[Archived] Leaky Blackburn End Roof...

Recommended Posts

What a miserable buggger that John Newsham is! I've never taken to him at all.

Check this out http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/blackburn-arsenal-15420064/

5.59 and 6.35 minutes in, Rovers 3rd and 4th goals and not a flicker of emotion. I think him and the bloke with the silver hair and brown coat alongside are barely human. Aliens maybe...... does somebody have Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones's phone number by any chance? Time for one of those shiny thingy type weapons to be tried out imo.

Your right about John Newsham, but the other guy with the siver hair works for sky he is there every sky match and never shows any emotion, suppose he has to be neutral.

Sounds like I do sit near you Ricky. The seats above the steps from the concourse are good seats!

O2G has kindly passed on the message so hopefully it will be sorted :tu:

To be fair Abbey, young men nowadays aren't made of as sterner stuff. But they are really big droplets of rain! ;)

Can't believe people moaning over a leaky roof! Mard

Obviously they never went into the old BBE - before seating.

Maybe a picture is required on here to show what the old ground was like, before the Jack walker era.

Anybody got any pictures / links etc.

There is a leak in the roof of the Blackburn End, which must happen every now and again, but there was a constant drip on me and the four seats surrounding me at the Arsenal game. Does anyone have an email address for John Newsham they could PM me?

The stewards have been told two games on the bounce now but it hasn't been addressed.

I'm taking this to the top :tu:

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Having just fallen off a roof today - (how I got no injury, bar brusing, is beyond me), all I can say is.

Somebody else can fix it.

What the hell did we do when the Blackburn End didn't have a roof.

I remember being at Huddersfield in an open end 25 years or so ago in December and we had a howling wind in our faces and precipitation that alternated from rain to hail to snow and back again. I looked like Scott of the Antarctic when I got out and could feel nothing above the neck or below the waist.

Also it rained so hard at Bournemouth in the early 90's that the Chairman invited the 50 or so of us into the main stand at half time despite it being full already.

At Port Vale in some stupid competition or other, we all hid in the Gents and sent out occasional scouts to find out if anyone had scored or not.

Not to mention the Riverside redevelopment when we had no cover and it seemed to pee down every game.

Drip my arze.

I remember going to Mansfield. Stood at the back and the floor was moving. The concret slab was loose and rocking.

im gonna ask for a heated seat!

Mard arse :D

Let's have some heaters installed in roof. The ones at Bayer Leverkusen were bloody marvellous! :)

I remember those (couldn't remember whether it was Salzburg or Lev) - didn't notice them at first, but remember being really hot and wondering why, til I saw them!

Euro away trips - those were the days!

All are either

a) dead

b.) can't control their bladders

c) senile

d) to busy moaing about 'their day' to go to games

e) one or more of b to d

;)

And to answer another request

And a video (atmosphere only equalled once since on VE day)

B&WA,

To answer you:

I'm obviously not dead

I can still hold my bladder and can hold my drink much better than some four decades younger.(it's how you consume, not what you consume)

Certainly not senile

Don't moan about much in general (ok maybe women drivers going the wrong way down exit roads),

so e is not an issue.

Just like to point out, to an old fart like me, those photos are recent.

I would post up a pre 1960 picture of the blackburn end with no roof when it held 4.5m people but I think I misplaced the cave drawing ;)

4.5 million people in the Blackburn End - now that's impressive.

Gates aren't what they used to be !

You can say that again Jim. I have been on that BBE on many occasions when you would swear that there was indeed 4.5m on. You quite literally could not move a muscle, and if you were unfortunate enough to need a pee then it was either hang on till the final whistle or wet yourself.

Also quite seriously now.....we used to have conversations at work on a Monday morning were we would discuss the alleged attendance figures (say it was given as 49,000) and virtually ALL agreed that it was just done to fool the Tax Authorities.
