My 2 pennies.

Kean won't be sacked so hoping we lose makes no sense.

We have been playing better last couple of games, Clement to take credit?

Since Clement came in - the team pattern does look a lot better - and though not perfect we do look better organised defensively.

To be controversial - anyone that says Kean has lost the squad really needed to have been there last night - amazing effort by all the players. When Newcastle equalised I thought there would only be one winner in extra time - but great credit to the lads. There have also been question marks about fitness - again can't say we faded in anyway last night.

Newcastle had the majority of the possession (playing with the obvious confidence of a team on a long unbeaten run) - but every time we attacked I felt we could create something - whereas Newcastle - though they created some good chances - were nowhere near as incisive. Have to say we missed a trick not bidding for Ba - he looked a real handful last night.

Difficult to pick out players - but I thought Pederson put in another good performance in centre midfield - as did Petrovic, who actually looked a little fitter and more mobile than he has previously - by no means a brilliant performance but maybe there is hope for him after all. We desperately need Olsson back on the left wing (though he did ok at left back) - as the midfield looks a little one-paced (with exception of Hoilett). Rochina again flattered to deceive - though a little more movement off the ball by other players may help. Special word for Givet - deserved MOM - and I thought Lowe took another step forward in his impressive development.

Have we turned a corner - not so sure - though we deserved to win (just) - there were times in the match where the match could have turned against us. But you can't take away the fact that we beat a Newcastle team who were on a long unbeaten run - and more than held our own. Norwich next - a definite must not lose fixture. Kean is still hanging onto his job by his finger tips. Personally I hope we have turned a corner - though I fear it could be a death of a thousand cuts as we keep picking up the odd win to justify (to our owners ) keeping Kean in the job.

Not really. It was obvious from the Arsenal and Spurs games that he hasn't lost the squad or, at least, they are all trying their best and care.

I don't honestly recall anyone saying he's lost the squad tbh.

Not too sure which you watched last night but thought Pederson and Petrovic in particular were pants. :(

Thought Givet had a decent game by his standards but again the shining lights were the usual suspects Hoilett, Samba, Ollsen and Lowe.

Hey guys, great win tonight, great team spirit when the majority of th team were rightly knackered. I can`t blame Kean for tryign to see the game out and protect a few for Saturdays game, was just undone by 2 brilliant Barcode goals at the depth, otehrwise Kean nearly had it spot on and a clean sheet.

That aside, he won the game against an unbeaten barcodes sign, and through to the quarter finals - loved the match and the rollercoaster ride as when it went to extra time, I could only see Newcastle winning.

I did see one thing that concerned me more than anything, and that was Samba at the end of the match when he walked off, did anyone else see him ? He through his water battle down near Kean and didn`t look happy at all - he struggled to touch/shake hands with Kean, never looked at him and stormed past him down the tunnel - they didn`t look like they get along at all..........................

Was too busy celebrating. However, as it was Samba's needless foul that gave the free kick that led to Newcastle's equaliser he possibly got a word in his ear ... he certainly would have done if I was the Manager.

He may think he is protecting the younger players who were hearing this stuff. He worked at Chelsea for years, I don't think he is a mentalist.

Clement is not short and wasn't wearing a red coat so I don't think he was the perpetrator, although at one point he did send a withering look towards where the incident (which as I said I did not see) was alleged to have happened.

Conceding 6 goals in three games since he joined, yeah we are doing better defensively.

Ok - I'll point out one thing "though not perfect".

Also - 3 of those goals were unbelievable finishes (2 last night and VDV). Of those three matches - none were easy.

I am struggling to understand the expectations of the fans - yeh we can beat Tottenham and not concede - oh and we can easily beat one of the current form teams - and our away record has always been brilliant hasn't it <_<

I really can't be bothered going back to previous posts - but numerous people have claimed that Kean has lost the squad - and these "rumours" went back into last season. Only recently it was claimed that players were too scared to come forward.

At the time I did think that the Newcastle player was backing into Samba - I patiently waited for the BBC 5 second highlights - but they didn't show the foul - just the brilliant free kick that followed. BTW - did you think that their guy should have been sent off in the first half ? (again something they couldn't fit into the "highlights")

Where have you been for the last 10 years? This is what the 21st century Rovers do.

Good managers have helped us 'punch above our weight' for a long time post-Jack.

This trend has been bucked twice. Once under Ince, the other...

I agree we have punched above our weight for a long time - but I can't recollect Rovers being defensively brilliant for some time. I was always amazed how poor we were defensively under Sam - considering the great emphasis he put on this side of the game.

A competent manager.

Is it really that much to ask for?

No - I agree Kean is struggling.

A balanced argument leaving to one side the current feelings towards our manager - definitely too much to ask for !

Taking any feelings whatsoever towards Kean, his record is absolutely horrendous and under him, we appear dead certs for relegation this season.

This is my gripe and until the situation is addressed, things won't get better at Ewood.

I know which game I watched last night and it wasn't this one. Pedersen was excellent in centre midfield and Petrovic not far behind him, getting better every game. His pass to Rochina made the second goal. After the first few minutes Hoilett disappeared again, making the odd promising run only to make the wrong final choice and providing little support to Olsson defensively. It was hardly surprising when he was substituted near the end, as he was heading for either completely missing a challenge or making a lunge for a second yellow card. Cabaye's equalising goal was Samba'a fault for a pointless foul in the 95th minute, although he made up for it later with his part in the winning goal. But Givet and Lowe were head and shoulders Rovers best players on the night. Lowe completely shut out Santon and Gutierrez. He had a bit of a wobble when Sam Ameobi came on but quickly came to terms with him.

For once you can't blame Kean's substitutions. We were under pressure but not really looking like creaking until two defensive mistakes (standing off Guthrie and Samba's needless foul) led to two great finishes.

I'd echo Ewood Spark's comments about what a joy the atmosphere was last night. I was in the Jack Walker as is my wont for cup games when the prices are the same and was surrounded by people enjoying the game. There weren't many on the Blackburn end but they all seemed to be having a damn good time, which can't be said about the league games when I've been on there lately.

Some of you are as deluded as Kean himself.

One flukey win and suddenly people want to take the moral high-ground and pretend they're super-fans because 'they were there the day Steve Kean won a football match'.

A win for Rovers is a win for Kean & Venky's, it's not a win for the fans who are supporting a sinking ship. It's the law of averages that Kean will pick up the odd win here and there. We know for a fact that relegation is an inevitablity under this guy, therefore any result that applies extra pressure to his position and tenure as manager can only be a good thing.

That's such a ridiculously stupid post.

I want Steve Kean to leave this club, but I can't understand why anyone would not go and support the team and why they would want us to lose. Not showing up just makes this club look like a joke

We are in agreement over wanting Steve Kean to leave the club

But to help you understand, I was one of the thousands who boycotted last night and i'm glad that the media have picked up on it.

The Venkys have already made our club look like a joke by:

- getting rid of all our best backroom staff

- sacking big sam

- appointing Kean (novice, SEM employee, talks nonsense)

- shouting in the media about Ronaldihno, Beckam etc

- saying we could be playing in Europe

- the chicken advert

- dragging us to India to play a pub team

- appointing/sacking John Jensen

- the transfer window shambles

- not sacking Kean "he's brilliant", new contract?

How much more of a joke do you want us to be?

Not going last night was a small way that we can show our feelings towards the owners.

For what its worth im gutted at missing the team playing well, but that doesn't balance out not wanting to give the owners any more of my cash until they sort things out.

What on earth are you talking about? A win for Kean and Venky's??? Grow up. Rovers won a football match, therefore its a good thing. If you care more about Kean than Rovers then that's your problem. I want Kean to go as much as anyone but Im not going to WANT the team to lose. If we lose to Norwich then yesterday's result will be irrelevant and nobody is saying otherwise. If you hate Kean more than you support Rovers then you might want to get your priorities sorted out.

Just because fans went last night doesn't mean they dont know how bad Venkys are. They went because they support the football club regardless of Venkys/Kean. EVERYONE knows that Venky's have screwed up, EVERY FAN knows that Kean isn't the right man, but that doesn't mean you should refuse to support the team/hope that we lose every week until Kean gets fired. Its pathetic in my opinion that there are fans who get angry when we win.

I don't usually get involved in this "I'm a better fan than you because..." nonsense but this really is a bizarre statement. All I will say is that it's extremely sad that things have come to this where fans think that the team winning is a BAD THING  Sounds almost McCarthyite in thinking. And to take your argument to it's logical conclusion, surely you think relegation is a GOOD THING because it will mean Kean is removed for sure? Where does it end?

I went to the game last night and I was delighted that Rovers won. And I'll be delighted if they win on Saturday too. Doesn't make me think Kean is the right manager, and doesn't make me want him removed any less than any of you.

The Newcastle game was a bit of an irrelevance. I don't think we'll get to the final ( I'd love to be proved wrong )

If our manager starts telling us this is the beginning of a new dawn I'll choke on my porridge. The next league games against Norwich, Wigan & Stoke ( I'll miss out Chelsea as there'll be no disgrace in losing to them )will decide our future in the top flight of English football. If Mr Kean is our manager and we lose these then we're as good as gone.

The blame will lie 100% with our owners for making the decisions they have. It's not the fans' fault !!!

If we win these games ( and I hope we do ) I will be prepared to give our manager more time.

I think that's a fair reaction? Time's running out. I guess many on here think it's already too late.

I can understand people saying get behind the team but personally I wouldn't get on an aeroplane if I thought the pilot couldn't fly it. So far our pilot, with no previous experience, has taxied down a very long runway but hasn't shown any ability to get off the ground..

Well played.

Can't say I'm disappointed to go out, like! Reckon we'll get done at Stoke on Monday though. :(

Well played to yourself as well. You boys just don't seem to know when your beaten and its a real credit to you guys. As soon as you forced extra time, with one hell of a free kick, i thought we were done for.

Stoke are a decent team. Be tough a game for you. Good luck.
