gumboots Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Will there be a club left when Kean leaves? If he goes this week or next, yes, just about. Much longer and no
Giant Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 What's the betting that Mr. Kean will complete the ex-Fulham triumvirate by getting Venky's to appoint Chris Coleman as Director of Football. Short odds, I'd say.

Short odds, I'd say. There's another thread on which Chris Coleman is shown as managing a Greek team; would we have to "prise him away" in the way Kean says we've prised the apparently unemployed Paul Clement away from Chelsea?
roverandout Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 does anyone know that rovers have never had a foreign manager in their history?
martonrover Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 does anyone know that rovers have never had a foreign manager in their history? That's funny, I thought Kean was from another planet
LDRover Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Laudrup on Sky's coverage of Barca so he's in England. Could be a goer assuming Baldy's a goner?
miqaayil Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Laudrup on Sky's coverage of Barca so he's in England. Could be a goer assuming Baldy's a goner? that will be a perfect appointment ... tdy i just saw a side wanting nothing more than a draw ....
koi Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 The more I think about it the more I think curbishley is the man for the job...never thought I'd actually say that! does anyone know that rovers have never had a foreign manager in their history? Wrong, by the way.
daverich Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I can't wait for Jean to get potted, just really dreading who venkys are gonna come up with nxt, hope they put their hands in their pockets but I can just see them going for another cheap option.
slough_rover Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 The more I think about it the more I think curbishley is the man for the job...never thought I'd actually say that! Wrong, by the way. Unless you include Irish as foreign he is right.
Doug Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I'd give Souness a call. See if he fancied a bit of a challenge. Played good footy when he was here, good spirit and players gave everything.
koi Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Unless you include Irish as foreign he is right. Technically they are and were at the time so pedantic as it may be he was a foreign manager.
roverandout Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 koi i looked at wikipedia at all rovers managers and none were 'foreign' unless u count ireland as foreign, which it isnt really.
Mattyblue Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 koi i looked at wikipedia at all rovers managers and none were 'foreign' unless u count ireland as foreign, which it isnt really. Ut oh! wait till the Irish lads read that!
martonrover Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I'd give Souness a call. See if he fancied a bit of a challenge. Played good footy when he was here, good spirit and players gave everything. Did a good job overall but he lost the plot towards the end. Personally I was glad when Newcastle took him. Why Laudrup? Great player but not a good manager. Got to try for Hughes or O' Neill then move on to the likes of Curbishley if necessary
miqaayil Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Why is laudrup a bad manager ..... he did well in bronby ... then gatefe ... then spartak ... then he saved mallorca from relegation om shoestring budget and resigned this season due to bad relation with the president ... the guy promotes youth ... his team plays free flowing football ... he's respected and has eye for youth hughes will drop us the moment a big club comes .... o niel ... venkys can't satisfy his budget ...
Steve Moss Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 I think Laudrup would be an excellent choice. So it's guaranteed Venkys won't go for him.
martonrover Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Why is laudrup a bad manager ..... he did well in bronby ... then gatefe ... then spartak ... then he saved mallorca from relegation om shoestring budget and resigned this season due to bad relation with the president ... the guy promotes youth ... his team plays free flowing football ... he's respected and has eye for youth hughes will drop us the moment a big club comes .... o niel ... venkys can't satisfy his budget ... Any manager who succeeds at Rovers will be poached by a bigger club at some stage. Point taken about Laudrup but I still think we need someone who can hit the ground running in the Prem League. I dont think it's impossible for us to get O'Neill. He wants to return to management and is not in a position to land a really big club.
miqaayil Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 if they had the brains ... they can go for johan cruyff ... something like a Kenny Daglish return .... but only he's the founder of total football style and the kind of influence and media coverage blackburn will get will be amazing ... not to mention the young players attracted to play under him .... frank rijkaard might drop saudi for a crack at EPL ... and van basten is out of job also ....
roverandout Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 these are names we can only dream of, we will probably end up with someone like dave jones.
miqaayil Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 these are names we can only dream of, we will probably end up with someone like dave jones. at the time when jack got kenny to come and manage us ... it was also a dream ....
Andy Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 these are names we can only dream of, we will probably end up with someone like dave jones. I dream of Dave Jones being Rovers manager right now.
