Roberts: 'I've been in football a long time, it's unusual to have owners who can talk about football'

Let's look over your career Jase: Dave Whelan at Wigan, Peace at West Brom and Jack Hayward at Wolves.

Yeah, proper footy ignoramuses them!

Stop insulting our intelligence!

Mistakenly put my contribution on the wrong thread! I was also annoyed at the 98% reference.

The other interesting point was that the BBC Commentator put the family's wealth at 2 billion pounds! We really have no idea whether they are that wealthy or not do we? I keep seeing this figure of 120M profit for the year. If true though I really think they need to spend more of it.

well they must have spent about 60 million in the last year on Blackburn, so hopefully they will spend another 60 million next year B)

without Kean.

Also why do people (including the BBC) call them "The Venky's". Venky's is a brand name, Rao is the family name it's like referring to the Branson family as "The Virgins".

Oh and and for the worth, I still can't get my head around their net worth. Out in India we saw brands heavily promoted that have never been mentioned over here (Venncobb, Venky's Frozen Foods, NECC, Uttara Feeds, Bromark, Bala Entertainment etc) and came across more (Venky's Rock ... a wine company !).

The most telling part of the interview is where they say about Kean 'Ready to mold himself and change himself', so he is a YES man... will not ever talk back even if he thinks it might not be right. I also can't believe people can't see the wider comparison with what's happening to us and what's happening in society... we've basically suffered a corporate coup, all things that belong to the people are passed into business hands.

It's actually worse than that Matty, they actually DON'T KNOW AT ALL, that is why they ASK about it, they are learning on the job, fine in the Conference or Div 3 even, but the PL? FFS !!

Blackburn co-owner Venkatesh Rao tells Football Focus that manager Steve Kean has "101%" support to pull the club from the depths of the Premier League after their poor start to the season.

Rao, whose multinational firm own 198 companies including poultry producers Venky's and Rovers, says good results will keep the Ewood Park fans happy and describes it as a dream come true to own such a "prestigious" club as Blackburn.

The Indian businessman says the club is already becoming a big name in his homeland and maintains that it is his family's mission to uphold the legacy of former Rovers owner Jack Walker

Sorry Glen /Tim etc, but this only made it more clear of what everybody knows and that they don't have a clue.

I am aware that it could be the interview was done before you had your way with them but if this was post 'meeting' then its evidently clear what you and the rest of the 9 channelled their way has not hit home.

And I still have not had an answer of whether it was drummed home to them that Keans tenure is no longer tenable and he must be removed immediately.

No more time, no more games (what's the point it doesn't matter anymore) he has to go .. simple. :wstu:

It was 2 days before our meeting.

There was little need to drum home how the fans feelings on Kean, the second it was brought up, they showed they knew the strength of feeling (and the precise details of our own poll) far more accurately that I ever expected. In both meetings they made it clear that nobody is irreplaceable if they didn't deliver the goods (or the points in his case) although in Kean's case they obviously didn't give specific points/dates targets.

Were there any financial based questions posed about rovers?

IE will they still publish accounts and so on.

In yet they still see fit to make ridiculous claims about 1% and a few people generating thousands of emails.

I agree (although that was the day before the meeting). I also no longer trust anything I don't see coming directly out of their mouths (and even then I'm suspicious of dubious editing).

... either way, it's a enormousness PR snafu if somebody in authority manages to say something everyone can tear down as factually incorrect.

You tease.

Cheers.

I was there. I don't remember the exact words, but the sentiment was as long the line of, uh? of course, we have to don't we?

If you PM Tris he may have a clearer recollection (it was his question and it was over a week ago now, my mind fades fast).

glenn, did they mention at all about wether they were discussing names in case they gave him the boot?

In a meeting not everyone was at, one name was mentioned in passing, but I assumed it to be an off-the-cuff comment about the level of manager they thought they could attract, so I'll not mention it for fear of it appearing in tomorrows Sun as "Pune 9 leaked confirmation of next Rovers manager" or some other nonsense.

So. No. No names I took seriously anyway. Obviously if it later turns out to be correct, I'll proclaim myself of Lord of the ITKers telling you all I knew it all along ;)
