before. I think the best choice for rovers would be Curbishley. Whether he would come is unknown.
beastlove Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Curbishley had contractual issues with west ham and therefore was unable to get another job without forgoing a large payout. Would be a good choice
ABBEY Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 We should get the Turkish TUGAYWITH MON..CURBS ..COLEMAN ..OH I DONT KNOW BUT...ANYONYONE BUT BENKEAN
LeChuck Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 We should get the ex Turkish national manager fatih or faitm whatever he's called Well I'm sold, you certainly seem to know a lot about him.
USABlue Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Not kean on curbs meself. Anyone seen this. Ole Gunnar NM I just saw it mentioned a few pages back
john.leigh Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 If only Arsenal had battered us. In a perverse way us beating Arsenal should be just as bad for Kean. If Arsenal had smashed us it would have been too easy to just say "ah well we're cr@p anyhow" But the Arsenal win shows what the side can do - the type of results that we can achieve - but we're not doing AND we're not doing it on a regular basis. There's a lot of me that's Anti Kean, but also a part that acknowledges some of the positives he has brought us - we've made some very good solid signings & team spirit still seems remarkably good even after a poor run BUT ultimately Kean must be judged on his results, and with each week that passes things are going more and more wrong for him. At some stage this has all got to stop.

Lars-Erik Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Michael Laudrup is on the verge of getting the sack from Real Mallorca. Hasn't achieved the best results since he left Getafe, but coincidently John Jensen has worked as his number 2 for at least one spell. I'd take him anytime - Should at least help us attract top players!
Backroom trueblue Posted September 26, 2011 Backroom Posted September 26, 2011 Ancelotti(?) is looking to get back into premiership management (according to newspaper stories at the weekend).
Darwen Rover Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 How's about this as a suggestion... Samba as player manager... Can you imagine the half time talks if we are losing... Think the players would play out of fear if nothing else!!
PAFELL Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 How's about this as a suggestion... Samba as player manager... Can you imagine the half time talks if we are losing... Think the players would play out of fear if nothing else!! I have already suggested that to one or two on twitter. Others have said Roberts or Nelsen as well. All would be a risk. But not more risky than keeping Kean. I would be happy with Samba as player manager. But he would need a very good assistant manager with him. It is also the cheaper option for venkys. They would have to pay off Kean. Samba already being paid. Could even keep jensen as the assistant manager for awhile and see how that pans out. Samba as player manager would also ensure he stays at Rovers.
tony gale's mic Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Samba as player manager? Are you serious? We already have one non-manager in charge of our club, why on earth would we want to replace him with another? Samba would be a good motivator no doubt but there's absolutely no evidence he'd be much of a tactician. Besides he wouldnt have the badges. I'm all for Venky's listening to the fans more but if this is what some of the fans are saying then...

But we are in desperate times. I do not think venkys have the money to pay off kean and pay for somebody else to manage the club. So that leaves us with either keeping kean or having a player manager. What other option is there?

We haven't even explored our options yet. I'd prefer a manager from the lower divisions to having Samba in charge. Hopefully someone at the club will have a word in Venky's ear and tell them the financial cost of appointing who's not good enough again will be a lot more in the long run than appointing someone who has a bit of experience. Besides, he doesn't have his badges (I don't think) so it wouldn't be a goer.

Just for debates sake, what are the options available to Rovers. 1/ Keep Kean - doing so may result in relegation 2/ Sack Kean - compo to him (have venkys got the money to sack him) 3/ Bring in another manager either from the lower divisions or one with prem experience. - have venkys got the money to be able to pay for a replacement. 4/ Is there a fourth option ?????????? Many of us want Kean sacked. But if venkys do not have the money to pay Kean compo and then to pay for another manager / staff. A player manager route maybe the only one, as well as being the cheapest option, left. Not sure, but I think a player can take his badges and play at the sametime.
tony gale's mic Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I think Venky's can better afford a manager like Curbishley better than they can afford the cost of the club getting relegated. Besides, remember managers aren't on any more money than players are, so after paying off Steve Kean's compensation, finding an out of work manager (my choice would be Curbishley) should not cost any more than getting a free transfer in, granted theres the backroom staff too but their wages are significantly less than that of the players.
ABBEY Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 If the V's can't afford to sack the manager then what in nuggets name are they doing in football ?
Backroom Tom Posted September 27, 2011 Backroom Posted September 27, 2011 It may end up being Bruce you know with Sparky at Sunderland :s
slough_rover Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Michel Laudrup has stepped down as Mallorca's manager. Cant be any worst.
rog of the rovers Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Laudrup managed to keep a bankrupt Mallorca in La Liga. Although apparently left due to a break down with the club's board! His Mallorca (league) record is 14 wins, 8 draws and 21 losses in 43 games Win percentage - 33% Draw percentage - 18% Loss percentage - 49% Kean has a (league) record of 6 wins, 8 draws and 13 losses in 27 games Win percentage - 22% Draw percentage - 30% Loss percentage - 48%
Hughesy Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Samba at 26/27 as player manager?? Give over! There is always the old rovers connections we could try - Shearer/ Tugay/ Coleman/ Hendry/ Parkes But id prefer us to go for someone like Ancelotti or Benitez.....mega ambitious BUT either would cause the media attention that Venkys crave, would get instant respect from the players and would sort us out tactically. The squad itself isnt that bad and certainly not bottom 3 material, so something else must be wrong!

My advice them would be to them: Fly to India without anyone knowing bypass higher management Tell Venkys that you work late, after hours Tell Venkys you will play beautiful football and can get references (i.e. Kean used Andy Cole and Karl-Heinz Riedle). Accept a basic salary of 400k or less Tell Venkys that you can easily buy forniegn players for 2 million each, who can quickly match any premier league opposition. However, Buy all flair luxury players with the objective, we will score one more then you Football is about opinion so ALWAYS bend the truth in your favour.

We have to scrape any barrel just to replace Kean. Sad reflection on how the club has declined under the ownership of venky's.
