Best decide quick - sat nav says we're gonna be there in 3h55!

Well, I'm aiming for the Wagon and Horses unless I hear different. But I expect this thread/twitter/4sq/sms is going to be suggesting alternatives as people arrive.

Hannah and i were in the coach and horses (not wagon!) last night. It is a very nice pub and 2 mins walk from our hotel Glenn. It has its own beer and isnt that expensive - got 2 drinks for 5.75. Itll prob be busy but theyve got outside front and back too.

Well, we've arrive. Just checked into the hotel 100 yards from some pub involving horses. Be there in 5 mins

Ok, work complication now resolved, tickets now sorted, so I'm off to Wigan.

Where do people suggest is the best place for forum members to meet up.

The Marquee place inside the ground? The place on the retail park (The Robin?). The place in town (the real ale pub). The place near the station (The Railway?).

Last year it was the Moon Under Water

When I was at the game we met up at a pub next to the stadium. Had a great time and met many great Rovers supporters. This was a pub combined with a restaurant I think. Only problem was no functional lock on the toilet and kind of hard to take "day-after-dump" at the same time as keeping the door closed with your foot :P

On Deansgate? That's going to be one hell of an expensive taxi ride. Handy for this evening though ;)

Oh, I've just been told there's a Moon Under Water in Wigan too .... I feel a bit silly now

Seems alot arriving on same train into Town Centre,

Moon is the biggest pub and serves food too, Harrys bar and Last orders will be open as will Berkley Square which is another large pub and one of the better pubs in Wigan,

Anvil serves the real ale, quite small pub, and very popular with Locals

I came to Wigan last season for my stag do. I believe I may have frequented all of the above. I have no idea what any of them were like and couldn't tell you anything about the game at all. I do know I was back in the Robin just after half time as I was too wasted to stay in the ground.

Happy days lol.

Wigan's official away parking is a. nearer. b. free. Watch you don't accidentally park on the soccer dome car park, they'll charge you a fiver (I think) to be one row of cars nearer the ground than the official free parking.

If I was to drive is the best place to park the big car park behind the ground?

Anywhere but there really on match days Tom.

Depends if you want to get away quickly after the match as always gridlocked.

If you are able or don't mind walking a little , better to try and park in the industrial Estate off Frog Lane/Wallgate and go over the Bridge or around the housing estates /Standish Lower Ground.

My only reservation is the traffic was shocking getting into Wigan in the past on match days, reckon if I arrived for around 12 it would be quiet enough?

I'll probably stay an hour or so after match does it normally ease off by then?

I'll venture to the Moon Under the Water for midday.

Never done one of these board meet ups before how does it work, should I tell you what I'll be wearing so you can spot me? I'll be wearing a blue and white top with a rose over my left man breast. ;)

I think the only person I know off this board is Ricky after meeting him at a Football Aid things years back.
