[Archived] Protest at the City match.

The reason they had to be moved on is,

a) Everyone with a ticket is allowed to stay in an event until the event organisor, I.e in todays case (Blackburn Rovers football club) deems their presence no longer valid. With this the club was happy for people to remain in their place for 20-30 minutes, but then wanted everyone to leave.

B) When you are asked to leave and refuse to, you then become a trespasser as its private property, Your human rights then don't come into play and you are committing a public order offence.

c) I'm not a football hooligan and had no wish to break the law, and if we had not left then we would of been on public order offences and risk future attendance within Ewood Park. Would you want that? Our voice had been heard and we had made our point. The Police took me to one side and told me as my name was attached to the protest I had to request fans to exit (which I did, No-one had to listen to me, but by doing what I was asked I covered myself from being accountable).

d) If we act unreasonable there is not a cat in hopes chance of the club discussing issues with fans.

e) We was in ground for around 40 minutes, During this time the players and much of the coaching staff was exiting the ground via the Blackburn end Entrance.

I think it went really well, and i think most would agree, last thing we need is trouble being attached to a protest.

Today was unorganised and thus already removed blame from yourself. It isnt actually you I was disapointws with, more the police.

"move put of the stand and to jw entrance" then they cut us off fr there.

To make matters worse, an incident in what used to be the infirmary inn resulted in myself and a few others having to do emergency first aid.

That ended in myself personally receiving personal threats against my safety for helpibg someone in need (and if any of the fans that stood for me against said people, I give you all massive kudos)

I'd like to say at the outset of this post that I take no pleasure in writing it. What follows is from a fan who has seen this club of ours on more than 100 different grounds, from Wembley to Willington, over the years. Although I couldn't go on the march before the Arsenal game, due to age and infirmity, I did stay behind after today's game [100 - 200 of us? :angry2: As the Aussie members of this Board might say, "Yeah, Right!] and was glad I had.

I'm someone who has changed in the past few weeks from being a "Go on; give Kean a bit longer to turn things round." fan to a "He has to go now" fan.

I now live 20-30 miles from Ewood and no longer drive. Although I have friends who live further away who are usually able to detour and collect me and although I've got a season ticket, at the moment I can't see me making the effort at my age [i've got a Pensioner's Season Ticket] to come over for the Spurs' game.

I mean; what's in it for me?

Frustration at the probability of [yet another] spanking, while the man whom Venkys have appointed and apparently believe is the man to lead us to a place in the European competitions  can do nothing to change things once we go behind?

Chanting the various anti-Kean chants?

Being generally depressed at seeing the club I've loved [and stood up for, even in the dark days in the old Division 3] being humiliated?

I don't think so.

I've said this elsewhere on this Board before; but if you were in what I think is now called Year 3 at school in Blackpool in 1953 and you know, because your Dad's told you, that Rovers, then halfway up the old Division Two, were better than the Blackpool team which had just won the F.A. Cup, then you've got the Rovers' bug pretty badly. I will never stop being a Rovers' fan [the chant "Rovers till I die" could have been written for me!]; but, at this moment, I feel totally impotent at what seems to be happening to the club I was brought up to love. That's one reason why I was quite glad that the club management were so slow at sorting out shirt sponsorship this year - I don't want to walk round giving free advertising to some product I don't have any feeling for; I want to wear a shirt not so different from the one worn by the first Rovers teams I watched and proclaim my feeling of "belonging" to a club I've been proud to support for 50+ years.

Ever since we were in the inaugural Premier League season, I've been proud to follow a team which has, with the exception of a couple of seasons, punched well above its weight. I fear that, unless our owners take decisive action now, we run the serious danger of falling out of the Premier League and not being able to return for the foreseeable future.

I've been going since we had the old stadium, my dad used to pass me over turnstiles as a small boy and i feel exactly the same fella.

Exactly the same thoughts,1966 my first game funny enough we were relegated that year but we had players then who would put this lot to shame.

Feel sorry for you mate, I'm 30 and been going 20 years and feel exactly the same.

Sunday morning,

Not ever felt like this about our club, watched all the usual footie stuff and it seems we the fans are a bunch of idiots.

Maybe it's our turn for years in the wilderness and there ain't a dam thing we can do to stop it.

I didn't go yesterday. Season ticket holder and the rest. First game in 1970.

I don't feel like making the 40 mile drive to watch the club in this state. It's like visiting an ill friend or relative.

Kean out! Venkys out!

I didnt go either due to wife related commitment. However, it was prob the first time I was glad to not have to go and use my season ticket!

I've supported Rovers since the late 60s and travel from Glasgow with my sons on Darwen End season tickets. I fully empathise with those of you who are considering whether it is all worth it. I swore after we lost the play off final in 1989 that I would never get that emotionally involved again (I felt like I had been personally robbed that day), but we can't really help it can we?

The one thing that is going to keep me turning up is that illogical feeling that "today might be our day". For all that we were unbelievably lucky against Arsenal, the look of joy on my youngest son's face when the final whistle went you just can't put a price on. He turned round to me and said "This is why we're Rovers fans dad".

We've been through tough times before and survived, and we will do so now, DESPITE Kean and DESPITE Venkys. Hell, some of my happiest Rovers memories involve lower league football and crumbling grounds. Some of you younger posters probably think the sky really is falling in though, and I can understand that.

I would urge all Rovers fans to stop buying from the club shop, stop buying programmes, stop buying pies, beer etc from the ground, stop using Ewood Park for conferences etc and hit the club in the pocket. Rovers don't really have a global market, and rely more than most clubs on local support, both financial and emotional. I think they will be starting to get the emotional message thanks to the banners etc yesterday - great coverage and even the Sunday Supplement crowd on Sky this morning spoke about us sympathetically for a few minutes. As for our financial support - even a short term burst of economic withdrawal from all Rovers products will surely force their hand.

Those Fans Forum people going to Pune have a massive responsibility to try and articulate how important the fans are and what we expect if they get the chance to.

Unless I've missed it, surprised that more has not been made of the protest outside the JW stand after the match. It went on until at least about 5.30 before police moved people on. I'd say there were about a couple of hundred involved.

The lower leagues are not like the 'good old days' anymore darwenblues.

Flat pack all seater stadiums charging 20 odd quid to watch journeymen footballers who STILL earn thousands a week kick lumps out of each other is not my idea of 'real football'.

Ask a Sheff Wed fan how they enjoy it. We've built something special at this football club, why should we accept gross mismanagement and a potential dive through the leagues?

Was unable to make game yesterday due to other commitments. Well done to those who protested and continue to get the message across.

Will be back for the Spurs game - Can't see us getting anything from QPR so it'll be battle station Ewood for the Spurs game.

In terms of protest we have been unlucky with fixtures ie number of opposition fans. The sheer volume of City fans yesterday made it hard for the anti -kean chanting to come across. Spurs will only bring a third of that amount - so we should be heard loud and clear.

If Kean is still here and we have lost at QPR, we should get on his back from the start IMO

Keep your heads up people, THIS IS OUR CLUB and one way or another WE WILL remove the turd from our 136 yr old boots.

Sadly, nothing lasts forever...ask the fans of Leeds and the two Sheffield clubs.I'm sorry to say it just feels we are heading in the same direction right now.

It is very strange isnt it? 7 games in and relegation is the only thing I can see happening!

Am I being negative????.......Yes but what else can you be there is absolutely no positivity at our club at the moment!

Matty - we shouldn't, nor am I advocating that we should. The very point I was making is that simply giving up going to games shouldn't be the answer, understandable though those people's feelings are.

The protests must be stepped up again at games if he simply refuses to go..we all know what we have to do as fans of OUR club.

The situation is clearly untenable now for Kean, there is no turning back.

Its horrible that we have been put into this situation into the first place but hey ho, Mrs Desai knows best!

I think it went really well, and i think most would agree, last thing we need is trouble being attached to a protest.

Good work again Glen.

I wonder if any of the cowards who called Glen and the other protestors "idiots" after the Arsenal match for fighting for the future of the club would like to pop up and apologise.

Indeed tgm , something I posted the other week about the 'majority' and the lack of 'Kean In' protest.

I was outside the JW stand yesterday after the match and spoke with both police and stewards. They had no issues at all providing the behaviour remained 'sensible'. In fact the comment from one steward was along the lines of, I wish I could rip this bloody vest off and join in.

What they said to you is correct. Also as the police know that there are 'tensions / protests etc' they will monitor sites such as this for possible incitement to cause public disorder etc. Take names etc. Yours Glen would already be known to them.

It is essential that any who post their opinions do so in a legal manner. Some may say that they would be ok cos their username is not linked to their actual name. That maybe so. But your computer ip address is - even if it is a shared computer. (I am sure those more tech knowledgeable than I would be able to confirm or explain more)If those running this site were asked to hand those details over, they would be duty bound to do so.

When people break the law during protests, many people, even those who are in favour of the reason, would with draw their support. So for all of us who are not happy with the owners and Kean have to protest within the law - then we will be heard and maybe achieve the desired results in the end.

Lets be honest protest have got a bad reputation in the light of the student and the city riots. Which does not surprise me if those in favour of the reasons for the protest, do not get involved. The fear of getting roped in to unsavioury elements of protests, puts many people off.

I guess you wanted us to Keep Sam then, or was getting rid of him after Manchester United also laughable?

Dear oh dear. I'll just answer the question and not point out the blatant error in your post, given so many have done it before me.

Yes, I wanted to keep Big Sam. Liked the guy, personally. Football was crap, but got results, and he had the ability to persuade big names and good players to come in. With Venky's backing, Raul would be here by now, and I think we'd be in Europe.

Still finding it amazingly hard to trust some Rovers fans, as it's the same fickle people that wanted Sam out that now want Kean out, yet refuse to take even a little bit of responsibility for us being in the position we're in now. Venky's listened to this minority, they got what they wanted against everyone else's wishes. That's the depressing thing about all of this.

I'm a firm believer that Sam wouldn't have been fired if that minority hadn't spoken out against him. And it's those supporters I hold responsible for this. They can proclaim that they have the best interests of the club at heart, but they didn't, don't, and never will.

Those who supported Sam and the team? Hold your head high. You didn't contribute to the clubs downfall. Take pride in that.

Telling Mark to "get a grip" was said because thats the way he seems to talk to people in general, if you read my other posts you may see that I try to be as respectful as possible but in this current situation I think it's time some people face cold reality.

I don't talk to everyone like this. I'm still bitter at you for being part of the reason Sam was fired, which you still haven't acknowledged fully in here. I completely understand why though. Everyone that wanted Sam out has gone quiet regarding that matter.

You're a good guy Neal, but that one thing is unforgivable.

The thought that some of that minority (I won't name names) are among those going to Pune as representatives of us all frankly makes me feel a bit ill.

You're not serious... are you? We're screwed. These are now the people that Venky's are listening to on how to run the club?

Anyone with any conscience will admit what they did and that they were wrong. But they won't.

Oh man. :(
