adopted scouser Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Over here some kid coming out of Spar dropped her monster munch on the floor, it was awful
T4E Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 If it was roast beef that is awful. I love roast beef monster munch me. Way better than pickled onion IMHO.
Backroom Tom Posted October 24, 2011 Backroom Posted October 24, 2011 If it was roast beef that is awful. I love roast beef monster munch me. Way better than pickled onion IMHO. I hate you and everything you stand for Flaming Hot > Pickled Onion >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Roast Beef>That Ice cream flavour they once did
T4E Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Flaming hot is decent and I'm not anti pickled onion by any means, but roast beef monster munch are my favourite crisps. Except maybe salt and vinegar squares.
Beta Ray Bill Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Flaming hot is decent and I'm not anti pickled onion by any means, but roast beef monster munch are my favourite crisps. Except maybe salt and vinegar squares. You're too young to remember bovril square crisps. So much flavouring you could actually lick it off them. Now that was a class crisp.
adopted scouser Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Pickled onion every time, and cheese and onion square crisps are straight from heaven. Anyone old enough to remember potato puffs ?
Backroom Tom Posted October 24, 2011 Backroom Posted October 24, 2011 Flaming hot is decent and I'm not anti pickled onion by any means, but roast beef monster munch are my favourite crisps. Except maybe salt and vinegar squares. Maybe you aren't so bad after all. In primary school I remember a chipstick like crisp in a faux newspaper style packet and they did a smokey bacon flavour that was godly. This is now the crisp thread. Only a matter of time till someone mentions Roysters T Bone Steak.
adopted scouser Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 My one weakness, the devil's toenails, pork scratchings. Totally bad for you and Colin's bette noir. Titch and I love 'em
Ozz Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I need more time to consider what I want to say about crisps, it really is that important. These days. But I leave you with the original.. and best...
T4E Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Wow, if only I was old enough to enjoy them when they were that size. For the budget crisp eater amongst us, these were a personal favourite in my school days -
SAS Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Space raiders, used to construct the vehicle then eat it. Intense
LeChuck Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Salt and Vinegar squares make THE best crisp sandwich you'll ever have. There's a technique to it though. Lay out as many whole crisps as you can find in rows of three, it should fit perfectly. Then spread the crushed ones evenly before putting the last piece of bread on. Don't press too hard. I can't remember where I found that now, I think it was in a Heston Blumenthal recipe book.
Backroom Tom Posted October 25, 2011 Backroom Posted October 25, 2011 Lechuck - chipsticks make decent crisp butties as well if you line them up, I like a laughing cow triangle on it as well if I'm feeling posh
LeChuck Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 I like the sound of that. I think any crisp with an orderly shape should do a good job in a sarnie. Not sure I'm brave enough for the cheese though...
Backroom Tom Posted October 25, 2011 Backroom Posted October 25, 2011 Especially if you stack them upright it can be an uncomfortable eat
beerwins Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 You're too young to remember bovril square crisps. So much flavouring you could actually lick it off them. Now that was a class crisp. Good lord they sound fantastic, i'm also a sucker for Pork scratchings..........I have yet to find the best ones anyone have some suggestions.
Beta Ray Bill Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Perhaps this should be split from original topic, not for the issue of going off topic, just that it may attract more participation if titled " King of Crisps" or some such? Anyhow, what about fangs and bones? Puffed up corn type snacks with a horror bent. Joined later by bats and claws iirc. Can't remember the favours. Were they fangs = tomato, bones= salt and vinegar, bats=beef and claws=onion?
CornwallRover Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Discos salt and vinegar or pork scratchings for me.
Backroom Tom Posted October 25, 2011 Backroom Posted October 25, 2011 Ploughmans Lunch flavour smiths (or were they Golden Wonder) were Godly.
