benhben Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Anyone into their photography on here? Im thinking of getting one of the small compact cameras with interchangeable lenses. Probably going to go for the Olympus E-PL1. What I want to know is what do the different lens sizes do? The main lenses available seem to be: pancake lens 14-42mm 40-150mm What do these lenses do? Does the 150mm have larger zoom or better for close ups, or nothing to do with zoom? Cheers, Ben

Iceman Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Hello Ben Perhaps this could give you an idea of what to look out for http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/camera-lenses.htm Good Luck
colin Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Ben, The strange thing about photograhy is that it now a mix of science and art. You can have the best camera in the world and have the best digital software to adjust the photos you take. But you need to have an eye for a decent photograph. If you take a poor or boring photo, all the technoligy in the wold will not make it interesting. Cheers Colin
