Hughesy
So who was your man of the match? The constant torment caused by Hoilett? Lowe on his first league start? Robbo who made several key saves? Yak who took 2 goals on his home debut? Or someone else?

RibbleValleyRover
Robinson. Made several keys saves in the first half when Arsenal could have gone 3 or 4 up. In the Second half when we were hanging on he made some top class saves as well.
Backroom Tom Posted September 17, 2011 Backroom Share Posted September 17, 2011 Yakubu for me, not just for his goals but his allround game was superb (ok its mainly for his first goal and the fact I love the feed the Yak saying)
beerwins
Yakubu, He is not the most dynamic striker but it is so nice to see a striker with instinct at Rovers. His first goal really was sublime, he did'nt even look where the goal or the keeper was his instinct took over, if Kean can motivate this guy he could be a 15 + goals striker a season, apart from his goals his slowing down of the game in the dying minutes show his experience too. roverandout
i think they all played well, for once but i would have to say robinson as well, as he made some superb saves and commanded his box well, was very fortunate not to concede a penalty at the end though. Backroom DE. Posted September 17, 2011 Backroom Share Posted September 17, 2011 Robbo, again, for me. Yak's goals were great, but without Robbo they wouldn't have counted for anything.
dubdubdub
Robbo, again, for me. Yak's goals were great, but without Robbo they wouldn't have counted for anything. Without the Yak Robbos saves wouldn't either. Not saying I voted for him. Went for N'Zonzi purely because i'm so impressed how far he's come. Was talking more about Robbo's saves after Yak had scored really, but technically yes, both deserve a lot of credit
Miker
A lot of good performances today, but ultimately has to go to the Yak for a fantastic debut.
steverovers
I voted for the yak. It's been too long since we've seen someone who actually knows where the goal is, and isn't afraid to put it there. Let's hope he can keep it up, and not fade away like he's done at other clubs.... American Rover12
Went with Yak, followed by Robbo and Lowe. Even when off the ball Yak seemed to be causing trouble until his fitness (or lack thereof) caught up to him late on. He played how most hope Jason Roberts will; strong back to goal, good passing outlet, decent touches and knows how to finish. Don't care the second was offside, he showed he can be the out and out striker we need. After the first goal which at first looked a howler from Robbo until I saw the deflection in the replay, he looked world class. Made saves in this game that could be candidates for saves of the year. Looked confident and strong, except for a little jenkyness at the end when his kicks went screwy. Speaking of kicks, good balls towards the box when he was taking the kicks behind the halfway line. After some skepticism from me initially, Lowe looked decent in his makeshift RB role. Only one glaring error when he let Arseshavin by but other then that, kept it locked up. Also, Dann gets an honorable mention.
Amo
Yakubu. Gave us the cutting edge up front that we've lacked for ages.
Andy
I've gone with Robbo, as some of his saves yesterday were fantastic and at vital points in the game. I think at least 50% of the time though, a penalty is given for the challenge on Walcott in injury time. Lowe was impressive considering his age, experience and being out of position. On the few previous occasions I have seen Jason, he has been poor and well below Premiership standard, so I'm really happy that he's had a good, solid game and if he can be a younger, cheaper version of Brett Emerton then bonus. Nzonzi did have a good game and delighted with Yak, the man is a goal machine and Roberts could learn a lot from him, but I'm sticking with Robbo for MoM. I don't agree with Lowe previous performances that I seen for the first team last season. Thought he was excellent against Cheslea and marked Lampard out of the game and he was quite good against QPR in FA cup. But I didn't see him for the reserves last season or pre season this season so maybe that is what you are talking about. Nzonzi played very good. Yakubu was excellent and a PL proven goalscorer. Robinson is a GREAT keeper and he made some great saves yesterday.
sweet
Robbo was absolutely world class yesterday, and reminded me of friedel in his pomp.
Backroom Tom Posted September 18, 2011 Backroom Share Posted September 18, 2011 Robbo made some great saves yesterday but his kicking put us under unnecessary pressure at the end IMO. He did save us a good few times having said that
Andy
Yeah, that's a good point - normally Robbo is pretty reliable with his kicking, but he had quite a few dodgy kicks yesterday. Doesn't take anything away from his saves though. I was already a Robbo fan, was before he came to Rovers and will be when he leaves, but he's been pretty fantastic on the whole for Rovers throughout his time here. Backroom DE. Posted September 18, 2011 Backroom Share Posted September 18, 2011 Agreed Andy, considering where Robbo was in terms of confidence when he first came to us, he's been absolutely fantastic and a worthy replacement for Brad (not quite as good, but then who could be?). The one and perhaps only positive of Ince's reign.
RyeOfTheRovers
Gone for The Yak, it was his debut and considering he hasn't played a top flight game in ages and still scored twice, that swung it for me.
bazza
I can see why folk have voted for Yak and Robbo, but I was so impressed by young Jason Lowe, especially in the second half, I've gone for him. He must start at right back in our next game, even though that is not his normal position.

Hughesy
Suprised a couple were impressed by NZonzi, thought he was at fault for a couple of the goals we conceded. Did ok, but nothing special in my opinion. Yak with 2 on his debut in his 1st game got my vote. His 1st goal was a touch of finishing class which we have not seen for a long time....He also worked hard and held the ball up, he then set up Olsson who then made the OG. cmb211087
Voted Robbo. Kept us in the game at the end with several magnificent saves. Also was never a penalty, watching on sky just now, the commentators said he ha his arms down and didn't touch Walcott.

Did ok, but nothing special in my opinion. I am amazed anyone voted for him - he just doesn't seem to have the awareness for defensive central midfield player. Still he is only young - technique etc on the whole is ok - may he will grow into the position.
Backroom DE. Posted September 18, 2011 Backroom Share Posted September 18, 2011 N'Zonzi was nowhere near MOM, but he didn't do badly. I was glad to see him moving forward and taking on people a few times, his passes weren't just sideways either, he made a few nice forward passes. I thought his performance was steady without being spectacular.
