Martin O'Neill sounds too good to be true. A manager who walks away from Villa due to lack of investment and selling off his top players, despite having spent a shed load...to then come to us who have sold off the best prospect we have had for many years.

I'd take almost any manager over Kean. Posters on here decrying the possibility of David O'Leary when we have Kean in charge! Come on, get a grip. Heck, let the players sort it out between them if need be. Anything. Just let's have a change!

I think O'Leary could be a decent shout, christ he'd be a far better bet than Kean!

Maybe he'll have something to prove having been out of the game for a while.

David O'Leary was sacked by Al-Ahli recently after a 5-1 loss to Al-Jazira according to Wikipedia. I'm no expert on the UAE football scene, but that does suggest he'd not be that much of an improvement on Kean. I think he's been out of top flight football for too long, and it would be like when Joe F. Kinnear became Newcastle manager.

So if Kean was to go, I'd expect Venky's to move him in quickly.

I'm not so sure Beastlove. I do think managers have a shelf life like players, and most reach a peak before the evolution of the game overtakes them. Howard Wilkinson won the league, but he'd be out of date 10-15 years ago let alone now. There are some who can adapt and continue to succeed over a very long time (e.g. Ferguson), but O'Leary might not be one of those. He would be better than Kean without doubt, but would he be good enough to get us out of this mess?

:rover: KEAN WILL STILL BE HERE NEXT WEEK,NO DECENT MANAGER WILL WORK FOR THE VENKYS,NEWS TRAVELS FAST IN THE FOOTBALL WORLD,WERE DOOMED :brfcsmilie:

Football is a mercenary business - offer the right salary /contract and you will get someone prepared to take the managers job, in the full knowledge that even if unsuccessfull they walk away with a nice little wedge.

Personally , I think we are doomed , Venkys name will have gone around football.....

Mark Hughes , would keep us up , not sure I could name another manager who would...

The chances of a Hughes return ???? Less than nil

Sam Allardyce??
