None.

All of them are either too old or simply not good enough anymore...a damning indictment on the overall strength and quality of our side.

To be honest i expected many more comments like this....And I agree. It just worries me losing all that experience at once.

In a way I agree, it is a bit worrying... but at the same time, are those players going to keep us up, experience or not? Givet and Dunn have a role to play (the latter only if he can stay fit), the rest are useless to our predicament and may as well not be here (referring to contracts running out in 2012).

To be fair Salgado, Nelsen and Givet have all performed well under at least one previous manager and Nelsen has only really become injury prone under the great leadership of the untouchable one.

Dunn and Grella have always been injury prone.. they should go and should never of been signed.

Roberts and Andrew where never good enough for the Rovers shirts.

Says allot though when you are talking about pretty much removing 90% of the experience at Rovers and most people being happy to see it happen... *sigh*

Would love to know how many of these people would say the same about Emerton, Kalinic and Diouf the players disposed of by the club.

I sometimes wonder if I watch the same games as you lot. Givet is better than Dann, Hanley, Nelson, by far, imo. I'd rather any 2 out of those 3 where sold rather than Gael.

Givet is immense at CB but found wanting at LB. If we played Givet at CB week in week out he would soon win over his doubters.

Givet is the only one for me, not that I think he will.

Must be around 200k pw in OP list. Can do better for half the cost.

Cannot believe Dunn has been given a two year deal, for the obvious reasons, he must be so far up Keans backside it's a wonder he makes it out for match days.

Nelsen, Dunn and Grella too injury prone. Dunny and possibly Nelsen to Brockhall.

Givet - sell or let contract run out, NEVER been good enough for prem!

Salgado - with his consent, send doing his badges, has pedigree to be a decent manager.

Roberts - He is the best of the worst set of strikers I can remember (John O'Mara excluded).

Andrews - arguably better, less injury prone, quicker and more effective than our current selection. (ironicaly couldn't wait to get shut of him 10 months ago).

Are you for real ? Givet has been one of our best defenders ever since he arrived. Releasing him would make no sense.

Would like to see Nelsen and Salgado stay at the club in a coaching capacity with an eye on them as future managers. Both are intelligent men with an apparent affection for the club.

The rest can go.

Agree about Salgado's qualities but he is extremely angry with his treatment by Kean, the board and Venky's. I'd be amazed if he has anything more to do with the club.

Givet on current performances is worth at least another year.

As for the rest then good riddance including Nelsen - don't buy any of this, IMO, sentimental clap-trap about Nelsen who made noises when Sam was sacked then signed a new contract and has seemingly been silent until perhaps recently which is too little, too late.

As far supoosedly offering Dunn a new 2 year contract, IMO, a joke. Exactly what happened last Jan. with Sally, JR & Nellie and now they are training with the ressies and we are struggling to get rid. I could be cynical here but interesting that Dunny seems to have found a bit more form over the last two matches - hmmm.

Guest Rovers4Good

Vince Grella (Expires summer 2012) No Chance

David Dunn (Expires summer 2012) Yes but half his wages

Michel Salgado (Expires summer 2012) No but if he gets his coaching badges i'd offer him a coaching role

Jason Roberts (Expires summer 2012) Yes, Rate him more than Penguin foot Goodwillie

Ryan Nelsen (Contract till 2013)No Chance but it looks like Kean will offer him a coaching role as he's currently doing his badges and has been put under the wing of Gary Bowyer.

Gael Givet 2013 Yes, he's done a hald decent job at centre back but defo not a full back.

Keith Andrews - 2013 Damn right, he's got a far better engine than Dunny and prefer him to Petrovic.

Dunn to sign a new 2 year deal according to the Daily Mail

My link

This has nothing to do with them being drinking buddies does it?

is this a joke?!

It wasn't at the time, look at the date it was posted. IMO he was surplus at that time. He has made a huge improvement since that date. Reminds me a little of Hendry now, blood n guts CH.

My opinion now, he is one of our most valuable players when he's played at CH. I do not feel confident when he's moved to LB. Hope that clarifies my current view.

As I have just replied to Roversnick, IMO he was our 3rd choice CH when Nelsen and Samba were fit. He looked like he was playing in their shadow. Now he's 1st choice he has made huge steps forward and would put him alongside either of the others in quality. Cast your mind back! I would certainly give him a new contract now.

A classic case of thread necromancy. You will find threads 4 years ago when Pedersen was a decent player as well.

At the time Givet was playing as a left back and wasn't playing that great, there was talk of him being homesick and his contract dispute with the club was still fresh in people's minds. I am not surprised that most people at the time thought that giving Givet a new contract wasn't worth it.

My stance 96 days ago:

None of them would be getting new contracts.

On reflection Givet is probably the only one I would look to give a new deal to. Dunny, Roberts, Salgado, Grella and Nelsen shouldn't be getting new deals imo.

Its surely no coincidence that Dunns improved performances are linked to his hunger for a new contract, same with MGP last time around. Once the deal is signed they'll return to their inconsistent best, the life of a professional football eh ;)

Offer Dunn a pay as you play deal, he could just about cut it in next seasons championship.

Hope we don't give Dunn a new deal. IF we do then it has to be massively reduced and also performance related pay surely.

This summer represents a big chance to shift deadwood with Grella, Roberts and Salgado out of contract.

We are talking about 'new Rovers' here and, IMO, not many spare brain cells about !!!

Even if Dunn can't make 90 minutes any more he's still well worth another contract IMO. There's not a chance we would have played as well as we did with 10 men against Fulham if he wasn't in the side, he was good against Everton for 70 minutes, and although he's not the same as when he was 24, there's simply no point in getting rid of him when he still has something to offer and he's not breaking the bank.

Givet has suffered in the same way that Salgado has this season, in that he's a good defender with no pace. Under Sam, we played in such a way that the full backs were given more protection than we currently are and we reaped the rewards by being battered down the flanks every game for months until we were forced into playing lowe/henley/olsson there. Doesn't mean that he's a bad player, 100% keep.

As for the rest of them, all spent forces in the premierleague. If we get relegated I'd consider keeping Roberts or Andrews for the right money.

He deserves a little more credit than that in my opinion.

He's been over weight and out of form for 2 seasons now, we're only just starting to see him perform to any sort of acceptable level. He's had injuries yes, but its no coincidence that we're seeing his best form right about now, when we need it by the way.

Just my opinion.

Vince Grella (Expires summer 2012) - Decent player, but always in the sick bay - SELL

David Dunn (Expires summer 2012) - Injury prone, but somewhat effective, however he sold his soul to Venkys and SK, "reality check" Dunn kissed ass big time at the expense of the supporters to get a new contract - EXTERMINATE

Michel Salgado (Expires summer 2012) - Fantastic player in his prime, fantastic example to the youngsters. Treated poorly by the lying sack SK, very much doubt he would be interested in coaching with that imbecile in charge - RELEASE

Jason Roberts (Expires summer 2012) - Been poor for a long time, earned way more than he is worth - RELEASE/SELL

Ryan Nelsen (Contract till 2013)Past his best, would be a great coach/scout - EMPLOY in a new role

Gael Givet – 2013 - Our best defender - SIGN HIM UP

I would also add that Ribeiro and Anderson should also be on their merry way, these two jokers ought to be ashamed of themselves for taking money under false pretences

Keith Andrews - 2013 - Why would he want anything to do with Rovers, he has been treated appallingly by fans, SK etc. - SELL

I literally cant believe im reading what you wrote about Givet. Id understand it from a fan of any other club that hasnt really seen Givet play much BUT a rovers fan not appreciating how good Givet has been for us is bizarre!!!!

Hes not great at left back but thats because hes not a left back yet hes happy to do a job for us there. Quality centre back and as for not being good enough for the PL? Hes played for Marseille, Monaco (where he was a regular in the side that got to the CL final!!) and been capped for France a decent amount of time so I think hes good enough to sit on the same team bus as Roberts, Grella, Andrews etc but unlike Grella Givet had a heart op and is willing to play for us within a few weeks of that where Grella has a tweak in his groin or a slightly tight hamstring and hes out for another 6 months picking up his wages. Givet is a WARRIOR!!!!

Ryan Nelsen (Contract till 2013)

Keith Andrews - 2013

Grella - Bye Bye, thanks for the memories.

Dunn - If relegated, keep him, if not then perhaps not if better can be found.

Salgado - Time to move on as last summer should have been.

Roberts - Needs to leave to save his career.

Nelsen - Keep as I doubt he'd want to leave anyway as he's most likely on more than another club would pay him, but he loves Rovers, coaching role if possible and aptitude shown.

Givet - If possible keep (obviously need to stay up), it's taken a while but people are finally figuring out he's an awesome CB.

Andrews - Too much water under the bridge.

If relegated keep Dunn & Nelsen, the rest can leave to save dollar. Hanley & Nelsen would be good in chumpionship and Dunny in the hole would fire us back up and ensure local passion for our annual Bashing of Burnley.

Yes he is, but he wasn't (IMO) at the time I wrote it, and if you care to read my subsequent corrections you wouldn't have had to trouble yourself.

Note well that nobody jumped down my throat when I wrote it (Oct 11), which, if you think about it, does provide a little justification for my posting.

His last 3 months have been by far his best.
