[Archived] Protest at the City match.

Come Saturday, the MAJORITY of the fans need to come together to voice OUR displeasure at Steve Kean remaining as Blackburn Rovers manager. I have created this thread for people to put forward ideas and opinions on how we do this most effectively. So feel free!

Many have mentioned other managers who they feel would be ideal for the role as BRFC manger e.g. Martin O'Neill, Mark Hughes etc... Pedigree aside, the fans AT LEAST deserve a manger they can relate to. On the day of the City game, whatever your agenda, be heard! I do not personally hate Kean like some others may have shouted at the last protest but I attended because the least I require from a manager is someone I can relate to, someone who understands and respects the values and history of our great football club or even better... Someone who has a history with the club. This man does not deserve time and has not earned the right to ask for it.

Do not stand buy and let this Impostor ruin OUR football club when we all know that BRFC matters more to the fans than it will ever mean to Steve Kean... Deep down, we all know this as the truth.

Resign Steve Kean!

I'm definitely in, we need to make a real statement of intent to get him out of our club. I just feel so angry seeing this happen to Rovers. In the space of a year we've gone from one of the most stable/best run clubs in the country to a laughing stock. We can't stand for this, it's time to take serious action and show our love for Rovers before it's too late.

KEAN OUT NOW

For those who may have missed this...

From Mozsupportsrovers:

"Hi, just thought I'd post this as I have been left very dissapointed by this tonight

Me and a friend met Steve kean tonight as he exited St James park.

We both asked him for a minute of his time to ask a few questions. He refused.

His dismay of us both was disgusting. We asked were certain players were and why certain things were happening. Again he blanked us. We questioned him more, not being nasty at all. He still refused.

Yet at the same time answering every question by the newcatle fans.

Eventually he walked away leaving us disappointed. Then all of a sudden John Jensen jumped off the coach and seemed very embarred for what had happened. He answered our questions away from the crowd and came across politely and with dignity.

Chris samba then also came over to us and spoke about the happenings at the club, again we thanked him for his time.

Steve kean portrayed tonight the man who is gagged by the club and who is not interested in communicating with the fans.

Truly disappointed.

Jensens response was mainly, "I am not the manager, sorry you feel this way"

I questioned sambas leadership since the arsenal talk, he said "I'm trying my best and we are all dissapointed"

These were too be expected and we thanked them for at least talking to us.

Kean on the other hand was extremely rude and we were left dissapointed.

We didn't expect any in depth responses from him but a short talk with us would have surviced.

I asked 5 times if we could have 2 minutes of his time, away from the crowd of Newcastle fans. He refused.

Worst of all was when my friend said "Steve we are true fans, we are not the protestors, we have spent a lot of money today"

His response "oh well"

I hate to say this as I was willing to give him a bit more time. Not now.

I'm not bullshitting or rumour spreading but just think you all deserve to know what a horrible man we have in charge.

Thankyou."

Taken from the "I met Steve Kean after the Newcastle game" thread. THIS IS THE TRUE "MAN" WHO MANAGES OUR CLUB.

Agreed, we need to do whatever we can to make venkys realise that kean is a fraud, and for the good of our great club he has to go ASAP!

And as far as venkys are concerned, for the good of their investment kean has to go ASAP!

We have to make sure that venkys get the message in no uncertain terms.

KEAN OUT!

Neal et al,

What do you think of this idea?.......

So the Accy Stanley suggestion didn't go down too well, and I appreciate people's thoughts on that. But I still think that Kean needs to go sooner rather than later.

A message must be given to Venky's so that they realise how the fans feel about Kean's management.

I don't believe they watch all the matches. I don't believe they will hear people chanting anti-Kean songs at Ewood. So I think we need something visual to attract their attention.

The idea - After the first 5 minutes in the Man City match on Saturday, we all turn our backs on the Kean. We turn to face away from the pitch for 30-60 seconds.

The press cameras go wild. They're snap happy at the story. The pictures are in every Sunday paper. People are talking about it. Venky's will obviously end up seeing the images. It will make a bold statement.

Thoughts?

COYB,

Matt

An excellent idea, though i would never turn my back on my team, I would happily turn my back on Steve Kean. If this is to be done i would suggest the fans chant "Kean Out!" followed by "Come on you blues" or something positive to support the THE TEAM. Just so the intentions of the fans are clear.

Keep them coming!

How about 5 minutes after half time instead? (so that the team aren't thinking about what happened during the half time talk)

So 5 mins after half time, a chorus of "Kean Out", turn our backs for 30-60 seconds, then turn around and sing "Come on you Blueeeeees" or "We love you Rovers, we do. We love you Rovers, we do. We love you Rovers, we do. Oh Rovers we love you."

The problem with this idea is, if you don;t get thousands to do it then it will not work. Many who will openly protest will be spread around the ground, so you will have a few here and there doing it.

Spreading the word would also be a major issue as the press exhausted all their efforts in the last protest.

There is currently a facebook group set up on the protest for the City match which I have posted the details in another thread.

It basically says.

Take all your banners, posters, flyers ect to the game.

1.Go on the match as Normal, support the team as Normal, however if the game takes a turn for the worst get the chanting going for Kean out!! This has to be done spontaneously with what is happening on the pitch to get the maximum effect. More people will join in if we are getting leathered, Whilst on the other hand if we are winning everyone will want to get behind the team for the three points.

2. If the result is not favourable (Lets pray we win) then after the match we all remain seated and remain in the ground for 20 minutes to air our opinion.

3. If we are removed then the protest goes to the Jsck Walker stand Entrance.

Any sort of protest which is not controlled carries risk, hence we marched last time because we knew that with the co-operation of the Police we would be able to keep any anti social behavour to a minimum or eradicate totally.

Once a protest goes outside the ground, and andrenalin is pumping it could get heated, however as it would reflect the result more will be inclined to get involved.

I don't think it needs complicating too much, People can show their disapproval with their voices during the game if its not going well, and more will join in with this. Whilst remaining in the ground will also be a better idea as its still a controlled environment.

We don't want any protest making the back pages of the paper for the wrong reason, and if its not communicated properly then it will all go "PETE TONG"

Not everyone uses BRFCS or Facebook, and word needs to travel of what is planned. By putting time scales on things, i.e turning your backs on games, this can be lost in translation as news travels.

A simple case of chanting and remaining seated after the game, is not to hard for people to pass the word on.

Lol Glen, I read on Twitter several hours ago that you were gettin an early night! Eat, Sleep and Dream Blackburn Rovers, eh!

Yea see your point about communication, was chattin to Chris in the other thread about having a couple of banners saying "Show your backs to Kean" then if all the ones who know about it from here, facebook etc do it, the rest will understand and follow suit.

5 mins after half time, then the team won't be thinking about it during the half time teamtalk.

It's a peaceful protest and shouldn't cause any bother, plus we don't have to ask the press to do anythin, they'll report it anyway as they'll have all the photos.

I'm really up for it (obvs) but I can see the concerns!

Also, I think if a block of around 200 do it at least, that will make for a large photo that'll go well next to a match report.

I can see the caption already: "Doing the Poznan? Blackburn Rovers fans show their disapproval of Steve Kean"

It shouldn't be that hard to get ppl to do it. If there are people that know about it from the internet, as soon as they stand up and turn around just shout to the other fans around somethin like "We're turning our backs on Steve Kean to make a point to Venky's. Join in and show you're not happy with results." They will join in, I'm sure of it. And if they don't, I'm the idiot who suggested it and I will happily be chastised on here for ever more. But it's worth a shot imo!

All taken on board Glenn. If anyone else has ideas of effective ways to protest the please feel post here!

I appreciate the reasoning of "if the game takes at turn for the worse" but...

I have begun this thread because I believe that no matter the result, a voice of protest needs to be heard before, during and after the game to relieve Steve Kean of his duties. Another "miracle" result will just shadow the real reasons as to why Kean should leave.

Why don't we join in with a bit of blue moon too but change it to:

Steve Kean, please resign today...because the club that I love, is only going one way!

That way you don't need loads of people to hear about it because they'll join in if they want to!

If you think venkys do not watch all the matches, they will not see fans turning their backs. The protest has to be vocal, so that everybody knows what it is about. Prior to kick off may be the best bet. Then again at Half time. But get behind the team when the match is on. That way the players know they have the fans support. But Kean does not.

My suggestion is therefore chant KEAN OUT before kick off.

watch and support the team during the match

Chant KEAN OUT at half time

Then support the team during the second half.

Maybe chant KEAN OUT at the final whistle. Because even with a win v city, we still would want him out.

I simply cannot believe you guys are talking about yet another protest. The last one dodn't go down too well with some of the fans and as we won the game then it made the whole thing seem worthless.

I do want Kean out and i think he's the wrong man to run our club but you have to be bloody clever about this.

My suggestion is to see what happens on Saturday and if we are getting beat then i'm sure there'll be quite a few unhappy people in the ground and a corus of Kean out 5 minutes from time will go down very well indeed and it will leave a lasting impression on Kean himself and will also give you the coverage that you need.

Doing it before the game is silly and doing it at half time the same but if you give it 85 mins and we are playing sh**e then the let you feelings be known. :)

How about a sit down protest after the game.

In the event (which is looking rather likely) that we get absolutely hammered people simply refuse to leave the ground. Be that in our seats or walking onto the pitch post match. Nobody can complain about it affecting the team (not that it did against Arsenal) as it is after the match. The cameras shall already be there.

People in numbers shall already be there and will be somewhat angry in the event of another awful performance. Something has to be done. We are going to oblivion otherwise. Steve Kean has to go. Apathy is going to kill the club.

So how about it. Stay in the ground after the final whistle.

Not for five minutes but for a sustained period of time. Enough for the national media to take note. If they do and we can clearly show it is more than that 1% Kean talked about it will crank up the pressure one more notch.

Apologies hadn't seen Glen's post. (a +1 from me though)

Not sure a protest will work for you sorry and a sit down one at that.

Booing 5 minutes from time will get it into the heads of the right people and then the same again at the next game if we are getting beat.

Then after 3 or 4 games if we are still in the same predicament then yes a protest. :)

If we lose badly and match and post match protests go ahead, the coup de grace could be delivered by the Pune 9 issuing a collective statement to the press stating that they will not be going to India as the club is clearly in deep crisis and the Raos need to get over here immediately, sack Kean and appoint an experienced manager as quickly as possible.

Now that would make excellent press and create huge embarrassment and PR issues for Venky's.

It would be telling if the Pune9 refused to go if the scenario you paint happens.

Before and after the Arsenal protest it was said that during the game everyone was their to support the team 100% people turning their back on the game certainly doesn't do that.

That's a bloody brilliant suggestion Mercerman. Absolute quality! It would be an embarrassment for them and they'd have to act to clear up the situation.

Would the Pune 9 agree to missing out on the free holiday though? Going over there would be a great experience for them too.

With all due respect Neal, you wanted rid of Sam Allardyce too, and look where that has got us.

There's no "all due respect" from you here. You're just dragging up needless information that doesn't help the situation at hand. So what if Neal wanted rid of Allardyce? Allardyce had us playing terrible football, he patronised the club and the fans saying we only cared about 3 points, not what the football was like. Saying he should be at Real Madrid, Inter etc. He was never overjoyed to be here, he was p*ssed off Newcastle sacked him and he had to settle for little old Rovers.

We deserved better than him and now we deserve better than Kean.
