If that be the case MG.Road then Blackburn Rovers F.C. are finished.

In a pickle for sure - But I wouldn't say they're finished.

I'd personally like to see SK replaced, but until somebody makes themselves available for the position, we're stuck with him. Nothing to do but support the team and hope for the best. Maybe instead of holding up banners saying 'KEAN OUT!' you should hold up banners saying,

EXPERIENCED FOOTBALL MANAGER WANTED.

PLEASE CALL VENKY'S ON +91 20 24250584

FOR MORE INFORMATION.

'Cos until there's somebody willing to replace him, all the protests and sit-ins in the world are pointless (unless you'd prefer no manager at all). :tu:

I don't accept that the reason Kean's not been sacked is because no one has ' made themselves available'. If the post became available there would still be plenty of interest and money talks.

Balaji has just been interviewed on Granada reports saying that, yes, wait for it folks! we 'must trust them to make the right decisions'.

I wouldn't trust Venky's to tell me what day it is.

Trust and respect are earnt and the Rao family have done nothing, absolutely nothing to deserve one jot of trust.

Boy they make so angry.

Quick note for you. Managers won't declare themselves interested in a job whilst there is a manager already in place, it's not the done thing, etiquette it's called. When Kean is sacked by all means advertise, maybe even approach someone on the quiet before then, but if Venkys think they're going to get applicants while he is still in the job they are very much mistaken. So no change there then.

Our beloved Sam Allardyce? I don't think so.

Heck of a lot better than now though eh? Under Sam fans moaned about the style, threatened to stop going, and then didn't. Under Kean fans moan about the results, threaten to stop going, and have done in droves. Even those who have been going for decades. Life under Sam was bloody brilliant compared to this.

While I may have despaired about the style of Sam's football, I was just glad [and proud] that he kept This Great Club Of Ours in the top tier of English football. And "on buttons", too!

When the Trust sold out, Venky's pot of gold appeared to be a real bonus. Sadly; it's proved to be a case of "be careful what you wish for", imo.

Can't the Sam haters get it? Ending up with a manager like Kean was always gonna be far more likely than ending up with one like Hughes.

Managers who have succeeded long-term with small clubs (i.e. Rovers-size) in the PL in the last 5 years:

Hughes, Pulis, Allardyce, Curbishley, Redknapp. (5)

Managers who have failed long-term with small clubs in the PL in the last 5 years:

Megson, Martinez, Coleman, Sanchez, Di Matteo, Mowbray, Lee, Jewell, Hutchings, McCleish, Grant, Zola, Laws, Brown, Dowie, Hart, Adams, Strachan, Southgate, Reed. (20)

Jury out:

Bruce, Coyle, Hodgson, McCarthy, Holloway, Warnock, Pardew.

Those who expected a manager who could achieve mid-table/top-half with style and sustain it for more than a season were seriously, seriously deluded. Allardyce was a rare breed for being able to do it full stop, and his knockers wanted something even rarer (i.e. a Hughes). Of course what we ended up with was something extremely common.

This international window was the time to start again with the structure of the club from top to bottom. A new Chief Executive with full control at Ewood Park could have been brought in. He/She would only be answerable to the Venky's on the objectives they set him/her. eg. Finish mid-table or secure a wage reduction of 10% over twelve months etc. How the chief executive went about this would be up to him/her and the Board. So he/she would recommend a manager/assistant/players to the Board and deal with all contractual matters/agents etc. Venky's would gain from any objectives achieved by an increase in their brand. I suggest someone like Gordon Taylor ( his salary at PFA will surely not be too different from John Williams.

Erm, has Martinez really failed?

See the problem is that for a club of our size, with what is at best an average squad in the Premier League, two of the best qualified and experienced men in the footballing world for keeping this club up and then pushing it on up the league, have been dispensed with. How ironic. That if anyone could come in and rescue what is already a disaster of a season it is Sam Allardyce - the man that our great and enlightened owners ridiculously sacked. The man who is primarily responsible for the unfolding chaos at Ewood Park, Steve Kean, is the 'great thinker' who laughably was supposed to achieve more than Allardyce whilst playing better football.

Yet here lies the greatest mystery of the entire farce that has been Venky's ownership of Blackburn Rovers. They sack Sam Allardyce within 3 weeks of taking control of the club with the side sat comfortably in mid-table. This being a man who has earnt the right to be given time and funds to build a good side and be given an opportunity. Supporters were relatively happy, at least compared to now, and yet Venkys felt the need to get rid of Big Sam. Now they have a man who certainly has not earnt the right to be given more time. A man whose record as manager makes Paul Ince look like a good manager and who is universally unpopular across the football world. We have watched dross for almost a year under him. He has lied, time and time again and brought the club into disrepute. Nobody respects him except opposing managers who are grateful for a free 3 points every week.

Yet Venky's stick by him. Why? It cannot be football decisions in the same way it cannot have been a footballing decision to get rid of Allardyce and co. Darker forces are at work here, of which Kean is an integral part. That is why he cannot be sacked, because he has far more influence than we can possibly comprehend.

You're dead right in your analysis, Barnesy. I also agree that we need someone like Gordon Taylor, who knows the English game inside-out.

The only thing is I'm sure I read somewhere earlier this year that Taylor is the best-paid Trades Union General Secretary in the country [writing from memory, an annual salary of £600,000+ was quoted in the article I read]; and, while JW is now probably on more than he was at Ewood [again, if memory serves, the last figure I saw quoted in the press was just under £300,000], that means that there'd have to be a significant increase in what JW was getting at Ewood to make it even the slightest bit tempting to Taylor.

There is a very simple message coming over here.

The Venky's ownership has zero credibility and not a cat in hell's chance of beginning to rebuild from their catastrophically bad first year until Steve Kean is sacked and replaced by a seriously good and credible manager of unambiguous Premier League quality.
