jim mk2 Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 So young 52 , used to love watch him bowl and who can forget the ashes! Good fast bowler for England, took more than 130 Test wickets at an average of about 29. Ironically, will probably be best remembered for his batting in the eighth wicket partnership of 117 with Botham in the epic Ashes Test at Headingley in 1981. Best Test match I have ever seen.

He outscored Botham for a lot of that partnership didn't he?

T4E Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 "The batssmans Holding the bowlers Willie" anothe quote from that era. Other way round, and probably never said.
Hanks Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Other way round, and probably never said. "The bowler's Holding the batsman's Willey." try this link http://www.johnners.com/goofs.html , it was said by Brian Johnson when describing Michael Holding bowling to Peter Willey. It occurred in the 1976 Oval Test match between England and the West Indies.
