Blackburn_Ian
Rovers' co-owner Venkatesh Rao has been reported as saying on SkySportsMobile that manager Steve Kean's job is totally safe ahead of a planned fans protest, plus as reported on Granada TV 'Steve Kean will not be sacked as Blackburn Rovers manager.' That's come directly from the club's owners. In an exclusive interview, Venkatesh Rao told Granada Reports that Kean's job isn't under threat, despite Rovers sitting bottom of the Premier League with just one point. The Rao family will attend their first game of the season tomorrow at home to Arsenal Isn't this just another statement and stance from our owners that just shows their total lack of understanding and contempt for supporters, plus showing their inexperience of how to handle issues like we have at Ewood at the minute ? thenonda
I personally take that video with a pinch of salt he kept saying about results. He was not very convincing about saying his job was safe and to be honest we know who makes the decisions... Mrs D and she usually contradicts Venky every time he speaks in public. chris
If it's not a Bluff then we are in dire straights right thru the club! he asked what I hoped Kamy would ask, "how much longer can this go on getting bad results?" I guess he bypassed it, buthe was didn't answer it, it obvious, things HAVE to change and change fast. Arsenal MASSIVE game. I assume if kamy would have asked the question he would have not got an answer either. Who is going to say three more defeats he's out/i'm leaving. SIMON GARNERS 194
That interview, coupled with various comments only further confirm for me that these people do not know what they are doing and saying. Just more dismissive 'everthing is OK' diatribe.I must admit though 'owd Venkatash does look under pressure a tad!
Andy
Yeah, I guess - nobody wins if Venky's admit that he only has x amount of games to save his job. Frustrating though - the stubborn ignorance of the facts and results, which are horrendously poor under Kean. Why not come out, be open about the situation and maybe get fans onside instead of just carting out the same old 'be positive' BS?
Backroom DE. Posted September 16, 2011 Backroom Share Posted September 16, 2011 Venky's should just say nothing. Let Kean do the talking, something he's actually fairly good at. I don't think there's much point protesting against Venky's - they aren't selling and even if they were, who's buying? We're not exactly an attractive proposition, even less so since the idiots took over and ruined the club from the ground up. Venky's have a chance to get the fans onside by sacking Kean and hiring a real manager - but I'm starting to get a sinking feeling they aren't going to do it. Or if they do, it'll be too late and we'll already be sunk. I don't even want to think what it'll be like if we go down on Venky's watch. If they think people are angry now... arbitro
It looks like he has fallen under the Kean spell. Apart from the accent being different it could have been a Kean interview. No alarm, no panic, just unlucky, get behind us blah blah blah. I'm surprised he didn't quote how mant entries we have had into the oppositions penalty area this season. perthblue02
tbh I'm coming round to thinking that the backing of Kean by Venky's is them covering their own backs . I'm not in the know but something does not add up with the whole scenario, are they afraid Kean might spill the beans about something that will reflect badly on them if they sack him? There have been posts on this and other boards hinting at things to come to light over Kean's involvement being much deeper , nobody has posted any facts yet, but does make you wonder. Hopefully the latest backing was just the dreaded vote of confidence and by Saturday evening the club will be looking for a new manager and Venkys quickly finish reading their copy of Dummies guide of How to run a football club
Blue blood
Yes it should. But that's not going to happen. First step is getting rid of Kean, and hoping (and it's a slight hope) that Venkys seize the opportunity and appoint a quality manager and let him do the managing. If they continue to mess up I wonder how long it'll be before fans start getting vocal against Venkys. The more I think on the mess so far, the more patient I think we've been. Perhaps we're too good natured as rovers fans.
Amo
Protesting against the owners will do nothing in the short-term to save our season. We need a new manager if we're to have any hope of staying up.
John
I think we can still stay up under Kean but it will be a struggle.
Emge
Im just so angry and dissapointed about Venkys.... It really hurts!! :/ It feels like some kind of torture, they dont know what the hell they're doing, thats obvious, and we cant do anything about it! F***!!!! LeChuck
Venkys out where? Who comes in? The trust took years to find new owners. Makes no sense to have a 'Venkys out' protest.
Oklahoma
Honestly, what do expect Venky's to say? "We are firing Kean in two weeks?" or something like that. In those kind of decisions, even if you really have doubts and are inclined to firing somebody, you don't come out and say it. You keep your mouth shut, pretend all is well and that you support him 100% while, in reality, you have big doubts about him. It's like that everywhere. Until the final decision is taken, everyone supports the manager...
Backroom Tom Posted September 16, 2011 Backroom Share Posted September 16, 2011 No. For me a protest against the manager may be worthwhile, a protest against the owners not so much, they have a possibility of turning us around, Kean IMO doesn't. I think any owner would say similar in those circumstances, tomorrows game wont have much bearing either way unless we get embarassed which could shock the family into action. We have Arsenal, Newcastle and City in the next 3 games. Max of 3pts would put us on 4pts which is where Arsenal are now with 4pts. Impossible!! Spot on, Oklahoma, only wish to add this: I'm sorry to harp on about this, but culturally, this is their man, they are not going to sack him until it gets completely untenable and the maths works against us, then their business sense will kick in. At the moment, we have to back the players and hope this all works out in the end, the other consequence, I wouldn't wish on most clubs, especially our own! SIMON GARNERS 194
It's hard enough for any football club to survive when the manager is clearly not good enough, when the owners appear as clueless well, again,I ask the question....what chance do we have here? chris
It's very hard to dislike Venkys I truely believe they have been told a lot of lies and unrealistic promises from Steve Kean. When Kean is telling us this player is a young Batistuta, a Rooney a Gerrard, a Iwrin. WAT ON EARTH IS HE FEEDING VENKYS. Are they naive to believe Kean, 100% YES They have fallen for Kean thats for sure. It's a shame. I'm glad there are people like Glen to have the balls to put together a protest, but Kean is powerful.
