Waggy76 Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 One of Kean's big weaknesses is his p1ss poor dealings in the market. 10 summere signings: Two started today Five on the bench One presumably injured Two nowhere (Anderson & Ribeiro). This tells me his 'inherited' players are better than his cheap and nasty imports. Got it in one there !!! If Dunn was fit he would be playing and the same for Nelsen

bazza Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Thought Lowe played really well! Glad someone other than me thinks the same. In fact my MOM
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 I never comment on this sort of stuff, but football gossip is rife and more reliable amongst the people that work within the industry. Wish I'd kept my gob shut now. Thanks for the info - take the negativity with a pinch of salt.
den Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 1] Sam needed to go. 2] The football was crap and increasingly ineffectual. 3] The problem is that he was replaced by a rank amateur. 1] Obviously looking at where we are since sacking him, he didn't need to go. 2] It was as good as it could be with the players Ince had left him. 3] Kean only got the opportunity because someone else in a far higher position than the Sam haters in the stands, agreed with them [wrongly as we can now see]. They decided that we could play Arsenal type football with a poor squad of players.

BigDom Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Played better than we did againt Citeh but still no creativity, with only long ball and set pieces offering any hope (Sam must be pissing his sides when he watches Match of the Day) KEAN OUT
LDRover Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 We played okay today but Robbo made 3 world class saves to keep us in it. In short, Spurs were better than us, created the better chances, had better quality possession and deserved the win. The fact that we only lost by one goal, had a few scrambles in their box and won a few tackles should not detract from the fact we lost. Again. KEAN OUT NOW.
JAL Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Despite the players putting in a shift against a tired Spurs team, sadly we didnt have the quality and knowhow to beat our opponents today. Thought Hoilet was disappointing second half.

grizfoot Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 The depressing thing was that today was probably our best performance of the season yet we still managed to lose. Nzonzi was superb in central midfield though, he dominated that area up against Parker & Modric, fair credit to Pedersen also who had his best game in a while. Hard to really call any of the players up on their performances. We just didn't make the best of the chances we had, and it took a world-class strike to beat us. Problem is these sort of performances are a seemingly a rarity, if we play like that against Norwich next week we should win, but we probably won't.

Even after all the money that has been spent by Kean I am not sure the team has improved at all. Yak and Roberts are a shocking and no where near EPL standard.
JAL Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Bob on, on all your facts JAL, on Hoilet, they did a job on him in the 2nd half. The over riding criticism of Junior today has to be that when he got the ball, he turned, he jinked, and ran with the ball, but in the end he offered no end product for the team whatsoever wether it be in a through ball or shot at goal. Thought Givet looked better than Dann and Pederson looked better than Petrovic so much for Steve Keans exciting summer transfer deals.

A poor team playing well and losing is the depressing flipside of a good team playing poorly and winning, i.e. doesn't bode well.

I agree, a sure sign of the teams that go down. Wigan played well yesterday also but still got beat by a team who played below par.
redroses Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 someone please tell me that Kean wasn't giving out autographs in the dugout to delirious fans prior to kick off? My only explanation was someone offering pieces of paper to him with tactics on instead?
Brfcrule1 Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Mercerman sums it up perfectly 10 summer signings 2 played 5 were benched 1 was injured and 2 were not even in the 16. It seems our summer business consisted of bulking out the squad but ignoring the 1st team. Even more bemusing Anderson & Ribeiro nowhere near the bench I thought Anderson was the new Chris Smalling so what happened? That guy is a million miles away from being anywhere near the next Smalling.

Neal Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Now i've calmed down.... Has anyone heard if Kean's position at the club is being reviewed?... God help us if not. It appears the media is starting to sympethise with us.
Amo Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 It appears the media is starting to sympethise with us. Are they? The protests are makin' a martyr out of Kean. The media are still making excuses for him, because we're a small-time club and no one gives a crap what happens to us. Even Knapsack was fighting his corner and making out like the protesters are a bunch of crazed locals.
Backroom Tom Posted October 23, 2011 Backroom Posted October 23, 2011 A point about Nzonzi, he really needs to learn to stop kicking the ball away, he does it nearly every game.
Mercer Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Although a better performance today, the highlights on MOD suggests that many of us are in danger of being brainwashed by Kean without knowing it. We were some way of a point. Could have been all over at half time.

The fact that we are bottom of the league with an idiot in charge has nothing to do with the previous need for Allardyce to go. The attitude that it's Sam or nothing baffles me. That he should have been replaced by a proper manager is perhaps self-evident by now, yet he still needed replaced as far I'm concerned. In addition, the football became increasingly bad and ineffective long after Sam took over. The downward spiral in that respect had nothing to do with Ince. That said, the chronic lack of investment in the team that Allardyce had to deal with is of course a major factor when assessing the strengths and weaknesses of his tactics.

It was a choice the owners made--a very bad one. There was no large desire among the fans for him to go but there was a significant minority who wanted him out before he even came. The football had not become increasingly bad nor ineffective. How can you say that? We had finished 10th the season before --from being relegation favourites and would have finished similarly. Given the squad he inherited and the absence of a transfer backing---what more could you reasonably expect?
