Clement or Kean, the corner was a clever ploy, obviously rehearsed and gained us a welcome and an unwelcome point, Welcome due to our league position and unwelcome because our numpty of a manager is still there, 1 win in 12!!!

Does 'clever ploy' translate into 'sheer panic'.

I agree with the welcome & unwelcome point.

Hardly noticed Hoilett was on the pitch until his 'goal'. He has started to look fat on not on the pace when watching him on tv. That could just be a tv thing.

Just got back - unbelievable, only second time in over 30 years I leave before the end - and ...........

First things first - loss of Olsson, Samba and Lowe was crucial today - though in reality shouldn't have been against a poor Wigan team. On this point Kean was unlucky - also he was unlucky that Dunn wouldn't appear to have two brain cells to put together (unless it was a underhand way of losing Kean his job). I am also surprised that the club are obviously asking Hoilett to play c**p so no one will buy him in January.

Right the reality of the situation - with (on paper - and allowing for injuries) a better team - first half we made Wigan look like world beaters. IMO this was largely down to the tactics we were playing. Even in the second half - were the team improved - and played with real heart - we were lucky that Robbo pulled off two world class safes (and unfortunately one gaff) - and that Wigan became as inept in front of goal as we normally are.

I was prepared to give Kean this game - even though we didn't lose, and he obviously still has the support of most of the players - he has to go. Defensively it just isn't working - and this is down to the tactics he employs and his team selection. I wonder if anyone can explain to me why Formica was dropped for Dunn - or why Hoilett isn't used as the second striker (he looked far more effective when we went down to 10 men, and he was supporting Yakubu).

Today would have been the final straw for most owners - unfortunately I fear our owners will be taken in by a lucky point against a poor team.

Wow where to start.

-First Half - as bad as I have seen Rovers play since Wigan away under Ince, seriously shocking. We didn't look set up to defend and had no shape no leadership and no idea

-The red card changed the game, in our favour, we looked far better when the appalling pie boy went off, I hope he never plays for us again personally, what on earth was he thinking with the first one followed by a deliberate handball minutes later

- Robbo was at fault for at least 2 of the goals but made up for it with the save and penalty

- Hoilett looked totally uninterested in the first half

- There was a nasty atmosphere around us today, saw a few get thrown out and a few fights nearly kick off

- I missed goals 2 and 3 by going to the toilet and leaving in a sulk respectively ( I deserve that ha)

At end of the day we really really needed 3 points today, both these teams will go down but I am still grateful for the point although sadly Kean had a ready made interview.

Word is a member of this board (who shall rename anonymous unless he wants to step forward) had words with Balaji at half time :)

Is that why they left early?

Hope that word was the Qatari dailing code!

Positive people , we are the first team to take a point from Wigan in 9 games! the fact in the other 8 games other teams have taken all three is neither here nor there, and another positive we are the first team to concede three goals to Wigan this season.

Well that's all my positive energy gone about today gone.

People might think that for the sake of 1 point, Kean's job has been saved, and maybe even suspiciously noting Robbo's SEM links.

However, look at it this way:

1) Kean was going nowhere regardless of today's result.

2) That point gained is actually 3 points that Wigan didn't get.

3) Robbo stuck his head in where most of our forwards wouldn't, got a bloodied head for his troubles, and deserves credit for his bravery.

Make no mistake, we will be in a relegation scrap all season (if we are lucky) and could well be going down.

But we have to put supporting OUR Rovers first. In spite of Kean, not because of him.

However, if you see him in public (around the village) then please stop telling him he's doing a great job, and instead tell him to knob off.

a few on this thread have commented on a rovers performance such as that against a team that is bottom of the league....remind yourselfs, about what position we currently hold?? we are only a bee's dick better than they are at present. better result for us than it was for wigan.

[/quote/

Please tell me you're on a wind up.

Wigan had lost the last 6 and we're playing well ( according to gobshite anyway)...how do you come to the conclusion thats a good result?

Given that we were a man down, away from home, a point is not too bad - whilst I used to think we would not get relegated with Kean in charge (more a long season of struggle), I am having doubts whether we can get enough wins under him to stay up. He has shown we can draw our fair share of games however draws won't be enough.

What a ridiculous gamble Venky's are taking - at least we have the youngest team of all time.

You Kean it was coming:

"We put in a real team performance and the lads were really backing each other up," said Kean after the match. "Then when we went down to ten men the team effort to come back and get something from the game was tremendous. I felt as although we were a man shy we were strong in our defensive play and were great on the break. We are disappointed that we never got three points, we came here with confidence, we had been playing well. But then when you take the game in context, to lose David Dunn so early in the second half, and then to concede late on, to come back means it is a good point for us."

Don't think there's any "could" about it.

Purely based on results, we're clearly one of the worst three teams in the division. Our average goals conceded is over 2 per game.

33 points from 26 games required. Ignoring 9 games where we're likely to get nul points, that's 33 from 17 games, 2 points per game. No chance.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment and the overall point you are making, you are assuming that 40 is the minimum required to stay up.

That might not be the case.

In fact, as you point out, it's our only hope that it isn't.....

Cannot see how the result today makes any difference to anything.

Surely we will never have a better chance to win an away game this season. Wigan have lost the last 9 games.

We have now conceded 3 goals or more in 50% or our games this season and show no signs of improving defensively.

We are extremely weak in both full-back positions and centre midfield is shocking. Add top that terrible organization by the manager and there is surely only 1 result.

The next game at home is on 3rd December and I think it will be totally impossible to stay up when we fail to win that one.

Take off the blue and white tinted specs, if that had happened against us we would be going mental. The players know the rules when it comes to corners and it was a disgraceful bit of play.

Wigan have every right to feel aggrieved.

Clearly nobody understood the Laws of the game because if they had done, all the Wigan players would have surrounded the ref and insisted he talk to the "Linesman" for a second opinion.

on the subject of cheating there is not a minute that goes by where players don't cheat to get free kicks, corners, penalties, players sent off. they do it cynically and in a covert way. This was as obvious and open as you can get. Clearly Yak wanted to give the slightest touch without appearing to touch it. Whatever happened it worked. like Asa Hartford's dream goal, it won't happen again but if the ref and other officials missed it like they did the obstruction on Robinson for the goal or the fact that Dunn made contact with the ball before player then that's show business.
