dazmaz Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Sure you can find a way to conert the controls. I find that using L1 +shoot works best inside the box (placed shot) and using just shoot outside the box. Letting go of sprint helps put it on target more of the time.

OhmiBRFC Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 i adopt the break a leg approach lol Players get past me too easy. And it's frustrating. I usually end up turning off quite quickly
Hughesy Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Shooting - R1 and shoot button to finese (place your shot) R2 and shoot to chip on rushing keepers. A few tips, always use pace with all players. Try and move the ball about by passing it as much as you can and throw the odd unexpected turn when running forward, dribbling with the ball. Think its L1 which holds the ball closer to the player whilst running with the ball.
Nelsta Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 In match both off and online, when your opponent has the ball press the back button(select on ps3) and you will control your keeper whilst legendary AI take control of your team, then when you have the ball back press the back button again and regain team control.

In other words dont really play the game and just cheat
Clitherover Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 As obvious as it sounds just start on an easier setting and keep playing until it gets too easy then crank up the difficulty, on an easier setting you'll get more opportunities to shoot and will improve over time.
dazmaz Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Using contain helps alot with the new defending (x ps3, a xbox, default config) then let go and tackle when the player takes too big of a touch, or use team mate contain and manually cover the pass to intercept. If not then use jockey and put a foot in when you get close enough

If not then use jockey and put a foot in when you get close enough Personally I never use contain and never ever use the team mate contain. It just pulls you and the AI defenders out of position too much. I essentially control the midfield using the left stick and switching between players. I then jockey on the wings, if they get past i use sprint and almost charge into them and hassle them or slide tackle. If they get into the box and its all getting a bit last ditch, thats when I use the tackle button. I have a few friends who use these techniques as well. On the shooting front it used to be a case of using a finesse shot but now it seems to be more balanced. Shooting early tends to catch the keeper off guard which is a good technique. I only really use finesse about 18 to 20 yards out on an angle. I use about 1/2 3/4 power and hope to bend it over the top of the keeper. I used to play fifa 8, 9, 10 and 11 on world class/ Legendary. I had to tone this one right down to semi pro to get the basics and work my way up.

I essentially control the midfield using the left stick and switching between players. Same here. My defending usually consists of pressing L1 to switch players and just making sure there are no gaps. I end up intercepting an attempted through pass, or I'll make a tackle when they go to cross or shoot. If you just close down and try to tackle everybody you'll leave far too many gaps that will be exploited with a through ball. Never try to tackle when a one-two is being attempted, just follow the player who will be running on to the second ball. As for shooting, it's all about timing the shoot when the player's body is in a good position to execute the shot with appropriate technique. If it's stuck under his feet or he's off balance then it will rarely go in. Also, try not to shoot with the weaker foot.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Any tips on freekicks? I've scored 1 freekick in about 4 years
cmb211087 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I used to be able to score freekicks for fun on 08 and 09, then they changed it all :-(
novella Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 For freekicks around 20 yards out try lining up the last man on the wall with the inside of the post. Then hit it with just over half power and hold up. They are fairly random though so don't always work.
Kamy100 Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I have been messing about with the settings and am now using the ones below, it makes the game MUCH more realistic: --------------- User/CPU Game Customization --------------- Sprint Speed - 50/50 Acceleration - 50/48 Shot Error - 50/45 Pass Error - 55/75 Shot Speed - 50/50 Pass Speed - 60/60 Injury Frequency - 95/95 Injury Severity - 50/60 Goalkeeper Ability - 50/50 Positioning:Marking - 60/60 Positioning:Run Frequency - 80/70 Positioning: Line Height - 45/45 Positioning: Line Length - 50/50 Positioning: Line Width - 50/50 Positioning: Fullback Positioning - 80/70 Power Bar - 60
Miker Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Kamy what effect do the settings actually have? Might try tweaking them to see. I usually use triangle for a lot of through balls when I play, works great if you time it right. Shooting used to be a problem, but I got the hang of it now. Trick is to just tap it, so you don't blast it over. I only use finesse show from far out or if I've turned a defender and need to place my shot. One thing that's been disappointing with FIFA 12 is the crossing. It's terrible now. I crossed frequently in FIFA 11, but now it either goes out or too far back. Can I change the settings for this?? Heading is a bit harder too.

Heading is a bit harder too. This setting make the game a bit more realistic, for example I find that playing against the AI, their passing to accurate, with the pass error set to the figure above for the CPU you will find that when you play poor sides (ie Championship side in the cup) that their passing matches the abilities of their players. It is superb that EA put these gameplay sliders in the game, it allows you tweak the game to make it much more realistic, by default everything is set at 50, so you get a very generic experience but if you tweak the settings it gives you a totally different gameplay experience. I have also changed the camera, set it Tele (Broadcast) put the Zoom to 0 and height to 16, looks great.
Hughesy Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Up to division 5 in the head to head seasons leagues....after 6 seasons. Just 1 year I failed to gain promotion so far.

To change go to settings
