Why on earth would those names come to the farce that is BRFC?

Ancelloti/O'Neill et al working with Steve Kean? Do me a favour!

Nail hit on head.

Nobody with an ounce of intelligence/integrity/sense of self preservation is going anywhere near Rovers whilst Kean is polluting the place.

I can't understand why many on here seem to think Walter Smith would be a good choice. His best days, such as they were, are over. He wasn't particularly successful at Everton - ask their fans - and let's be honest any manager, with the probable exception of Mr Kean, would lead Rangers to first or second place in the Scottish Premier League.

The idea of a Director of Football is pretty horrific as it means Mr Kean will be staying for the short/medium/long term ( take your pick from 3 nasty scenarios )

The latest rumour that I have heard (and I don't know if it is true yet) is that both Hughes and O'Neil representatives were approached by Rovers representatives during the international break, they were asked if either of them were interested in joining Rovers as Director of Football, with Kean being made Head Coach. Both of them turned this down, if they were to even consider Rovers it would ONLY be as manager.

I am not sure about the Walter Smith story, his representatives are adament that there have been no talks with Rovers, but if the above rumour is true then a approach for Walter Smith could've been made once Messers Hughes and O'Neil had turned Rovers down.

What is starting to become abundently clear is that Steve Kean is not going to be sacked anytime soon, it seems Rovers are doing all manner of things to keep Kean employed at the club, again on face value I don't think that the protests/planned protests are having any impact on Venky's decision making process. However, it is important for those fans who want to protest to continue to do so.

From a personal point of view, I find it alarming that Steve Kean continues as manager, if he remains for another month and Rovers continue not to pick up results then relegation situation may become almost irretrievable.

Depressing news and its more important than ever that protest continue

How stupid of the Raos to think that the likes of Hughes and O'Neill would work with Kean or indeed the Raos.

The real story is WHY are the owners going to such lengths to keep him employed?

The longer Steve Kean remains employed the more inclined I am to believe some of the stuff that I have been told about the reasons why the owners will not/cannot sack him. I cannot divluge this for the simple reason there is no proof to back up these claims. Although I know of at least 2 national journos who have been actively working on this story over the last few weeks.

It has been mentioned on here that the owners would like to sack Kean. But he refused to sign a document preventing him talking about the owners etc. The owners want to buy his silence, but he refused.

I really hope that those jounos get to the ''bottom'' of the Rao/Kean lovefest and print it all - warts and all.

If Kean is such a good manager then why does he need a DoF to help him for????

The problem is that Kean isn't up to doing the Manager Job!!! The owners must realise this and act now before we are adrift at the Bottom of the League!!! If we are adrift at the bottom of the league then it will be hard to attract a Ancelotti/O'Neill/Hughes to the club!!!

We need a Hughes or O'Neill to come to rovers and save us from going down to the Championship because that is where we are heading for with Kean in charge!!!

I would imagine Rovers have probably burned their bridges with O'Neill and Hughes after making them such a stupid offer. They are both quality managers and want to continue to be managers, not operate in some sort of desk job role.

Let's hope these national journos 'find the truth' about why Kean is still here, it might be the only way to force pressure on the owners to do the right thing.

Id go as far as to say that the approach, if ones been made, is insulting to the managers in question. Theyre both very good managers in their own right, to ask them to play second fiddle to a coach is nothing short of disgusting in my eyes.

I guess any chance of getting either man in, once Kean is sacked, has taken a backward step if this has happened

I agree about this Kean stuff. It is disturbing that he seems unsackable and I wonder why. I am now at a point where I am thinking that it cant be just that he has a good relationship. There is something fishy going on.

Maybe he was linked somehow to venkys buying the club in the first place. I wonder why or how kean was brought to the club in the first place. Worse signing Sam ever brought to rovers

sorry my English is not great at times, I was saying the mirror has picked up the story but said a experience manager there have lined up blackburn its Walter smith.

does anybody at Boardroom level want rid of Kean???

I believe that a character like Smith would want final say on team selection. Kean's massive ego would veto that. Therefore it would be a pointless appointment apart from giving Kean a further layer of protection.

Unless Smith took the DoF just for a final payday as he has realised that the Raos are numptys and are there for the taking.

Smith, Kean and Clement - 2 of whom are/have been out of work/retired and a clueless idiot. Our Owners really do aim high.

What a total mess up.

You could still post and say 'iv heard' and I 'dont know if its true'.

No point posting the above otherwise! Not in such desperate times....you never know your 'dont know if its true' post could upset even more fans and get them to kick off on Sunday when the owners are in town to witness it all.

Has he still not been sacked?!

You wouldn't let a trolley dolly fly an airplane, would you?

Kean is the Rovers equivalent - I'm sure he's perfectly capable of doing a certain functional job, but he's no manager and we will suffer for as long as he's here.

This is 1 proper random rumour. Has this been in any papers with Walter smith being linked or websites?

I was just about to post the same.

Everyone is talking like Walter Smith has taken up the DOF role already. I'm fairly sure Andy Cryer or Alan Nixon would be all over this if it was going to happen.

I think if Kamy's "don't know if it's true" post is posted, then l can imagine Steve Kean will have to stay away from Ewood on Sunday for his own safety.
