rovgers Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Mr 786, apologies, but I've been wondering for a while - is English your first language? I only ask cos I haven't been able to understand anything you've posted so far. I thought that or if he had dyslexia.

That's nothing compared to this gem: “We’re taking care of all the gentle moments and we just want to make minor changes for the management. Otherwise we are going to run the club as it is and as it was.” Gentle moments? We're going to run the club as it is and as it was ? ................What's that mean?

AggyBlue Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 why is everything designed to assist him, when he is the bloody problem for christ sake It's absolutely baffling Just get shut of the faker
Stuart Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Daily Mirror article talking about rovers bringing in a DoF http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Blackburn-consider-hiring-experienced-manager-as-director-of-football-to-help-Steve-Kean-article815016.html I'm mindful of Glenn's comments about being careful what to believe but I think we are very quickly going to go from protests against Kean to protests against Venkys. There are some many head shaking statements in that article it 's untrue but... gentle moments? WTF?? I also note with some irony the fact that's it's written by a Mr. Anderson...
gumboots Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I'm mindful of Glenn's comments about being careful what to believe but I think we are very quickly going to go from protests against Kean to protests against Venkys. There are some many head shaking statements in that article it 's untrue but... gentle moments? WTF?? I also note with some irony the fact that's it's written by a Mr. Anderson... I don't think there will be many gentle moments on Sunday. When mild mannered fans who have supported the club for donkeys years are so wound up that they are talking about protests and boycotts, they should surely see that continuing blithely on the course they have so far chosen is likely to lead to even fewer "gentle moments". There is an answer - SACK KEAN AND DO IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - YESTERDAY, IF YOU CAN If you want to see what a change of manager can do - look no further than last night's game between Forest and Middlesbrough.
John Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Don't know if any of us should be surprised but those comments in that article are insane. They truly are thick planks.

In all this - I think we have to remember that English isn't their first language - and the way they phrase things is a little unusual and open to interpretation (with English press not a good thing). Maybe gentle moments - they have learnt lessons from the past and they will now try a more steady approach. Would be sensible - if not for the fact they need to make a major change to the manager first - then steady the ship.
Mattyblue Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 'We had a long discussion last week with Steve and the players, added Venkatesh Rao. Theyre all very positive and now were waiting for the next matches. The results will automatically change' Well that is a relief!
philipl Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Another day, another morning with nothing in the national press. I think there is something in all the stories about Smith, Ancelotti, Hughes, O'Neill etc. but none of them are happening for now. Smith might happen but as I wrote yesterday, so what?

I think the mirror has something about appointing a DOF philip, not seen it myself though.
Hughesy Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 No matter who the owners are or the manager. If you are in the position where you are able to have a season ticket. A supporter should NEVER RETURN THEIR SEASON TICKET. You support the TEAM no matter what. Not being able to get up to see Rovers that often, it sadens me when I hear about supporters boycotting matches, returning season tickets etc. Protest, yes when needing too. But support the team. Spot on. Attend no matter what. Dont harm the club further, just support the team. Love Rovers, Hate Kean.

Hughesy Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Id much rather see any 1 of Ancelotti, Hughes, Rafa or O'Neill as DOF over Walter Smith....whether any of them are realistic or not, im not sure.
Mattyblue Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Why on earth would those names come to the farce that is BRFC? Ancelloti/O'Neill et al working with Steve Kean? Do me a favour!
Hughesy Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Why on earth would those names come to the farce that is BRFC? Ancelloti/O'Neill et al working with Steve Kean? Do me a favour! Money talks It's still one of 20 clubs in the best league in the WORLD. Don't under-estimate the pull
Parsonblue Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Money talks It's still one of 20 clubs in the best league in the WORLD. Don't under-estimate the pull I agree about the League but unfortunately the owners are a major problem. The summer illustrated that there is not that much money available and in January we don't have a Phil Jones to sell to raise funds. The fact that the owners continue to support Kean, despite his appalling record, shows how little they understand about how quickly a team can be cut adrift in this League. I suspect that the prospect of working with owners who seem to be stumbling from one crisis to another is not going to be attractive to many established managers. Certainly, one wouldn't have thought that the prospect of providing cover for Kean as a Director of Football would appeal to anybody. I can fully understand why Venky's want to keep Kean. At the moment he is the perfect shield for the owners. All the stick is going in his direction rather than the people who appointed him and who have continued to support him.
Kamy100 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 The latest rumour that I have heard (and I don't know if it is true yet) is that both Hughes and O'Neil representatives were approached by Rovers representatives during the international break, they were asked if either of them were interested in joining Rovers as Director of Football, with Kean being made Head Coach. Both of them turned this down, if they were to even consider Rovers it would ONLY be as manager. I am not sure about the Walter Smith story, his representatives are adament that there have been no talks with Rovers, but if the above rumour is true then a approach for Walter Smith could've been made once Messers Hughes and O'Neil had turned Rovers down. What is starting to become abundently clear is that Steve Kean is not going to be sacked anytime soon, it seems Rovers are doing all manner of things to keep Kean employed at the club, again on face value I don't think that the protests/planned protests are having any impact on Venky's decision making process. However, it is important for those fans who want to protest to continue to do so. From a personal point of view, I find it alarming that Steve Kean continues as manager, if he remains for another month and Rovers continue not to pick up results then relegation situation may become almost irretrievable.

Silver lining to all this - they obviously recognise that there is a problem - just don't get their loyalty to Kean in all this. Personally would demote him to head of global youth development (i.e. Blackburn and India) - to be honest the only part of his tenure so far that has been positive has been his support and bringing through of youth team players.
Mattyblue Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 The real story is WHY are the owners going to such lengths to keep him employed?
beatrix Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 A director of football always seems to be doomed to fail ultimately , think Dalglish,Pleat etc. What we so obviously need is a proper experienced PL manager to replace Kean to guide us to mid table by the end of the season. Whilst the owners are messing about with DOF, keeping Kean we have our eyes off the ball. We need to get as many points as we can coming up to christmas which is always a critical yardstick in any season. With 5 points to date we are badly behind the game. Somebody needs to impress upon the owners how critical the situation is.They are obviously misunderstanding the plight we are in.
Backroom DE. Posted October 19, 2011 Backroom Posted October 19, 2011 I think all Rovers fans should be deeply concerned that Venky's are going to these lengths to keep Kean in charge. There's something very disturbing about the whole situation.
