Technically, the annual accounts are not due until May and even then the fines for not presenting them are miniscule.

If we are down, my hunch is I very much doubt we will see the 2010/11 numbers until after a huge crisis.

Well, here we go again. I do believe if sources are to be believed that our two intrepid travellers, Ian's B and C are about to become the backbone of our club. What a truly fabulous idea. Two fans on the board of our club, two men who are well connected within the game and who if you cut them would bleed blue and white. Both me born and bred in the locality.

It seems that our owners are at last starting to get to grips with the idea of running a PL club and if the rumours are to be believed, will allow local people to be the mouthpiece, the common sense and the guiding light to move us towards the future. Now I am sure that there will be plenty of doubters about these two but their motives and reasons are honourable and they will fight to make our club the one we all want.

I do believe the owners are coming over and it would be a good idea to show them 'not how much we are disillusioned' but more 'just how much we follow and support our team and our club' So come the game on Saturday, lets all get behind our club and give the owners every reason to back us with financial support.

That notion has been hanging around a for quite a time and is, I understand, subject to a big bunch of issues being sorted out.

Why would venky's break their habit of a year and start doing something sensible?

gave you a minus riverside not because i dont agree with all your points but the fact that you want us to pretend how everything is rosy in the garden which it isnt, how will that change things for the better? how will that make them want to invest if they think things are going along smoothly and how will that get rid of kean to bring in a proper manager who will be able to spend the money wisely and progresivly?

My view of this and this is not borne out by any facts that can be revealed is that they are very honourable people and have taken their time to firstly root out people who were trying to make the club fail. Then to assess others who had a say and maybe hadnt been appointed in the best possible way and then finally to identify and assess people who could give a positive effect on the club and drive it in the right direction. many blame Kean for the mess but it may and am sure probably isnt his mess. Perhaps those who were driving the club internally were doing so disingenuously.

The upshot of this is that we could well have some faces at the table who are genuine Rovers, true blue and white and will only do what is the best for the club. That can only be a positive. So instead of griping and complaining, show the owners what support is really like.

Well Rover and Out, if I knew what a 'minus ' was and what it refers to, I may have been disappointed or upset but as I am in complete ignorance, never mind. I will just support my team...

I will also give 100% support to people who I know will be doing their best for this club.

You have lost all credibility and any moral argument with the sentence I have highlighted.

It is also probably actionable.

This'll be the light at the end of the tunnel I heard on the way back from QPR. I hope you're right RR. The light has been a long time coming. If you're the chap I spoke to on the train then I believe you.

However, I fear it too late for Saturday, or even the near future. The Venkys have burnt so many bridges with their inept decision making I'm afraid it's going to take quite some time to build up any semblance of trust.

Goddamn, what a mess.

I must state it was not me with whom you chatted Bob F, however, there is a new dawn and with the support of the fans, I am sure there will be forward moves. It is easy to suggest that those who make a comment have 'lost credibility' as some would suggest but I do so with no axe to grind against the fans, the owners but only with the idea of giving moral and physical support to anyone who wants to work towards making our club proud again.

Well Rover, only time will tell which one of us was seeing through open eyes and which one was blinkered.

I am going to go with the view that we need to support our team, our club and our town and if someone is prepared to stick their neck out and try to work with the owners to make us a CLUB again, then they get my 100% backing.

No issue with this or the two Ians but it is a monstrous lie to say there were people within the club working against the club unless you are referring to someone currently still in the club's employment- but that is not how I read what you wrote.

I can only repeat, there are in my somewhat informed opinion massive issues to be resolved before the Ians could become involved.

It doesn't really make any sense.

If we're borrowing to cover that scenario, then we're already eating into the next Sky payment before it's arrived. If the money to do that is coming from debt secured against the club's revenue, then it's a dangerous situation.

The Sky money is guaranteed income that will come, say, after 6 months. It seems that all we're doing is telling the bank you pay us that money now and we'll give it back in 6 months time.

We're then spending that lump sum on new players in the transfer window. Possibly other things, but the timing of the mortgages suggests it's being used to fund player purchases.

We also have other sources of revenue, which we're no doubt using to cover other expenses, which may or may not include Venky's own money. The lack of a shirt sponsor would likely have left a big hole in our revenue though, so they may have needed to utilize the Sky money sooner rather than later and so opted for the mortgage.

If we start hearing reports that players or members of staff aren't being paid then we'll know we're in trouble.

One thing that is a concern for me is that they have seemingly been unsuccessful in securing additional forms of income, including the shirt sponsor, which is obviously not good for the club and in addition money has been wasted on a number of unnecessary expenses such as agent fees and sacking Allardyce/McDonald.

Who was "trying" to make the club fail and had to be rooted out? Sam? John Williams? Tom Finn? Off the planet with this post.

There are periodic scare stories about ordinary bills not being paid on time but I don't know if that is cash flow problems or the slow train to Pune and back.

The way the first mortgage expired on 30 June followed by the summer long transfer window farce followed by a new vastly more onerous mortgage signed on 25 August and lodged at Companies House somewhat later (I am being diplomatic) doesn't exactly point to a business operating under the normal rules of sound corporate governance.

Was sacking Allardyce really a large additional expense?

His contract only had a few months left, which he was already due to be paid.

Ending up costing something like £2m. You may have noted Mr A's dignified silence.

Anderson?

I don't think he meant JW to be fair

Over to the poster to clarify if he wishes but given what he wrote he'd best be advised not to.

There has been an attrocious attempt to smear JW and his record which is why I flew off the handle at what he wrote.

It cannot be Anderson as he said inside the club.

Where did the Sky money go from a few months back?

How do we fund the gap from the next Sky payment to the one six months down the line if we've spent it before we get it? More borrowing against future payments?

If we're spending money before we even receive it then it's a downward spiral in to debt. There is nothing good about that situation.

In my opinion, Venkys made a substantial error if Kean's appointment is the end result of their effort to "identify and assess people who could give a positive effect on the club and drive it in the right direction." A manager who produces less than one point a PL match (average) cannot claim to be driving the club in a positive direction.

Reputation is a funny thing. Attack a respected man like JW and the effort may rebound and destroy the reputation of the attacker.

What are you talking about Steve? The last thing you could accuse Kean of is not personifying positiveness!!

Btw, you should change your handle back to smoss as a personal protest until the imposter is gone!

:tu:

It was the Rovers official fans forum Linky to Official website. Not an internet forum. An actual meeting of people in real life that happens every two months or so. It happens that some people who are on the fans forum are also on this website. No it wasn't just people from here that went to Pune.

Glenn and Ste B own the site.

Just when I was about to start doubting someone's integrity it turns out that there was actually more than just the 9 on here who travelled at the owners expense then? I think that may solve the mystery of the info I was given :tu:

As per my initial post, rightly or wrongly, I was definitely told that there were people with no actual interest in Rovers or football who tagged along on this 5* trip to Venkyville (it's only the same that anyone else with a brain in their head would do). Like I said earlier, I don't doubt its authenticity in the slightest as it was simply being passed on to me (by request) from someone in conversation...but a gentleman never tells ;)

1. I was born in 1965. Kean was born in 1967. I had the name "Steven" first, so he can go and change his- though his name per the earliest reports (such as his Celtic days) is actually Stephen.

2. Positive comment is not positive action. Kean has made a lot of positive comments but not so much positive action. I'm beginning to think "positive" is his favorite word (and "the owners support me 100%" his favorite phrase). But based on the context he employs it, I wish a reporter would challenge him with a quote from Inigo Montoya in the Princess Bride "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." The man is like a parrot.

I'm really sorry RR but I have no faith in Venky's letting the two Ian's do anything but register disapproval on our behalf. I do not buy the Venkys' PR image of benevolent, 'Baldrick'-esque naive people, who respect our feelings. I'm afraid I'm reminded of the more machiavellian traits of Blackadder. I can't forget that it's widely reported that this family made it's fortune on breeding, 'raising' and slaughtering animals in ways which British people started to consider at least distasteful way back in the eighties. Perhaps a representative from PETA should be invited to the get together with the board to state his view on whether Venkys are a 'benevolent' company? Also, does it not strike anybody that a public statement about bringing the two Ians on board might be a desperate attempt to curry favour? And as such, with just how much contempt does the current regime hold our views and just how lacking in intelligence do they esteem us to be, that we will absorb any old nonesense unquestionably? I'm usually a very amenable person and regularly read this site for interest and information. However, recent events have brought even the likes of me out from under the stairs, which, I believe, is saying something.
