Grez
Hypothetically speaking. If you wanted someone to leave without having to pay them off, what would you do? Maybe refuse to employ someone they identify, or get rid of someone that works for them that you do not believe is performing. It then leaves the person with a choice - have a moral stance and leave or get on with it. Most people would leave and a compromise would be reached to ease the way. But that's all hypothetical and would never happen in the world of football...

PAFELL
Bizzarely today's presser was cancelled so this could fit. If Clement is appointed then that would a Kean appointment as he wants him and would mean no sacking imminent. Having said I am told nothing imminent. I thnk Kean is a gonner. I suggest clement would become the new coach. Maybe kean was offered a step down, but refused. Ironically O'neil considering managing again. Kean very very quiet this week. martonrover
Why does he need the paul agnew there for??? Surely he has a deputy for ffs who can do PA job!!! Kean will be sacked in the near future, don't really see the point in appointing a new number 2. might aswell wait for the new manager to come in and let him appoint his own number 2 tbf! Agnew obviously operates Kean like a ventriloquist's dummy

Emge
Gutted if this is true. With the assistant manager-job available it would have been a perfect time to sack Kean as well. But this will only make things even more difficult!! Thanks for nothing Venkys!!
Paul
There is an alternative view to this. Perhaps Venky's have identified a new manager. Said new manager happens to have indicated who would like to bring Paul Clement in, who just happens to be Steve Kean's choice as well. SK gets two matches to turn it around but if he fails the new manager already has the man he wants in place.......................at no risk to Venky's however the situation resolves itself. I'm getting good at conspiracy theory................................................ On the other hand I share the common view this could mean Kean is here to stay

martonrover
I just hope it doesnt happen before Saturday. If we win we'll be stuck with Kean anyway, if not then maybe he'll go before the appointment is made. If he does come Clement must be desparate for the money as why else would you want to walk into this?

rickard
If this will lead up that Kean is staying this means we will end up with no actual manager employed. A former assistant manager as "manager" and a former first-team coach as assistant manager... That's just great.
chaddyrovers
The bottom line is that Kean presser was cancelled today because Paul Agnew was not there. Clement still has a couple of issues to sort out contract wise Ewood park will never be the same with RIP JACK Walker we want rovers backs and venkys have took the mick out of us and etc. Looks like you were wrong about why the press conference was cancelled. Martin Blackburn of the Sun Newspaper says Kean had toothache and was of to the dentist!!! Also said New coach spotted taking training at Blackburn today, so Could be Clement like you said!!! https://twitter.com/#!/SunMartinB
Hughesy
He will be on a 1 month trial to start - Cant fire Kean and have nobody to keep the lads going in training can you
FourLaneBlue
Kean ain't getting fired anytime soon. I think we all secretly know that. It's that feeling in the gut that we are all trying to ignore.
joey_big_nose
He will be on a 1 month trial to start - Cant fire Kean and have nobody to keep the lads going in training can you A lot of strength in this. We can't fire Kean at the moment because we need someone to take the reins and we haven't got anyone. So getting a quality assistant in is the logical next step. We can live in hope. Mercer
A huge setback if true. If Kean is fired, you'd like to think the homework is already done, someone is appointed immediately and Clement has no role in a 'holding' capacity. Absolutely diabolical, if true. Quality assistant? Looking at his cv he has never been an assistant manager before at senior level (under 21's assistant at Ireland doesn't really count). He also has ties to Kean at Fulham, how did that work out? Venky's stupidity continues to show. What was the sensible move during the two week international break? Easy, sack the manager and let the new guy bring in their own staff. Instead they keep the inept one in charge and bring in a youth team coach as his assistant. Mrs D, Balaji and Venkatesh you are geniuses!

Hi Mack
The problem is if we sack Kean we have to pay him out.... And then theres the money we have to pay to "buy his silence" I just wonder....Say we lose the next 5 games, heavily. are Venkys going to act? im not 100% sure. Let's say it costs £2m to pay off Kean. The cost of relegation is around £50m. It's a no-brainer, you pay the £2m.

47er
''The new Assistant will be Paul Clement'' - is this for real? how reliable is the info? Clements name has been around for a while. Another spin could be that Kean's presser was cancelled with the excuse that Agnew was not there as Kean's about to get the bullet. He's been a bit quiet this week........................... It must be several days now since Kean told us he had the absolute,100% backing of the owners. Is this significant?
Kamy100
If Clement is appointed (Martin Blackburn is very well connected so his info is likely to be right) then I can't see Kean being sacked. Even before JJ was sacked, Kean had identified Clement as his replacement.
