Can someone please ask them some questions

1. If the unthinkable happens & the club are relegated will they continue to support the club in the lower leagues?

2. We keep hearing Steve Kean is a good thinker & very positive man in their opinion are those the only qualities needed to be a successful manager?

3. In the last 2 games the team have scored 1 goal & conceded 7 goals in your opinion is this acceptable form? What will be done to turn around such poor form? What was your opinion of the Man City game did the team play well?.

Thanks.

We already know the answer to that one. The manager will do nothing to try to lift a team that has conceded two quick goals. He'll hide in the back of the dug out because he has no idea what to do and can't face the fact that this means he'll get abuse from fans. I have not always been anti-Kean. When he was first appointed I tried to give him time to see if he could grow into the job but it is obvious that far from it, the job has got bigger and bigger for him and he can't cope. It's like watching that insurance advert where the water starts coming through the roof and they put a bucket under the drip but do nothing to fix the actual hole the water's coming in through and soon there are drips everywhere till the whole ceiling comes down and evreything beneath it is ruined.

Message to the Venky's rep reading the Board:

Please do not bring a Director of Football in to work with Steve Kean.

DOF's never work in clubs. The problem is Kean, bringing someone else in will not solve the problems at Rovers.

Admit to making a massive mistake with Kean and sack him, the fans will collectively back any competent replacement, and i'm sure results would improve.

I concur.

Kean is the reason we are bottom of the league and the problem will not go away until you sack Kean and appoint a proper, experienced manager.

Once you do, the fans and club will be united once again.

According to the Rao brothers only a few fans have been sending thousands of emails.

Correct me if Im wrong but when you sign up for a web mail client, dont you have to have a backup email address? So if only a few fans are sending thousands of emails from numerous email addresses, then would it not take a hell of a long time just simply to setup these accounts not mentioning writing out various, different emails to send as to not look like its come from a "few"

Get in the real world Venkys. Come and live on Green Lane for 6 months or Mill Hill. Then you would understand where we are all coming from.

Also, just a small one..............Get Steve Kean out of our club and as far away from Blackburn as possible.

Maybe give him a job feeding the thousands of people over in India you feed (Which i think is very generous BTW and well done on that one)

No it wouldn't. Its very easy to fake a "from" email address. Just code a mail server and small app with a loop and you could generate bucket loads a second - for the "unique" content just pick a few (maybe 100) sentances that could link together in different orders and pick a few random ones each time. Not saying thats whats happened but it is quite easy to do.

To whom it may concern,

I shall keep this e-mail short, as I am sure you are all very busy people. As I have stated before, I am worried about the consistent and unflinching support for Steve Kean, the current Blackburn manager. You must have heard by now that there are calls for his removal from his post as manager. These are the view of the majority of fans despite what Mr. Kean may be saying to yourselves in private. The fans are at the end of their tether with the results since Kean took over and though the protest marches may number 1,000 or so, they do actually represent the consensus. Kean has taken the team from a solid mid table position to an increasingly likely relegation, something which you don't need me to tell you is bad. Whilst I respect your loyalty to an employee, when someone is obviously incapable of doing a job, then it time to let them go. The rock solid support shown to a man who has consistently lied, including under oath in a court of law has led some to question the Rao family's suitability as owners, and even some wild conspiracy theories involving Jerome Anderson, Kean's agent, and the takeover of the club from the Walker Trust. The consternation of the fans about the way things are going has reached such a level, and those who didn't visit Pune are rapidly turning against your ownership of the club.

There have been rumours doing the rounds that Walter Smith has been offered a Director of Football role at the club, and that Mark Hughes and Martin O'Neill have been offered such a role recently. All three men would be far better suited to actually managing the club instead of Kean, rather than acting as an experienced guide for a lost cause. Steve Kean may be a good coach, but as the number 1 boss, he has been terrible. It is time to either remove him completely, or face the consquences of relegation and the £50m gap in income. Please for goodness sake do the right thing and tell Kean that his services are no longer needed at the club.

Yours sincerely,

Billy Castell (a real person, and not a computer generated logarithm)

DOF's never work in clubs.

Plenty of foreign clubs use them. It's also standard operating procedure in some other team sports. So it definitely can work. But perhaps not in the UK, with the role of the manager so ingrained and the resistance to change. The key part is of course also the DoF being the one to choose the manager, as they need to share a similar philosophy on football.

There's also no set way for how it works. A DoF could have a similar role to what JW had, or they could have a similar role to what a manager has these days. What I like about it though is that it allows the manager to focus more on the players he does have, training, match preparation, man management etc, while having to spend less time recruiting. Obviously can't have the situation where the DoF just signs players the manager doesn't want or need, but if the working relationship is good then I like it.

That's not to say I think that's what we should do; I don't. We don't need more upheaval than necessary right now. We need a manager to come in and steady the ship and maintain our premiership status. Changes in structure shouldn't be made during the season.

'Algorithm' I think you meant.

Yeah, that sounds right. The whole maths/computer thing is something I know little about. I sent that off to Venny, Barry White and Paul Hunt, and got a pretty gash reply off Ms. (or maybe even Mr.) Talbot:

Dear Billy

Thank you for your e-mail.

The owners have made their ongoing support for the manager very clear as has the playing squad. Therefore, the Board of Blackburn Rovers are urging all fans to give maximum support to the team.

Competing in the hardest football league in the world is tough enough and we need ALL our fans to be 100 per cent committed to the team.

Thank you for your support.

I haven't replied to it, as I've only just seen it, and I may not even reply as it obviously isn't worth the effort. In short, we are ____ed with these tools in charge.

They say it's a few fans sending emails purporting to be from loads. Well if that isn't a standard email response I don't know what is. WE all give support to the team on the pitch provided they are trying. What we'd like to be able to do is get back to supporting our CLUB. At the moment we are being asked to do 2 very different things and that is tearing many apart. Kean has lost the support of every Rovers fan I know, even those who wanted him to do well at the start and hoped we might have found a gem by accident. I'm not talking the more outspoken end of our support either - I'm talking middle aged women like myself, I'm talking kids in school as well, Rovers fans from all walks of life have had enough. I know that some messageboards may seem to say the opposite, but I meet a fair number of people who would never go on a message board to discuss their club but who are very very angry at what is happening.

I'm going to Ewood but I don't want to. I don't want us to win, because that will definitely prolong Kean's stay and I don't want us to lose because how can you want your own team to lose and all it would appear to mean is that we would be further adrift and yet our manager will not lose his job. I fear violence coming to the fore if the owners remain adamant Kean has their support as he is so loathed by fans adn i can see frustration tipping over into something uglier. I used to send my kids to Ewood on their own if neither my husband nor I could go with them I used to let my teenage daughter go to away matches on her own or with friends because I knew she'd generally be safe in a Rovers crowd. That was what our club WAS like. Now I'm not sure any more.

I completely agree and share you concerns.

People will begin to feel the need to 'up the ante' to get the owners attention.

Let's hope not because some of the suggestions (e.g. burning Indian flags) are very worrying indeed.

I feel like replying with something like this:

Dear Mr. Hunt,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post, even if I believe it was a standardised post. I believe this is ironic as the Rao family are said to believe that the e-mails on the topic of Steve Kean are down to a few computer wizards generating spam. To address what you have sent me, it seems that by having doubts about the competence of Steve Kean, the club and the owners believe that I, and other fans are responsible for the current problems by not believing enough, by not blindly cheering every loss or poor performance. At least that is the general impression I get from the Rao family, from Kean himself and from the above e-mail.

I am unaware of your taste in films, but this level of delusion reminds me of the German film Downfall, where Hitler is in the Fuhrerbunker directing imaginary armies to sweep away the Russians from Berlin. Whilst thankfully, the Rao family and indeed Kean do not share any political or social views of Herr Hitler, there are parallels in the general thought processes if you take the public statements at face value. Firstly, there is the suspicion and removal of competent and experienced staff at the administrative level in favour of those who were slavishly loyal. Hitler removed and ignored many of the Prussian Wehrmacht generals in favour of flunkies like Jodl and Keitel. It seems that John Williams and Tom Finn, two popular and very able members of the boardroom who would probably have helped the Raos understand football have been replaced by agents such as Jerome Anderson or Pin Zahavi who would obviously have vested interests in screwing as much money out of the club as possible.

Then there are the public statements that Kean is a "brilliant manager". Statistically he is probably one of, if not the worst in the club's history and has driven fans away from the club. Indeed, this backing of Kean has driven some fans so far as to send back their season tickets and give up on the club completely, and we are not talking of the sort who turn up because they think David Dunn is rather dishy or Salgado has nice hair. We are talking fans who have been there for 20,30 or more years And now Steve Kean's statements are getting increasingly worrying, in his usage of obscure statistics to pretend that the latest abject performance was actually fantastic, but we were just unlucky. I and every other fan couldn't care about how many times the team got into the penalty area if Jason Roberts balloons it into row Z every time and Rovers lose 3-0. Nor do can I see a top 10 finish in this division with a team that plays like they have only just met that morning.

It strikes me that Kean and the Raos have decided to enter a fantasy world where the league table is upside down and that we are actually doing well. There is a saying that the definition of insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Yet this unyielding belief that Mr. Kean can somehow magically wake up and be the next Alex Ferguson just because he does a bit of overtime makes me wonder about those with their hands on the levers of power. Again, this strange psychological condition brings me to the last few days of the Third Reich, where many witnesses in the bunker saw Hitler ordering generals with decimated armies to attack the millions of Russian soldiers and that the Volkstrum volunteers, old men and children could substitute their lack of planes, guns and bullets for a fanatical belief in National Socialism against well supplied and battle hardened soldiers. I repeat that I am not saying that relegation is the same as World War 2, that would be madness, but that it seems that that the same way of thinking appears to have infected the club's owners and manager.

If I'm honest Billy, I'd probably lose the Nazi theme.

It probably isn't going to do your argument any favours.

Depends how seriously you want to get into any debate with the board members at Rovers.

True, but there is no point in trying to debate with these people. Anyway, I stand by the Nazi stuff, as if you do not study and understand the psychology of disaster and madness, it will repeat itself in other situations. Dismissing such evil in an off-hand manner and not dissecting the thought processes is dangerous and will not benefit anyone. As someone who has a history and politics degree, such parallels are obvious to me, and Hitler is more than a 2 dimensional loon who allegedly liked being shat on and may have had syphilis.

I've given up using the e-mail to try and convince them to sack Kean. I've tried a few times, and they will not listen to any of us. So I tried to give it as strongly as I could without calling them a load of idiotic ___holes.

Dear Venky's, I'm one of the people who emailed you several weeks ago to warn you what would happen if you did not replace Steve Kean with an experienced manager. The Club is now bottom of the Premier League so I think you will agree that our concerns were well founded. For the sake of the Club, the fans and your investment please take immediate action before it is too late. Thank you.
