So I decided to go tonight, mainly coz the kids were in bed early.

My intention was to go into the Blackburn End enclosure (JW Lower for modernisits) and wish I had after hearing Darwenfish's story.

However I bumped into a mate and ended up in the Blackburn End for the first time since the Riverside was re-built around 1990. Have to say it was very refreshing. The Riverside these days is inhabited by too many who have zero passion and who might as well be in the pay of the cowboys from India. Not all are like this but I was brought up in an era where winning was everything and it was accepted that there would be a certain amout of "letting off steam". It certainly wasn't rocking in the Bburn End but I felt happier there than in the Riverside I must say (pains me to say it).

Moving onto the attendance, there were 484 in the Riverside (yes I counted them). 427 in the Bburn End Enclosure and 289 in the Darwen End enclosure.

As for the game, I preface my views by saying that this game was irrelevant to the future battle to remove Kean and ultimately our lunatic owners.

Have to say I was proud of the players efforts. Watching the game from behind the goal gives a different impression and I have to say watching Samba made me realise what a player he is. He will definately be off soon and we will lose out best attacker as well as an outstanding defender. Barcodes did nothing in the forst half and Rovers could have led by more.

Not sure about the penalty claims they had as I was a long way away. Would say however that a PL referee would have sent off Collocini for an awful tackle.

Quite why we had 5 mins added on I don't know and we went well beyond that before they equalised.

Couldn't see how we would get goals in ET but we did somehow and deserved the win I thought.

As for individuals, the defenders were good. Petrovic was again poor. Rochina is a luxury but does have class. Goodwillie is unfit, as is Yakubu but he is 10 times better than Roberts.

Hoillet is very poor at times I think. Holds on to the ball too long and delivers poor passes. Offers no help whatsoever to the full-back.

Pedersons free kicks and corners were awful again (even the one he scored from).

The referee was a terrible chap who I hope meets some misfortune soon.

VENKYS GO HOME - Kean is an irrelevant puppet.

I was at the game and have got to post this as I was amazed at the time and want to see if I had gotten it wrong.

After Newcastle scored the second there were a few words from some of the younger lads (teenagers) to those on the Rovers bench and I was surprised to see our (new)assistant manager swearing at these kids and encouraging the steward to have them thrown out (thankfully they werent). The same thing happened when we scored the 4th goal and he stood posturing to these lads and again I saw him swearing. Now I was sat in the end seat at the back next to the 'dug out' and had a clear view of this going on. Im not sheltered enough to be shocked by bad language but I dont think it right that members of the clubs staff behave like this.

Anyone else see this?

As for the game, we won but I felt that the drama of the two late goals conceded and extra time etc could have been avoided had Keane used his subs better. We didnt shut the game out with 10 to go and the subs that were made seem to make us more vulnerable than solid?!

What a game!

When it went 2 - 2 I thought our heads would drop and we'd get battered in extra time.

How wrong was I! Jason Lowe played excellent again. Olsson, immense. And Givet, I hope he gets a new contract soon.

Tactics towards the end of normal time? I could see why he did them. Shore up the defence, go 5-4-1 and try and hold Newcastle for 15mins.

But their goal and free kick were almost world class. What Samba was doing all over the guy I'll never know. But fair play to the Geordies, they gave it a good do.

More of the same in the next few games? Let's hope

Spot on mate

MGP also did alot of work tonight & it was probably Petrovic's best game so far too.

The desire by our players to win that game was obvious. They give it everything, and Pedersen & Lowe where both grabbing their badges at the end....which was great to see.

Say what you want about Kean, but the players are still trying EVERYTHING possible for him....

I love rovers more and hate kean and venkys!!

How many games would you want us to lose? The dippers WONT sack the lune!' we need to start getting the odd win because that what keeps Us in touch!

Perfect World - Rovers Win, Kean is Sacked and Venky's sell to the Crown Prince of Saudi - Champions League. This world, Kean is still manager, Venkys still own us and Anderson still pulls the strings - Relegation.

I don't want us to lose any games and l don't want us to go down. The odd win is keeping us in touch of survival.

Someone else commented on that a few pages back. Shocking behaviour if true.

What a pleasure to be at Ewood tonight. Of course it's always good to send the Geordies home crying (shades of Graham Fenton tonight I thought) ... but the real joy was to be sat amongst the REAL Rovers SUPPORTERS ... People like 'our kid' who had driven 150miles after work to be there. No sign of 'whinging cry-baby dummy spitting ex-fans', or half-wits who boo because they feel affronted to get beat off an all conquering City ... and of course with the tremblers boycotting it just left the REAL SUPPORTERS. Long may it continue.

Since I've been on this site I've never made a personal comment but you're a complete twit!

Long, may what continue? Gates of less than 6000 home fans? I'm sure you'll get your wish next season in the championship!

Then again I'm not a 'real' fan because tonight I missed my 4th home game since 85!

If by some amazing set of circumstances we end up at Wembley, but are still deep in the mire in the league and Kean is somehow - probably purely on the strength of the cup run - still there...

Will those calling for a boycott of matches be trying for a cup final ticket?

Will those hoping for the club to lose matches be hoping for defeat against (say) Man City?

I know its hypothetical, but I'm with Abbey: never hope to lose.

Good win tonight and a hell of a game.

The atmosphere was shocking and I kind of felt sorry for the players and a bit embarrassed if I'm honest.

I also think tonight showed why roberts starts. Goodwillie and yakubu are awful. Yeah he's crap but those two are beyond that. We are desperate for a couple of strikers in jan. Deadballs or hoilett and olson are the only times we look like creating anything which is a massive concern.

It's laughable but you could see it happening...

But not bothered about seeing us win.

I never want us to lose but I've never felt like I do currently, can't help that.

People can call me what they like but I couldn't decide whether to go or not so thought I would decide on the day, today I thought I can go to Ewood or spend the night with my wife and son, I'm totally happy in my mind I made the right call.

It's plain as day we are in big trouble under Kean and you just know how much favour he will gain with the owners on the back of a quarter final place so a win tonight although a good result feels very bittersweet to me, if it was a league game I would feel totally different thoughas we desperately need every point we can get.

To actually answer the question though, if it was a reserve friendly and the highlights were on TV I'd want to watch them no matter the outcome so that really has no bearing.

At least they retain the ball, make runs and actually shoot though.....what does Roberts offer?

How many goals does he have so far this season again? His ratio of goals/ games for us must be terrible!

Also someone said that after the match Kean was outside the player's entrance p*ssing on a Rovers shirt. Did anyone else see this?

Go back and read my post and in particular the bit at the end "If True". Two diferent people have said it happened and if it turns out to be true then it is disgraceful behaviour by that member of staff.

Goodwillie must be the the premier leagues most UNstamima player in the league! Yakuba song feed the yak and he will score needs to be feed the yak and he will scoff ! I know he scored but he makes Benini look skinny

Yea ok abbey, I'm not a fan. You go on all the time about attacking the owners and what you would do to kean. Well ####### do something then. Mouth.

Zzzzzzzzz

Some people need to go to bed and sleep off tonight's win.

In the morning you'll be back to reality.

Answer the question 3 times of asking

I saw this kerfuffle in jw. Disgraceful reactions from supposed professionals to a bunch of kids really...

We aint gonna win this thing so part of me was hoping that a loss from a 2 goal lead might have some sort of impact on the owners. I fear this could be a bitter sweet win in theend. If this gets him 5 more games we're fecked.

Well I will return your first statement with an obvious adjustment ... part-timer.
