I had a chat over a quiet pint last night in the Cavendish Arms with a football agent who has just moved into the area (Brindle), he has some ex-Rovers (Premiership) players on his books. He told me, as he knows I am a Rovers fan, without any prompting that:

1. Kean has signed a new contract;

2. The Venkys do not believe that they should advise the fans, it is a private matter for them to decide, and;

3. Kean is on 50% the salary of Big Sam.

The final point suggests that they cannot afford, or do not want to spend on, an established manager.

Shame he's nowhere near half as good.

I am off to Euro Disney this weekend and whilst I am there I am going see to see about joining the Mickey Mouse Club as this lot are quickly turning my football club into just that!!!

It was noted when the LT photographed the Pune9 at Manchester Airport. One of them (naming no names) was wearing a "Mickey Mouse Club" T-Shirt. ;)

I think it's Wierd that they are looking to 'improve' his current terms, NOT extend it.

Nicko has to be right on the 'remove a clause which makes him cheaper to sack' stuff.

Why would he agree to that though?

I'm not doubting you were told this PB, any more than I doubt you were told about the major announcement by the person you bought your Rovers Return ticket from at Ewood, but there are some major flaws in the guy's story.

1. A random football agent 'knows' that Kean has signed a new contract - yet there's still hardly anything in the press about it....doesn't seem credible.

2. If this were true, why have they mentioned anything about it at all, denials etc? Sounds like speculation to me.

3. By all accounts Kean is actually on much less than half the salary Allardyce was on. This will be especially true if they both had bonuses built in for staying in the Prem. Sam collected on his, Kean won't.

but what if Venkys are asking for release clauses should he not meet targets?

He almost promised them top 10, so they must be very disappointed in him.

or maybe saying, we have faith in you but if you don't deliever on your promises you must leave.

If they were REALLY backing him they would extend his contract, not change the current terms.
