[Archived] BRFCS & The Protest

Given I've been fielding press requests and other people have been getting irate phone calls about BRFCS' perceived involvement with the planned protest I thought it was time I explained where we stand (and to make a plea to everyone attending).

Firstly, on this issue and almost any issue, BRFCS has remained neutral and will continue to remain so. We're dedicated to making this somewhere where ALL Rovers fans are welcome, regardless of their views, so any kind of agenda on our part would be detrimental to our aims. Many years ago we did consider supporting issues but decided that was best done via BRISA rather than the site, these days we encourage people to back the supporters trust instead. We're here to facilitate you guys getting across ALL viewpoints.

We have made no attempt to influence any of the moderators and contributors in any way as to whether they should or shouldn't attend, we value their contributions, but they don't work for us and a free to do how they wish, they can either back the protest or not, that's their own decision.

We do implore anyone attending to do so in a manner befitting true supporters. Myself and others will be present with cameras to cover the protest as a news story (which it undoubtedly is) and if anyone is seen behaving in a way we feel brings the site or the fans into disrepute, I'll personally have no hesitation to hand over the images to the club and/or police and name and shame where I can.

Glen took the time to call me to explain some of the things they've done to ensure people's safety and to ensure they are seen as "True Fans" and not tarnish the good name of the club as previous protests have. He's gone to great lengths to make sure that regardless age, sex, colour or creed, everyone is welcome and should be able to protest safely and professionally and he's been liaising with the police throughout (who I believe will be very much in attendance on the day, both uniformed and undercover). If one person lets the side down, it could ruin all the efforts of all that support it, don't let it be somebody from here.
