So who's got it, getting it, looking forward to it?

Mine was shipped yesterday.

Reviews are saying that the single player is disappointing, but that online it's superb - the best online FPS yet. After the letdowns of MW2 and Black Ops - this will be the first COD I've not preordered since the original MW - I'm hoping EA/DICE have upped the ante and this will force COD's makers to in future give us something more than another lazy rehash using the same old game mechanics they've been using since the original MW, just with more bells and whistles in terms of customisation.

Will no doubt succumb though and end up picking up MW3 at some point, even if it's only a rental ....

I'll probably buy both, but I only have BF3 on pre-order.

Got it on order from Sainsburys but I'm a little worried that the Order Status is still being 'Processed'. Would think it'd have to be first class tomorrow to 'most likely' get to me Friday.

Really looking forward to it. I do hope the Single Player Campaign is decent because I tend to play through that before MP. The graphics and all round gameplay seems like it might be much better than MW3, but we'll just have to see.

Really put off by alot of horror stories about EA Origin and EA in general. Best of luck to those getting it, especially for PC.

When I've got shooters in the past I've always played through the single player first then moved onto online,

I may just go straight onto multiplayer when I get this and play the single player some other time.

Such a shame that the single player campaign according to almost every review is poor, I like to play the single player of these type of games so it is disappointing. I do play multi-player but almost always with friends.

Game looks great (graphically) but the poor implemented single player means I am not going to buy this but instead rent it.

Turns out Gamestation did muck my order up, that's the last time I ever use them for pre-orders...

I'm not to bothered about the single player being crap myself considering how many more hours i'll be playing the online multiplayer in comparison. One player campaigns are usually disappointing anyway.

I'll probably buy it after Christmas along with MW3. Surprised you've said MW2 and Black Ops were a let down as I still think they're awesome!

I loved the original Modern Warfare, but MW2 felt like it could have been downloadable content rather than a full game. The maps were generally pretty poor, the killstreaks (particularly heartbeat sensors and nukes!) were ridiculous and the matchmaking a joke. Black Ops was much better, but still didn't really do anything that MW1 still doesn't do at least as well. But then there's the catasrophic laaaaaaaag - so bad it's at times pretty much a game about who has the best connection. I swore I won't buy another COD game until they've got dedicated servers.

Traded MW2 after 3 months for Bad Company 2, which is IMO a vastly superior multiplayer game. Much prefer the slower pace, emphasis on teamwork and the almost complete lack of lag (although it has got worse recently). Still playing that now - 18 months after buying it - and am just at the stage where I'm bored of the maps.

Am hoping BF3 is on my doormat when I get home!

I was in the beta because of buying MOH (which was dump) I have to say that the graphics really did'nt seem any better than BF2 and the gameplay was pretty much the same as BF2, the map that I played on really was'nt a good indicator of how good the graphics could be, but overall I am probably looking more forward to MW3.

No doubt i'll end up buying both

Have read a couple of reviews and both said the map from the beta (Operation Metro?) is by far the poorest. I thought it was a very COD-esque map .... very confined and linear so fast and furious gameplay.

Bought this today and must say I am very disappointed. Will be taking it back to HMV on Sunday. Graphics look awful in comparison to the COD franchise (I'm not a fanboy of either BF or COD) and the gameplay/online modes are just not fun to play. Probably because all I play on CoD is free for all and the lack of that on BF3 isn't to my liking. Will try the single player later but as I generally only play online only with FPS I'll probably be disappointed by that too.

How much will they give you for it?

Not sure, but I could be dishonest & take it back stating I'd bought it for a friend as a gift but they already have it (get a full refund). The game wasn't sealed as HMV gut all of their copies first. I won't do it though as I've used the online code and I'd hate somebody to be given it 'new' and find that they have to pay £7.99 to get online. Probably just trade it in for store credit for when MW3 is out next month.

Can't believe how disappointing the game is though after all the hype and all the excellent reviews/awards it has won. Might just be me, but the missus' who only tends to watch me play games said it looks crap compared to other FPS' she'd seen me play.

Got it yesterday, played a little last night and, well, it's not quite ready YET to dislodge Bad Company 2 from the top of the FPS tree. Two things that are annoying the most .... First the squad system is broke - it sometime splits you and your mates up, and headsets work only sporadically, second the hardcore mode has a minimap on it. WTF is that?! Everyone knows the best way to play any FPS is hardcore and having a map just defeats the object. Last, the grenades are awful. All curable with patches but it almost feels like another beta. Fair play to EA though - they've set up a forum and have asked for user recommendations so hopefully they'll act on them. They need to otherwise they run the risk of people migrating to MW3 in a couple of weeks' time, although having said that there's no guarantee that will be any better on release; there hasn't even been a MW3 beta so expect that to be equally beset with issues (as was Black Ops) when it comes out although as they're just rehashing the Modern Warfare engine (yet again!) at least it's built on proven architecture.

It seems clear that EA have learned one thing from the COD developers though - how to completely overhype their game!

Don't know what everyone's on about, I think it's an ace game. Haven't touched the single player yet, that's not what I bought it for. I'm glad MW3 is out soon because that will keep the kids away from BF3.

The single player is a nightmare, can't help feel that it could have been good if they hadn't rushed it.

I've spent most of my time in tanks on the multiplayer my biggest enemy are ground troops with rpg's but thermal vision and LMG which I unlocked now gives me a massive advantage, always a bonus when I have a decent gunner with me.

You always find that more on the consoles than what you do on pc its a shame because if you have good teamwork(boths sides) it is a better experience. As it gives you the satisfaction when you win it will of been a struggle but you worked together to overcome it and end up winning.

main reason i play more games on PC now. And i am not saying you never get it on pc as you do some times.

I got it, and so far I like the online part. I never bother with campaign.

I'm still learning the controls, which pretty much means I'm a target for the more experienced players, which I don't like being. I just wish a training programme was included so I can become a good standard without being hit in the stats department.

That just comes with time, The best thing to do on the maps without vehicles is to stick with groups of players trying not to just wander off on your own, picking a support class might be a good idea if you haven't much experience you'll get plenty of points supplying medkits or ammo.

I think they missed a trick by not adding training sessions for Helicopters and Jets considering how bloody difficult they are to pilot. I've managed to suss out how to fly a jet but just get shot down by anti air without flares to dump. Helicopters are way too tricky for me but are the most rewarding vehicle if you can master them, a guy on my side in conquest yesterday had a total score of 31k, he spent the entire time in a chopper.
