roverwhelmed Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 It's a joke. Riding on a high, if only. I've never felt this despondent about Rovers.

Kamy100 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 RIDING HIGH?RIDING F HIGH ? AND STATEMENTS LIKE THIS ARE WHY I THINK THE VENKYS WONT BE HAPPY UNTIL WEVE GONE BUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STUPID OWNERS WHO DONT HAVE A CLUE OR ANY IDEA WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!!! I did say after the Arsenal game that they were delighted and for them that victory justified their faith in Steve Kean. This guys know very little about football, so to them Rovers beating a big five club is a big deal, I suspect that Kean can dine from that one result for a number of games.
promoted2001 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Maybe they just don't know about the games they don't attend!
Mattyblue Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Well for Venky's it was glorious. Their football club beats one of the big names of the sport and pictures of it (with the owners in the crowd, of course) are beamed around the world. Another glorious week for brand Venky's- AND THAT IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT.

Send THIS to Venky's / Venky's PR please Kamy! See how far Kean can dine out on that. The programme that Venky's presumably see on Match Days - does it have a doctored league table in it? Or is that page just ripped out?
Backroom Tom Posted September 26, 2011 Backroom Posted September 26, 2011 Do we know that he definitely made this statement today? Seems odd, I would hope it has been credited to him today but he actually said it earlier.
Amo Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 correct ..ITS ALL ABOUT VENKY PUBLICITY AND F THE ROVERS WITH THEM!!! Except that doesn't work when the team loses more often than not.
Al Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Jesus wept. Will somebody going out there please tell them the way it is and not just stroke them for the sake of 'good relations'. It's obvious from the FF minutes that the real problems with the team and the manager are never discussed.
AllRoverAsia Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Do we know that he definitely made this statement today? Seems odd, I would hope it has been credited to him today but he actually said it earlier. It's on Reuters India website today R India and R India full article The second link allows a query to be raised - see bottom of article. I have not queried it..............Reuters?

As has been said numerous times the fans forum doesn't ever discuss footballing issues at the 8 weekly meetings.
Andy Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 The Pune 9 will be done-up like a kipper if they go. Sky team going - smacks of one big PR exercise to mask over the state of our club. As said before, by not going, the Pune 9 would make a huge statement on behalf of our club. Completely agree. It's fair to say that this would make Venky's sit up and take notice that there is a serious situation going on right now. If they all go and make out that everything is brilliant at Ewood, then this will only confirm the BS that Kean is feeding them.
47er Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Maybe they can discuss Kean tactfully over the port and cigars? The ladies can get Mrs Desai on one side.
glen9mullan Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Just out of interest: 1.Will the people going to Pune be going on the same plane as the players? 2.Will all eleven be staying where the players are staying or will they be getting seperate hotels, or be stopping with the Rao's? Just thought i'd ask, so as i'm unsure how close to the action you will be, i.e player, Manager, Owner interaction

Stuart Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Unbelievable. "Venky’s director Balaji Rao said in a statement on Monday. “And perhaps the visit now could not have been better timed. The club is riding on a high after its big win over Arsenal, and the players are eager to share the glory with their Indian fans.”" "Share the glory" ?!?! Good grief. One word: Frightening.

Just thought i'd ask, so as i'm unsure how close to the action you will be, i.e player, Manager, Owner interaction The 9 + 2 are no longer on the same flight as the team (we were for a while, but plans changed) but I'd imagine the 9 are in the same hotel (as it seems everyone who travels to Pune on club business uses the same hotel). I'm not sure where the +2 (Mr & Mrs Roversmum) are staying as their invite was from the family directly, rather than the FF.
67splitscreen Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 List to pack, sleeping bag, mosquito net, camping gas, tin opener, enjoy!
Glenn Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 BTW I know it's nowhere near as post-worthy but did nobody really consider that the press release was written before the Newcastle game and Reuters simply didn't publish it straight away. I know Kam has spoken to Venky's PR (who I imagine wrote it) after the Newcastle game and they were very much aware of the result.
SouthAussieRover Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 As has been said numerous times the fans forum doesn't ever discuss footballing issues at the 8 weekly meetings. Nor will you be able to in Pune I'd suggest. So what are you hoping to achieve by travelling there? What sort of dialogue are you hoping to open? Do you understand why people are very sceptical as to the reasons why Venkys and their PR crew have invited you there? Can you forsee the same people asking you to sign some form of confidentiality agreement that prevents you discussing your visit there...apart from how wonderful it was?
bob fleming Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 BTW I know it's nowhere near as post-worthy but did nobody really consider that the press release was written before the Newcastle game and Reuters simply didn't publish it straight away. I know Kam has spoken to Venky's PR (who I imagine wrote it) after the Newcastle game and they were very much aware of the result. That's a fair point Glenn. It could have been written 10 minutes after the Arsenal match for all we know - however then, just as now, is not the time to be basking in any perceived "glory". Arsenal was our first win of the season. We then had a difficult trip to Newcastle and then the visit of City. Both eminently losable. So by the time the trip to Pune comes round there is a very real possiblity that the record will read; Played 7. Won 1, Drawn 1, Lost 5. No glory there, no one "on a high".

AllRoverAsia Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Of course we did.............don't spoil the fun. no idea when the PR may have been written but it is on Reuters India, and others, today and dated today. The power of the Press and PR
